Degas wasn't sure how he had missed it but now that he was here, the scent was sure that he had found Heaven. Heaven was of course a beautiful grey circular building called The Courland.

Drinking in each exhibit's beauty, emotion, and power, Degas loved it here almost as dearly as he loved himself. Thus he spent his days in it's hollowed halls drooling over kinetic horses that stampeded by him made of recycled materials and giant sculptures of people that had to squat in order to fit in corners.

Today, the scent had brought his messenger bag loaded with sketching materials and staked himself out on the second level viewing benches where the kinetics strolled by infrequent intervals sketching their movements and design.

Qadir peered up at the large museum, blinking against the light that threatened to burn his retnas. Silly museums and their refusal to stay open at night. Some such bull about security and all that jazz. But it couldn't be helped. The owner of the Courland insisted that Qadir meet with him to thank him for the 'generous' donation he'd brought back from his last treasure hunt.

Of course he'd invited Crystal along, but it was a shame that he couldn't drape his arm about her waist as his only good hand was holding up a parisol in order to keep the sun from scalding his skin. Gods he hated the day.

Flashing a smile at Crystal, he nudged her as best he could with his elbow before walking into the museum and asking for directions at the information desk after folding up the parsol. With a nod, he pointed in the direction he and Crystal needed to walk to get to the meeting, unknowing that it led right past a certain scent he'd had the pleasure of meeting before.

The flower girl was more than surprised to be invited to the museum by Qadir, and doubly so that it was during the day. Crystal was initially concerned by this little fact, but quickly was over it, seeing the vampire look so cute in his annoyance at the sun being in the sky. Of course, there was the pesky matter of the parasol and the fact that it occupied his only free hand, but she'd let it go this time. After all, she didn't want the man to think she wanted to climb all over him everytime they were together.

She wore a soft lavender summer dress, the hem just below her knees, with matching ribbons in her hair that drew a few locks of her curls back from her face. Crystal would dare say she looked nice today, a little whimsical but not childish. At least, she kept telling herself that, following Qadir quietly. It was during this silent motion and self conscious smoothing of her hands over her dress that something very green caught her attention in passing.

The woman had continued to walk, then stopped, a memory being triggered. She slowly took a few steps backwards, leaning back to get a better view of what she saw. It wasn't Kyoko - the shade of green was different - but she knew that hair. Crystal rested a hand over her chest, suddenly remembering not being able to breathe, with the cry of a young boy over head.

It was that boy! She opened her mouth to say something, but stopped, remembering that it was a Masquerade and there was a chance he wouldn't recognize her without her mask. That and she didn't even know the boy's name...what was she supposed to address him by, 'sweetie'?

Degas looked up randomly from his sketches then blinked in surprise. What the heck was a vampire doing out during the day he wondered.

"Qadir!!" He called loudly disrupting the serenity of the museum. The scent stood up and dusted himself up and smiled. "It's been forever! Since I've seen you. How-" Then the scent saw his next surprise a young lady was with the vampire. She looked oddly familiar yet he couldn't place it. "Ma'am you look familiar to me but I can't remember from where."

The man blinked as he heard his name called out. Not that it was all that uncommon, but the voice had come from a kid and that was something that didn't happen nearly as often. Turning, Qadir caught sight of the little green-haired boy with his sketch books and offered him a warm smile. He would have waved but one hand held the parasol while the other arm was bound tight in a sling.

"Well if it isn't Degas L'Artisanale! It has certainly been too long little man. How have you been?" Qadir asked before turning to look at Crystal as the boy addressed her. Being a gentleman, Qadir motioned as best he could towards the woman, "This here is the most beautiful woman you'll ever meet my boy. Unless you meet her mother and then it's just a straight tie," he joked with a warm smile. "Her name is Crystal. Crystal, this is my friend Degas. Qadir pronounced the boy's name very carefully for he knew the pride Degas carried in his name.

Crystal smiled shyly at the boy; so he did remember, at least in part. She crinkled her nose in a very unlady like fashion at Qadir's compliment, shaking her head with a bounce of curls. Her merry grey eyes turned back to the boy, extending her hand to him like she had at the Masquerade, although it was significantly less tense this time. "A pleasure to meet you formally, Degas L'Artisanale." The woman rolled her vowels as she had a tendancy to do, as if perhaps she was tasting the name to get a better feel for it.

"We have met before. I was wearing a mask," she covered part of her face with her free hand, "and the circumstances were quite chaotic with that child and its ball." Crystal's lips parted into the barest hint of a grin, her expression warm as she looked at the boy. She would not say more than that in front of Qadir if he didn't want to share the information, especially since the boy seemed to know and like the vampire. "I'm glad you are well."

The young scent smiled brightly at Qadir, then took the lady's dainty hand in his own and kissed her hand barely more than a touch of lips against flesh. "Thank you for saving me ...Crystal... well more formally than before. I see you have made a friend of my friend." Degas grinned a little "I'm doing fine these days Qadir. I'm still playing with art and other things...You seem to be in good care with your lady and well off in the light. His voice squeaked at the very end betraying a nervousness uncharacteristic for him. However the scent kept smiling despite the odd feeling in his heart from rising.

Qadir's face soured slightly at the mention of him being out in the sun and a deep sigh followed the annoyed look. "I didn't have much of a choice," he muttered, looking towards a window and giving a downright hateful stare in the direction of the sun. It wasn't that it hurt him really. Clearly he didn't go bursting into flames at just the thought of sunlight, but damn if it didn't make his eyes hurt and give him sunburn like no human could imagine if he let it touch his skin.

