The minute I saw the trailer for "The Island" I knew it was a knock off of "Parts; the Clonus Horror" but I didn't know just how much of a knock off. Apparently it's enough of a knock off that the director of Parts is sueing the makers of "The Island". His main complaint is "The Island" claims to be from an original screenplay when several scenes are dead ringers for scenes in "Parts". The direct wants credit where credit is due. What are your thoughts?

Probably because it didn't have an opening weekend nearly as good as his earleir films. *coughArmageddoncough*

Here's the offical report from the Seattle Times. Personally, I think the whole thing is funny and once "Island" hits the $2 theather in my neighborhood I'll check it out.

Been a while, but I finally got my computer fixed AND a decent internet connection.
During my absence I took the time to read Kevin Murphy's new book "A Year at the Movies". If you are ever looking for a good book, one that actually relaxes you and makes you laugh, read "A Year". It is WELL worth the money spent on the book and the time reading it!

Apparently I am cursed to only update the things I start once a year or something. Not good.
MSTIE NEWS!!!
Though YouTube has recently been bought by Google, you can still type 'MST3K' or 'Myster Science Theater 3000' into the search engine (member or not) and find several Mike and Joel episodes for your viewing pleasure. Good news is this is an easy way to view your favorite episodes not yet released on DVD. Bad News is they are usually broke up into 10 or 12 segments for easy/fast uploading and downloading times. Good News is you can aslo find neat little extras like the Sci-Fi special MST3K Summer Blockbuster Reviews, cut scenes, interview and cameos the guys made on other shows. Bad News is this may or may not be legal, but the same can be said of Napster, Bitturrent, Kazaa and BearShare.
A few months ago there was a fellow on YouTube who declared himself the unofficial flame bearer of MST3K by MSTing a bunch of video game trailers featured at E3. They weren't bad but the poor guy got flamed so much by die hard fans who took offense to the videos that he has since removed all his videos and cancled his membership. It is very much sad. sad
