Oo-k, my mom is really strange.
I was watching Oban tonight, I was just so thrilled that it was on at 9:30, I just plopped down in the middle of the family room while my mom was at the computer, and watched (it was Fierce Like Furter)
So, I came in when Jordan and Molly managed to get away from the furter crew with the help of the drudgers, and then when they're getting prepped for the race, my mom says that she's practically the same girl from Spirited Away(meaning Chihiro, which she doesn't know, apparently Oo) and actually at first I thought she was talking about Koji...
Me: Spirited Away?!? Oo Mom:Yeah, she looks just like her! Me: Wha-ha??? They look nothing alike! --Later on in the show-- *Don Wei says something on the TV* Mom: Tom Hanks??(as in his voice) Me: *dies*
xp I dun get it....

Old lady: sing us a song Tom Jones! everyone else: he's not Tom Jones. sorta reminds me of when my mom thought eiko from FF9 wasn't wearing any pants. Come On! nobody's skin is that pink, I don't care how white you are.

Haha. My dad watched the first episode with me and said what everyone else said about the show, "It looks like a star wars rip off."

Eh...Dad watched it every Monday with us he liked it so much - and there's only three anime/cartoon shows total he watches consistently like that, so it's saying a bit (the other two are Get Ed and Avatar). Mom's only question was over why they didn't have noses...good think 'evolution' is a good excuse for anything depicted as futuristic.

lol, yeah, my dad made the Star Wars connection too... Took one look at the star racers, and said "Hey, that's the same thing as a pod racer!" I'll have to go back and watch the Star Wars movies...
I generally don't watch my anime around my parents...Mom gripes about things like voices (especially in the Japanese versions....Tohru Honda of Fruits basket is one of her favorites to rag on...) and then dad disses the animation..."Only their mouths ever move! it's cheap!" he says... rolleyes
He'd probably be one of the "OMGwtf, where's their noses??" people if he ever sat down and watched Oban Star Racers...And I'd drive him crazy and say, "evolution did it," as a response. He's religious like that and he already tries to get me to 'come back' to being Christian, so it'd be funny xd

bleh uber religous people give me migranes and i relly have to restain myself around them! i've got a button that summ's it up nicely "born again pagan"
was she complainin about the english or japanese voice for tohru? at any rate the english voice actress was by far one of my favorites!!! mrgreen i cant help but hear her and get shivers. i just absoloutely love her voice and its best on fruits basket heart heart . if ya didnt know she's also been on blue gender (marlene angel), Basilisk (oboro whee ), DBZ ( young trunks and young chi-chi among others.), full metal alchemist (LUST heart ), Gunslinger girls (henrietta soo cute), NEGIMA!!! (evangiline and ayaka!), and many many more. lol if ya cant tell i'm a big fan. she's also not very hard on the eyes wink
lately ive gotten to the point where i can watch anime and faily easily pick out the voice actors like for instance Motoko kusanagi "the major"(GST) is also the doc on Eurka 7 "Do you want to know more?" cick below. btw i'm also a big starship troopser fan lol laura bailey

lol, well, my dad isn't exactly what you'd call uber-religious, I mean, my family hasn't gone to church since I was 1, he just still thinks he can convert me. It's really fun when he talks to me about demons...Cause there are a lot of good stories with demons in the Otaku world! I love demons...
And I think she was ragging on the Japanese voice, she was complaining about how high pitched the voice actor was. stare Um, hello! She's Japanese, they have a bit different of voice inflections, get used to it, dammit! x_X Just a good thing that she didn't see Momiji...I think the guy who does Kyo and the guy who does Shigure are my favorite on that show. Kyo's actor (we're talkin' english right here) just has a great voice, it's so soft...and Shigure's, well, he's just awesome and funny and plays Gure-san so well. Abel Nightroad on Trinity Blood, too^^
But what am I talking about Voice actors in Fruits Basket like this for, this is an Oban guild! O_o *punishes self*
*ahem* anyway....Oh! Savin actually did address the Star Wars similarities in one of his recent question volleys, he was actually in production of the show when that part of Star Wars came out, but hell if he was going to change anything because of it... Maybe I'll post it somewhere soon... ninja

Ok, Ok, I got another load of insane parental musings here...My mom finally asked the Nose question.
Last night ; Surprising Like Super-Racer. Mom: Where are their noses? Sheba: It's just part..*BURSTS OUT IN MANIACAL LAUGHTER* (I was on my way to say 'It's just part of the style') Mom and Dad: O.o; ...? Mom: What was that about? Sheba: You-Finally-asked-the-nose-question-OMG *In between more laughter* regretfully, I didn't remember the 'Evolution did it' line at the time... >.< Mom: *sees Rick* He doesn't have a nose either! Sheba: *who is over her fit of giggles* Well duh, none of them have noses. rolleyes Mom: *sees Aikka* It's a gingerbread boy!! Sheba: scream *rage* (That's just so bad, it's practically racism! ;_; ) Mom: *Aikka goes into his fighting stance* He's doing the thing from Karate Kid! Sheba: *palm-Forehead* Dad: *sees Jordan* That guy doesn't have a nose, but he's got long white lines on his face where his nose should be! Sheba: Yeah, those are freckles... Dad: Long white freckles? wtf? :/ Dad: *Satis shares some wisdom* Yoda! Sheba: biggrin Dad: *Alwasian bird flies over the water* What kind of bird is that?! We don't have any of those things on earth! Sheba: Of course we don't, this is Alwas! Dad: you mean they're not on Earth? Sheba: No! They're on a foreign planet! Did all the squids running around not clue you in? XD Mom: *in reference to Molly* Well, she doesn't have a nose, but she has boobs, guess we know what's important! Sheba: O_O *dies* *Head/Keyboard* WTF.

Heh... Yeah, adults usually don't get it... *sigh* My dad likes to know at least the basic story line of whatever I'm watching, but my mom doesn't... Like your mom Sheba says that their mouths are the only things that move, mine says that their mouths only move once every other sentene. And also that they scream all the time... They're not screaming, they're being dramatic! ... domokun They haven't really asked about the noseless thing though... Commented on it, but no real questioning. Although I do have some joy. 3nodding Both my parents know who Aikka is, and I know my dad commented to my grandma how the Aikka shirt I have has Aikka all serious, when he isn't like that in the show. heart (Plus both my parents are into Avatar. 4laugh I've even got them annoyed at how third season gave Aang hair. whee They care enough to be annoyed!! 4laugh My work here is done. wink )

*dies from laughing so hard at Seba and her parents* OMG! That is hiarlious! I wish my parents were like that. They are usually watching another show on the other side of the house when I go into "anime-crazed mode" as my sister and brother call it.
The first time I watched Oban I didn't even noticed that their noses where missing until the 4th episode (I think...) where my sister pointed it out to me.
me: omg... you are so right! sis: how could you not notice?! that guy's glasses are just floating there! (in referance to Koji) me: they are?! O.O sis: *slaps forehead*
