_~_Story...
Chase McCandless grew up like any other American boy, strongly resembling his father. the five-foot-six fifthteen-year-old with dirty blonde hair wasn't exactly the most popular of kids, but there has always been a special... Something about him. Truth be told, he wasn't born to his American parents... Rather, he was born to a pair of Shingami, Soul Reapers. Eversince his fifteenth birthday, he's become more morbid in nature and his awareness of spiritual presences has increased...
Oh... And he can see these massive creatures whom attack only the people he can see...
So, in a nutshell, he thinks he is going crazy. His friends, however, are undergoing similar processes, seeing spirits and these horrifying abominations, so he has ruled out any chance of coincidence... Something's happening, somewhere, and it's triggering all the bloodshed that he and his friends are bearing witness to...
Meanwhile... In the Soul Society, the society that governs all life, a scheme of utmost rebelion is being plotted...
... Can Chase and his friends uncover the truth, discover their powers, and save the Soul Society and the world they live in before losing all sanity? We shall see...
_+_ Rules...
o1. Abide by all ToS.
o2. Stick to your character and don't do anything considered terribly out of character unless it is in OoC.
o3. Keep OoC to a minimum.
o4. Abide by the rules of the Battle and Encounter Systems (To be posted after this board's creation).
o5. There are FIVE possible things you can play as: Soul Reaper (Shingami), Soul, Soul Society Resident, Human, and Human Exc. Human Exc are humans with spiritual powers, considered exceptional. Those will be determined by me.
o6. Just because you request to be a Soul Reaper does not mean you're going to get the job. Keep in mind that there are only so many squads and many have only three or four members that are shingami. There are other Shingami, but their use will be limited.
o7. You CANNOT play as a Hollow. The only 'Hollow' that is a playable character is Chase, as he is descended from a Soul Reaper that was posessed by a Hollow (Gives away the big secret).
o8. All Hollows are to be played by me and the encounters with Hollows are at total random. You cannot be attacked by a Hollow in the Soul Society (At least not in the beginning of the RP) unless you are attacked by Chase.
o9. Please wait for ALL posts to be made before posting or sending me PMs with profile applications.
1o. The history in the Profile Section must be THREE Paragraphs long, and typos must be few and far (seeing as this is my bad computer, I'll have to wait to correct mine), if not non-existant. Literate roleplaying skill and a large vocabulary are needed.
11. DO NOT just up and vanish. If you have to leave for a period over three days, then PM me. This applies to me as well. If I suddenly vanish with no explanation, send me a PM to chastise me.
12. Respect my authority as the creator of the board. Mods and Gaia Staff aside, I am the GOD. This doesn't mean I Godmode, it just means that arguing with me will get you on the blacklist and on my ignore list.
13. If you are of beginning level, I advise you train up before entering this board. This may have seemed obvious, but, keh...
14. There are a lot of rules here, aren't there? NO Godmoding, powerplaying, Mary-Sue, Gary-Sue, Larry-Sue, etc. will be tolerated.
15. When applying, list all of your attacks and their effects. I will list limits and examples in the Profile Applications Post.

A little town in Tennessee where Chase lives. It is similar to many southern cities and is considered a 'hick town', but that doesn't mean that all of the people there act like rednecks. Chase and many of his friends are prime examples of this.
Soul Society

O_o Race and Entity Measure
This is kind of like a stat sheet for different races and entities... Let's start from the lowest and go to the highest.
Stat Descriptions:
Strength: Your overall fighting power. This measures how hard you can hit as well as how well you can use your main weapon.
Agility: Your ability to dodge attacks and your speed.
Defense: Your ability to block. Your defense reduces damage taken.
Stamina: The amount of damage you can normally take before passing out or dying.
Luck: Your chance of NOT being attacked by a Hollow.
Common Soul
Common Attributes:
Strength: *

Luck: *
Description: Possibly the weakest of all things you can play as in this RP, Common Souls are those lost in the human world and are WEAK AND DEFENSELESS. They practically have a bullseye on their back and are targetted by Hollows whenever the chance arises.

