Gary sighed as he looked down at Ranis, the wild child. His brown eyes clearly showed signs of exaperation and determination. The dark skinned male ran his hands through his dreadlocks.
"Short man, we gotta work on your lady skills. Eating the flower a girl gives you is not smooth." said Gary fighting to hold back a smile. Just moments ago, a sweet, little blonde-haired girl gave Ranis a little daisy. The girl was no older than the toddler but was as cute as a button. Ranis had sniffed the flower, and then proceeded to devour it. The poor girl ran off to her mother in tears.
Still, it WAS pretty funny.
Ranis snorted, but did not make eye contact with his babysitter. The two were nearby a coffee shop in a fancy downtown community, and it was quite clear that neither the illusionary or Gary belonged in this upscale neighborhood. The differences between himself and the other children were made quite clear on the local playground, infuriating the toddler and causing him to lash out in confusion at that little girl.

Silver, wearing a full cloak to hide his features, walked down the street, looking around. Normally he'd avoid such a place, but he had a job offer to check out a place and give some advice, security wise, and he could use the extra money really.

Ranis picked up a familiar scent. The toddler narrowed his eyes and flattened back his ears to concentrate on the smell. "Ba! Ba!" he barked as he tugged on his leash. The scent reminded Ranis of bacon, wich could only mean that it was his super-favorite ultra-cool ninja fighting wolf man of awesomeness, aka Silver.
"Huh? what is it, shorty?" replied Gary as he tightened his grasp on the boy's leash. It was probably something important if Ranis was reacting to something Gary couldn't see. His experience around the toddler gave the man a sense of respect that Keirro, the boy's guardian, often lacked. Ranis was good at finding important things, thought Gary couldn't understand why.

Silver was lost in his throughts as he sat down in a little corner table of the coffee shop. Waving away the waiter after getting a cup of coffee, he sipped it, his face still hidden in the deep cowl of his cloak, though it did nothing to hide his height.

Gary realized that Ranis was barking at the intimidating cloaked man. Gary took in a deep breath and misinterpreted Ranis's behavior as a warning sign of danger.
"Yeah, he can't be g- HEY!" yelped Gary as the toddler jerked him towards the stranger. Gary fought with his might to control the child.
"Silvah! Silvah!" cried Ranis as he pulled on his leash with the strength of a large dog. Why was Silver dressed all funny? Did he not like the sun? Or perhaps he was hiding from someone.

Blinking, Silver looked up a little, and gave a smile to himself. Quickly striding over, Silver knelt beside where Ranis was. "Hey bucko. What are you up to out here today?" He'll reach out one gloved hand to scritch the boy on the head, chuckling a bit.

Gary nervously chuckled. He pulled Ranis to his side and kept a iron grip on the harness attached to the toddler. That stranger looked like he could kill a man. He couldn't distinguish any features of the visage, but it was probably a face he could do without seeing.
"I'm terribly sorry sir. He's a bit wild. Not too good with manners."
Ranis snarled at Gary as he was jerked from Silver's hand. His attempts to bite Gary's fingers only resulted in discomfort as Gary grabbed the toddler's horns, restraining his head movement.

Silver stood up to his full height, and flipped back the cowl, giving a slightly nasty grin, showing his sharpish teeth. "Thats something I know all about sir. I've meet him before, and happen to be fond of the boy. Now, who might you be, and what gives you the right to treat ranis like you are?"
Silver pulled off his gloves, and folded his arms, half glaring from his uncovered eye. If Ranis showed another indication of wanting to escape this guy, well, silver had his ways to "arrange" it.

Gary nearly gave out a yelp, revealing that he possibly screamed like a girl. Holy crap, what was this guy? Gary found himself staring at the wolfman and struggled to regain his composture.
"You must know Keirro. I'm her ex boyfriend, and I'm trying to give this boy a positive influence in his life." the words came out of his mouth like molasses. This must be one of Keirro's patients. it just had to be. Why else would she know this guy?
Ranis managed to slip his horns from Gary's grip. The toddler ran up to Silver and proudly showed his incoming fangs. "RAwr!" Ranis growled as he raised his arms and flexed his fingers like claws. His couldn't understand why anyone would be afraid of Silver. In his mind, Silver was as accepted as any other human.

Silver scooped up Ranis, peering intently at his fangs when he showed them, giving a little growl and a chuckle. Turning back to the strange guy, he quirked one eyebrow.
"A positive Influence? Are you saying then that Keirro and Myself are not positive influences? That we are, somehow, inferior to you, mr. ex boyfriend? Hmmm. Must be why she dumped your a**." Silver gave another nasty grin, eye narrowing a little bit, his ears laying back on his head.

Gary restrained himself. He was hurt by Silver's harsh words. It was obvious that the wolf was concerned with Ranis, but didn't know the full story about Keirro. Gary drew as much strength as he could to express to a snarling Silver his concerns about his former girlfriend.
"Keirro was worried about what people would say if they knew she had a kid. She's SO concerned with her own self image...I just want- God, how can say this? I just want Ranis to grow up knowing that people care about him, no matter what he looks like. " sighed Gary as he looked sadly at the toddler. He would kill to have Ranis look up to him like that.
Ranis grabbed onto Silver and wrapped his arms around the Fa'e neck. The little toddler laughed and giggled as Silver flashed his fangs at Gary, unaware that the Fa'e was intimidating the poor man.

Quirking an eyebrow again, Silver will give a small chuckle. "Buddy, you don't get around a lot, do you? If you know where to look, there are people around that make me and ranis look normal. Just last night I had dinner with 2 women that where snakes from the waist down and a man that was half dragon. I own a club that only lets those that are not human in. Trust me when I say that while the kid will have a hard time, he'll be cared for."
Silver sat down in one of the chairs, ignoring the other looks he was getting from the patrons, still holding Ranis in one arm as his other reached over and scooped up his cup of coffee, taking a sip.

Gary returned the chuckle with a relaxed smile. He definately learned something just now.
"I grew up in a small town. I guess it made me a simple man. You know, I think if the two of us work together, we could really show the little lion the best of both worlds. " Gary replied as he sat across from Silver.
Ranis curiously sniffed the drink in Silver's hand. It seemed that t was very hot. Keirro also enjoyed hot drinks. Maybe she would like Silver's. The little toddler reached for the cup of joe.

"Ah ah ah. No coffee for you Ranis. Your energetic enough as is." Silver will stop a moment, and look at Gary. "Maybe. Then again, sometimes people just have to walk their own path. You can never tell where it may lead." He'll drink down the rest of his coffee, and set down the cup, looking up at the air for a moment. "I grew up in a house out in the middle of nowhere, and my friends where all as odd as I, so I can't say for certain. I just hope his life is in no way as interesting as mine has been so far. Then again, i've lived to triple the life expectancy that was first theorized about me and the other fa'e, so I guess thats a good thing."
He'll rest his chin on his free hand, staring off into space as he thinks a moment, eye distant as he considers his past and possible future.

"That's understandable. But even you know that a house starts with a good foundation. " Gary looked out to the groups of people passing by. He had a tendency to wonder about the stories that other people had to tell about thier lives. Silver probably had enough to fill a novel.
"There's so much more to life than living by people's expectations. I miss the country life at times. I'm thinking about taking Keirro and Ranis camping after he gets baptized. "
Ranis frowned as Silver denied the hot drink. The toddler sighed as he thought about another way to obtain a gift for Keirro. Rainis tugged at Silver's ears in playful boredom. The toddler giggled at the sight of a woman that carried a giant purple afro.
