Something really bugs me about how this rune is "split".
We all should know that Lady Windy and Leknaat are the owners and after the events of SI that the front half went missing.
What baffles me is Leknaat is able to be immortal.
Shouldn't there be restrictions on that? I mean she only has half of the rune.
I know in the case of the Rune of Beginning, neither the Bright Shield Rune nor the Black Sword Rune were ever True Runes, but pieces of the True Rune and that they themselves were limited in powers.
It really doesn't make sense how Leknaat is able to bypass.
Konami better explain this to me. mad

Even with a small bit of the rune the person is immortal unless killed like the emporor did to Windy but the thing is having all of the magic Leknaat doesn't have that

I mean, if that were true, you could do that with a lot of runes. The Dragon Rune is pretty important and if this method is possible, then why not split this rune too so that even if one person who holds part of the rune dies, dragons will still exist because another person holds another part of the rune.
It's just really . . . silly.

It was split in quite a different way though. The rune of beginning became 2 unique runes whereas the rune of gate was simply 2 nearly identical halves (and we don't really know if the two halves of beginning give eternal youth yet since nobody has been around long enough with them to tell). It's possible the Dragon Rune would kill all the dragons if split which would be the same thing as the owner dying. And the clan of gate that windy and leknaat came from unless I'm mistaken were very competent magicians whereas the dragon knights focus more on training with dragons then magic. Also the sun rune supposedly came from the night rune yet both grant the bearer immortality and true rune power. The final thing to consider is perhaps since Leknaat and Windy both came from such an elite magician clan that they don't even need a true rune for eternal youth. Look at Crowley. He doesn't have a true rune yet he is an ancient wizard that's been around hundreds of years. Even if it were contradictory though it's a small detail to care for. There are a few bigger plot-holes.

>_> Crowley and Mazus are weird. The timeline on suikosource.com say that they were alive once before they were born. surprised

Question? Where did Windy's piece of the rune go after she went "Kaboom!"?

Isn't it obvious? It's because Leknaat's going to be the main villain in Suikoden X. Duh. Get your facts set out straight, man.
Also, I believe Konami decided Leknaat had the whole Gate Rune after SI... but then changed their minds. Or maybe it was the other way around, hm...

Yeah Crowley and Mazus had that whole duel that created Tinto valley (or one of those dry a** places in S2), both 'dying' and being reborn. I always thought Crowley was the better magician though. xp