Description: A LOT less likely to be attacked by Hollows than any other race, this is possibly the safest race to be. However, low stats like this likely mean you won't see much action. Many Human Exc start off in this state until attacked by a Hollow or encountered by Shingami.
Lesser Hollow:

Agility: ***
Defense: **
Stamina: *****
Luck: N/A
Description: Lesser Hollows are one of the three common types of hollows that one can encounter. These mighty NPCs have fairly low defense, but enough stamina to make up for it. Commonly, only Human Exc's, Shingami, and Powerful Souls can kill Hollows. Humans, Common Souls, and Lesser SS Souls may have difficulty staying alive, even when fighting lesser hollows.
Lesser SS Souls:

Description: Built to run from Hollows, these souls rarely venture out of the Soul Society due to the fact that they, like Soul Reapers, are Hollow Delicacies. Some are able to train and become Greater Soul Society Souls or even Shingami, but that tends to take hundreds of years.

Description: The lowest Rank of Soul Reaper. They are weaker than many inhabitants of the Soul Society, but stronger than the Lesser Hollows and up to par with Mediator Hollows. To increase rank to D, a Shingami must win a total of ten straight times in a row, win against an opponent twice as strong as they are three times, or simply battle an opponent that is twice as strong as they are five times. Ranking up automatically increases their stamina, agility, defense, and strength, but makes it more likely that they will be attacked by more powerful Hollows.
Human Exc- Rank C:

Description: Human Exc's, simply put, are the antithesis of Soul Reapers in many ways. These gifted humans have obtained spiritual powers that do not involve the use of the Zanpukto, the common weapon of the Soul Reaper. They, however, only rank up twice (aside from their initial upgrade from the human to Human Exc). As they level up, these unique humans regain their luck and have little chance of being attacked by Hollows due to their brute power. Witha accordance to their powers, Human Exc's stats will change in correspondance.
Hollow Mediators:

Description: More powerful than lesser Hollows, these creatures are less common in the human world and more common in a place called The Hollow Rift. They are equal in matching to Rank E Shingami.

Luck: * OR ****
Description: Souls like Jidanbo and former residents like Urahara fall into this category of strong beings. Greater Soul Society Souls (Or GSSS's) can either live in the Soul Society or the human world. Within a human guise, they are rarely attacked by Hollows, but in Spirit form (Similar to Shingami forms of certain humans), they are easilly targetted.
Shingami- Rank D:
Common Attributes:
Varies on the way Shingami Rank E chose to level up.
Luck: *
Description: Shingami Rank E can perfect their physical arts (everything but luck) to a point that they become a higher rank of Shingami. Shingami Rank D often know their Zanpukto's name, allowing them to restore the sword from normal damages. They can also see the spirit within their Zanpukto.
Hollow Nightmare:
Common Attributes:
Strength: RANDOM
Agility: RANDOM
Defense: RANDOM
Stamina: RANDOM
Luck: N/A
Description: Hollow Nightmares are the most diverse breed of Hollow, but they are the second-most powerful. Hollow Nightmares' stats are randomized before an encounter, but that particular Hollow's stats won't change. In other words, if someone loses to or runs from that Hollow, and you encounter it, your character would be facing something with the same stats.
Human Exc- Rank B:
Common Attributes:
Varies on how Human Exc- Rank C chose to level up.
Luck: ***
Description: Merely a stronger form of Human Exc. What, you expected me to write a novel on this one?
Shingami- Rank C:
Common Attributes:
Varies on how Shingami- Rank D chose to level up.
Luck: *
Description: Merely a stronger Soul Reaper. They are capable of their 'first release', a stronger form of their Zanpukto that increases their power and, in most cases, causes the blade to take some abysmally huge shape.
Shingami- Rank B:
Common Attributes:
Varies on how Shingami-Rank C chose to level up.
Luck: *
Description: The second-most advanced Shingami, they can use their 'final release'... To a point. This release causes some other transformation or alteration in power.

i agree. and what happens when there is an imbalance of more popular races? perhaps it would also be better to list the amount of spirit energy/pressure in each race. and maybe allowing people to be multiple number of characters would be best, too. it allows for a more realistic battle, since a person can die and not worry about being booted from the rp.
