The more Kal saw of the area the more he was sure it would be a good place for him to make his home. Everything he needed was within a half day's trot from his safe spot, and he had spent the last few days exploring within those boundaries. He hadn't met many others on his daily wandering so far, and it was so quiet that he began to wonder if there were other soquili living in the area at all. In a way he was relieved. He wouldn't get into much trouble if there was nobody around to get into trouble with.

Today had seemed much like the last few, sunny skies and not a soul to be seen. The small stallion could relax and enjoy himself on his own as he cropped at the grass and nibbled at flowers that were uncommon to his homeland.

As his name implied trouble followed him where ever he went. Be it at home or out running across the plains as he was doing today. Free of his siblings and parents he could run as if he was flying. Nothing better than that besides a bit of trouble mixed in.

Unfortunately the plains were lacking in things for him to get into so he was forced to go without. He had to make due with the freedom of the win in his mane and the sand under his hooves.

Kal's ears swiveled as he heard the sound of hooves, and he quickly raised his head to watch an unfamiliar stallion racing by. He didn't look anything like the little filly he had met earlier, which probably meant there were more Soquili here than he had been aware of so far.

But being as small and delicate as he was, he wasn't eager to go and introduce himself to a strange stallion who was surely much larger and stronger. For a minute he even hoped the other would keep going without noticing him. Unfortunately the sun shining on his golden markings would probably glitter and catch the other stallion's eye anyway.

Being as much of a, what did his parents call him a rascal?, as he was he wouldn't have been living up to his name if he'd missed the gold shine on the edge of his vision. He skidded to a hault, kicking up a pile of sand, and turned toward the other stallion.

He defiantly hadn't seen him around before and that meant that whoever it was wouldn't have heard of him. Grinning he trotted toward the other stallion. "You ain't from around 'ere are ya?"

The little stallion was a little dismayed to have been noticed, but he held his head up to look taller and told himself it was good for him to meet others who lived in the area. At least the larger stallion had addressed him nicely, if informally.

"I come from farther west," he offered, along with a slightly timid smile. If this stallion was friendly, he wouldn't want to spoil the chance to be on good terms with them.

Good that meant that he really wouldn't have heard of him before. "Names 'Sedi, actually names longer but you'd get bored pronouncing it anyway so Sedi works." He shook his head to get some of the dust out of his mane before he shook himself completely.

"Don't get many of yer kind around 'ere. Hope no one tries to get ya." He grinned the smaller stallion. He doubted there was anyone around who would try 'getting' the other but it was always fun to get to someone. He needed a little excitement in his day.

"I'm Kal," he said, taking a quick step back to avoid the dust flying off the other stallion. Certainly it was just from all that running, but Kal had always made a point of keeping himself clean. His white fur would always look filthy if he let it get even the least bit dirty.

The other stallion was confusing him, he had no idea what 'his kind' was, or what it meant if someone 'got him'. "I'm sorry, I don't think I understand what you mean," he said hesitantly.

"Horns, wings ... that sort." He nodded. "Most of us 'round 'ere are boring and normal" He knew Dodger had a friend with wings but they weren't the feathered kind. He hadn't met the Tony thing but he and Dodger got along well enough to talk occasionally.

"Yer white and innocent lookin. I'm sure there's things out there that'd find ya tasty." He winked as he reached over to rub his nose against his shoulder.

"Horns and wings aren't common here?" Kal repeated as a question. He had only met two others here, but the little filly had wings, and had mentioned her sisters had horns. Maybe they were unusual too.

He tossed his head lightly to get his long bangs out of his eyes. "I watch for predators, but I don't see what that has to do with looking... innocent." Did the other stallion really mean to say he looked small and delicate? He fluffed his wings unconsciously, the action would make him look a little bigger than he really was.

"Ah've got ah big family and none of us got wings or horns. Dodge knows someone who does but his aren't like yers." He shrugged slightly as he managed to get the itch on his nose under control.

The white Stallion just didn't get it. He must have been either stupid or way to trusting to think that he'd be perfectly safe and that predators were the other thing you had to watch out for.

"I haven't met many others, do you all live in this area?" He asked, wondering how he had managed to miss meeting more soquili if Sedi's family was as big as he said it was. He also puzzled over what it could mean to have different horns or wings, but he didn't much like the answer so he put it out of his mind for other concerns.

Kal's wings fluffed up a bit more, it only made sense that Sedi had indeed referred to his small stature in his earlier comment. Maybe the other had meant predators would be more inclined to go after him because he still looked rather weak and colt-ish.

"Family's centered 'ere. Not all of us hang around here that often or show up all that often." He shook his head and looked toward the Lake. "Mama and Dah stick around and the rest of us come by as we want."

Nuka and Atsila stuck around too, more Nuka than Atsila though, even if everyone did wander occasionally. "It's a big world. Aint' surprisin that ya haven't met anyone else."

It had taken him a long while to meet someone that wasn't from his family after all.

"I don't suppose another small stallion would make the place too crowded," Kal said. Although it was a statement rather than a question, the tone was somewhat hesitant and the inflection would give Sedi an opportunity to disagree if he wanted. The white stallion would rather be warned off someone else's territory rather than chased off.

He pawed at the ground nervously with a cloven hoof, still fluffing his wings. So far his world was quite small, but he would gladly take it over all the dark nights he had endured to get here from his homeland.

"Dont' see why not." He shrugged as much as he could and tilted his head to look at the other stallion. "Big world and Dah's really only staked claim on where Mama call's home."

That was if his Dah had even bothered to claim anything. Not many but the family came around the two two-leggers camp so it seemed like a good bet.

Kal smiled, quite relieved that he wouldn't be chased off this time. "I'm glad, I like it here," he said with more friendliness than he had been able to show thus far. He even ceased his wing fluffing, even though he was still clearly smaller than the other stallion.