And thus was the reason for his overly extravagent outfit: a black parasol, black gloves, an overly long black coat buttoned up to his chin and black pants that were long enough not to reveal his ankles when he sat down. It was far too hot outside for all his dark attire, but it was better than what would happen if he felt like thaking them out. "Crystal is a great friend of mine and I'm quite pleased to find out that you know each other. Saves me a long winded introduction that would make me seem far more boring than I really am," he teased with a broad smile. "May I see what you've been sketching Degas?"

Your lady? The young woman turned an interesting shade of pink between the young man's gentlemanly greeting and his words, glancing over to Qadir just in time to see his amber eyes glower at the sun. Crystal smiled a little, sidling up next to the vampire and carefully placing an arm around his lower back. "Couldn't ask for a better person to spend the nights and day with," she agreed with Degas, "although perhaps you shall give him a run for his money." She turned her grin onto Degas, trying not to think too hard of the term 'friend' and her definition of it.

She released the black-clad man as he asked to see Degas' art, and Crystal took a respectful step back. One thing she knew about art - from personal experience - was her lack of desire to have anyone else see it. Only her parents knew and limited at that. To her, it was personal expression. If he wanted to share his art, he could, but she would not assume she was privvy to the same comfort as Qadir.

Degas nodded at the vampire's distress feeling some empathy for him. "I hope then that the sun goes down soon in order to make your time more enjoyable." He handed over the book to Quadir without hesitation as he was not shy of his art from the nude figure drawing to the abstract stick figure standing alone. "I think I think I might make a painting of this one."

Degas's Drawing

He murmured softly smiling a little at Crystal. "I have been drawing since I first emerged. I hoping one day to become an artist and have something in this fine museum or help run it."

The man gave a wide smile and a small chuckle. "I am always hoping the sun will set sooner than usual but I've found that hope does little to help me in that respect. I greatly appreciate your concern though. It is always comforting to know friends hold concern for you." At the presentation of the art, Qadir whistled softly and smiled once more, nodding in one of those approving manners.

"My Degas, this is quite good. Better than many of the pieces in this museum if I don't say so myself. I've no doubt that one day your art will grace these halls if I have any say in the matter," he said with a wink, knowing who exactly he'd come to see. Qadir turned to look at Crystal, curious as to if the woman would see the boy's art. To be honest, it wasn't to Qadir's taste but he saw the effort that Degas had put into the art and he appreciated it. "You really should see this my dear, it's simply stunning."

What an interesting term to use - 'emerged.' Crystal nodded to Degas, another smile playing over her lips. "Don't lose that dream. Qadir and I will be the first to visit when your art graces these walls." Her grey eyes shifted to the vampire before lifting a slender brow at Degas, as if in silent question if it was okay that she saw his art.

Moving to join Qadir at his side, she looked around his arm, her smile spreading into an earnest grin. "It looks as though it belongs here," she complimented Degas, moving her attention from the art to the boy. Crystal paused in thought, looking at Degas before quoting, "'To find a form that accommodates the mess, that is the task of the artist now.'"

She looked thoughtful, almost far away before her expression softened as she realized she was being awkwardly silent. "Personally, I'm...that is, I think the human form is a difficult one to capture. I'm jealous." Another grin graced her features as she winked at Degas.

Degas bowed his head a bit in thanks to their comments and compliments. He smiled brightly at them but his eyes lingered on Crystal slightly more before he turned away to watch the kinetic sculpture wander by the group. Distracted the scent lost himself in thought. His expression slid off his face like water does off stone and his voice took the blunt edge of maturity. "So what did you all come here to see? I don't want to take up too much of your time when you all have come here to enjoy each other's company."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 09, 2007 2:58 pm

Qadir's nose wrinkled in a most ungentlemanly way, but then again Qadir was the most ungentalmanly gentleman he knew, so it wasn't all that surprising for the man to have the expression upon his tanned face. "My last treasure excursion provided quite a haul for me and I had not enough room for all of it. I thought it would be best to donate it to a museum, and while this one does not deal heavily with older artifacts, their brother museums will more than happily take them off this museums hands. I've no care as to where they end up as long as they are taken care of properly."

Wrapping his arm loosely about Crystal's waist, as much for support as for a comforting embrace, Qadir continued, "Because I'm already injured and the owner of this museum would only meet me duing the light, I terribly needed the help of a friend and my dear Crystal was just the perfect maiden to call upon. Be certain though that you're not taking up any of my time. If it was my wish, I'd not be here at all as these are the hours I spend sleeping and I'm quite missing those hours." Although the man smiled wide, his expression was still lacking it's usual luster and it was clear that the injuries he was still sporting were not healing with his lack of sleep.

Crystal's smile slipped just a little as Degas moved away, and further so as Qadir talked about his excursion. While he wasn't talking about the part of it that had put him in the position he was, she was still acutely aware of his injuries. The young woman sighed delicately, slipping her arm around the vampire in turn as he continued to address the green-haired youth, fingers tracing small circles on the low of his back as she turned her own strange thoughts over in her head.

"I'm here to make sure Qadir doesn't fall asleep during the meeting," she offered kindly, turning her stormy gaze between the two males. "It's not exactly a social call." Her free hand slipped down to the one around her waist, carefully but firmly trying to remove the parasol from the vampire's grasp. He didn't need to be carrying it, and more over, he had to make sure he had the ability to use the occupied hand to greet everyone else formally.

Crystal smiled once again, her eyes resting on the back of Degas. "If you are busy, we wont keep you, but I'd like a moment more of your company if you please. It does my heart good to see you well, Degas." The Masquerade seemed like a life time ago, but she could remember each detail with clarity, from Irene's behavior to this boy's concern for her after she was hurt. If he was a friend of Qadir's, she certainly didn't want to leave him so rudely.
