I've been really trying to get my parents into the anime, but with some of the graphic details that most AMVs present, it looks like mindless killing. So I decided to use google and look up different reviews. I found about 10 and not one of them shun Elfen Lied. They all had warnings, obviously, for nudity and gore and all that good stuff. I'll post some of the review links. What was always rated the highest of this series was the music scale, especially 'Lilium', the opening theme. Also Elfen Lied makes up at least 4-6 different genre categories. I showed them to mom and it described some of the first scene in the first episode, with the severed arm and the fingers still twitching, which I have problems with hands and fingers, so that part was a little disturbing to read, even though I've seen the series at least 5-6 times. Let me get the links ready and I just want you all to post your thoughts about this beautiful, yet sad series and how the reviews match up. If any of you have reviews post them and so forth.

♥ What I dont like about any of the reviews I've seen, They reffer to Lucy as the bad guy through the series and it gives a bad impression.. ♥

I agree with you all the way, Shaitani. They always call her the monster in the form of a girl with pink hair and horns.... that's a drawback....especially when trying to tell your parents and friends that Lucy has an extremely bad past....
Everyone seems to prefer Nyu, I like Lucy way better, no clue, but that's how it is for me. I'll get those reviews up soon, busy now.

If you ever convince your parents to buy it, please send me the review links and stuff so I'll know how you did it! I told my dad about Death Note, and he didn't like it because he thought it desensitized me to death! Your idea about showing your parents the reviews and explaining what happens in extreme detail is very smart! But, are you going to go as far as to describe Mayu's abuse in episode -I believe- four?

Well I am getting the boxset in a little over a month. I showed my mom and she agrees like I said, the music is really good and beautiful. The graphics and backgrounds are stunning, I also said 'Would you rather have me watch Elfen Lied or Saw?" She instantly said Elfen Lied. Both my parents have seen the gorey side to the anime. Well Mayu's past, episode 5, I've told them some parts of it, but said I'd rather not discuss it, I told them it was sexual abuse.... They know I know all about that stuff and it didn't bother them. Mom doesn't mind what I usually watch unless it's porn or something like Saw. I'll get the reviews up really soon, I promise, it's because right now I'm working on my Lucy costume for Halloween and for a convention in March 2008, 6 months from now. I'm buying the horns, since I can't do good with clay. I can also send you the site to buy them, they aren't all that exspensive, since she hand makes them. Well, I'm off to go dream about dressing up as Lucy and do something interesting.

It's just because of her past, I hate how people over look those kind of things. I definitely like Lucy more then Nyu, even though I think it's funny the way she interprets things.

When I first watched the series.. it scared the s**t out of me, well.. the first episode. I was all.. "OMG, OMG THIS IS INSANE!"
When I actually finished it and saw why Lucy was killing people like that.. and met the other Diclonius and heard their stories, I fell in love.
Now I enjoy watching the innocents die. >=] Mankind deserves to suffer.

When I actually finished it and saw why Lucy was killing people like that.. and met the other Diclonius and heard their stories, I fell in love.
Now I enjoy watching the innocents die. >=] Mankind deserves to suffer. I agree completely... to tell you the truth, its actually an accurate interpretation of what humans do to other creatures... we do things to them we wuldn't dream of doing to ourselves.. and we find it amusing... Diclonius(and other creatures) aren't plagues.... humans are...and we are too arrogant to see that...in essence...humans suck... And from the first episode... I fell in love with elfen lied.. lucy in particular...I loved how she did her thing.... kick a**, take names, and never ask questions... it was kind of awkward to watch with my friends and my brother( mainly because every time someone got dismembered or decapitated, they laughed at it.. I kind of had to....they made me...-_-) and because of all the nudity... but.. isnt that what makes it so great... pushing the very limits of where you can go, and never letting up? I truely dont think that there is an anime that is out of ever wil come out that can compare to Elfen lied ( and lucy's ) prowess and superiority. Its story line is absolutely incredible, characters that everyone can relate to somehow( anyone that can relate to mayu's past, I am truely sorry from the bottom of my heart), and of course.... LUCY!! anyone who thinks that lucy is evil.. needs to be slapped and forced to see how mariko acts.... then I'd like them to tell me that Lucy is evil....then have them watch the OVA..... sry I keep ranting on...Its just that I have seen alot of anime in my short time here on earth, and none of it compares to elfen lied.. I am soo glad that I was recommended to see it.
