Aphi walked into the house, still cradling the baby Gwee in his arm.
"I gotta go to work soon, darling. I'll leave you here," he said, placing the carrier and the baby Gwee in a large box in the living room, which they'd only recently emptied of stuff. He put in a blanket from one of the couches, as well as a pair of pillows. "You behave, okay? I'll be back a bit later after I get ready."
Hoping the baby wouldn't crawl her way out of the box, or chew a big hole in it and escape, Aph walked up the stairs to get ready for work.
Munchies growled and yelped at being left alone, protesting with all her baby might. How dare he leave her in this big brown thing? With fluffy things and pouffy things? Ooh, soft...
Thouroughly distracted, Munchies stopped her mewling and turned her attention to the pillows, poking at them with her claws... They were fun! Squealing happily, she threw herself on the pillow, wrestling it.

Then, slowly ... softly ... Did the song arise.
Strauss - Thus Spake Zarathrustra - Sunrise
And from the eastern corner of the box, did the bulbous red head slowly rise, like the awakening sun! The light glistened upon his marvelous red rubbery skin, making his body the perfect picture of air-born marine life!
YES!
It was Beauregard! Beauregard the Operatic Whale!
And with a curious blue eye and tilt of his brow muscle did he gaze upon the green wyrmling in the cardboard box. When it began wrestling the pillow, Beau promptly ended 'Sunrise' and began pumping out 'Eye of the Tiger'.

Munchies, at first, didn't think anything was out of the ordinary when music suddenly droned into being. It had been so gradual and appropriate, that she didn't notice it.
When the song changed, however, she turned a large red eye to the top of the box. There was something there! A big red floaty-ball! It was making the musics! Chirping happily at having another toy, Munchies crouched down, shook her tail-end a few times to gain momentum, and launched herself up, batting at the ball with her little paws, trying to nab it so she could roll it around.

The sound that came out of Beauregard's shocked throat rather sounded like a bagpipe that had been kicked. With the quick paddle of his tail, he tried to spur himself out of the way of the launched green thing and managed to slip out of the little clawed embrace. Making a quick u-turn in the air, Beauregard turned again on the little green box and frowned at it. It certainly wasn't a damsel in distress, that's for sure. Well, then ... What was it?

Awwww, the ball rolled away. Having no concept of gravity, it wasn't odd at all for the ball to have rolled in mid-air. Munchies kept her wide, curious eyes on the red rubber thing, but she walked around in tight circles in the box, as though if she walked enough, she could make her way up there and get the thing! When she realized she was getting no closer, the small Gwee skipped over to the side of the box and put her front claws on it, bringing herself upright and as close as possible to the red ball-thing. She then squeaked at it and mewled slightly, as though to coax it into coming closer.

Beauregard made the best confused face he could make with his limited facial structure and muscles. Perhaps it wasn't as dangerous as it seemed ... With the paddle of his tail and a bit of steering with his fins, the red whale slowly moved himself closer to the box, close enough so he could be slightly touched by the green wyrmling.
It was then that he began to sing Police's Don't Stand So Close to Me.

Just as Munchies was about to put a claw carefully on the rubber ball, it started to make music again! The Gwee baby jumped backwards and peeped loudly, followed by a series of angry chirrups at being surprised.
At this close distance, Munchies could see that the ball had what looked like a mouth, and eyes... and that the music was coming from it just the same as the noises came from humans when they were squeaking at each other. But the rubber ball wasn't a human, was it?
Munchies stopped her protesting and plopped on her scaly green rump, titling her head at the whale. This was by far the weirdest ball she'd ever seen in her short and uneventful life... And, by her standards, she was a ball expert!
She decided to lay down and keep an eye on this rubbery human-ball-thing... But she couldn't help her tail from twitching with the music. Hey what do you know, she enjoys the arts!

At first, Beauregard was startled by the angry sounding chirps, but then when the wyrmling laid down and twitched her tail in time with the music, Beauregard's brow muscles moved up in wonder. So, it was young and cute and it knew how to keep in time with music. That made the little green thing appeasing in Beauregard's eyes. Slowly moving closer to the box, Beauregard finished with Police and began to sing Sleepless from some female singer Isi was listening to earlier that day.

Munchies almost purred when the new song started. She enjoyed music a lot, it seemed! She never just sat there and listened before. Her bulky head began to swing along with her tail, and within a few moment the baby found herself trying to guess what the next notes will be, Cheep-Cheeping notes that sometimes hit, sometimes missed the mark.
She liked the rubber ball! She wanted to chew it! It was out of reach though, so she had to content herself with reaching out and clamping her mouth on the hem of a pillow, pulling it to her and turning on her back so that she could hook her little legs on it and chew at her leisure. Her tail still twitched, and although her mouth was full, she still let out muffled Chirrups of musical notes, eyes closed happily.
This was fun!

Beauregard moved closer to the box, close enough so that he could reach in with his fin and stroke the top of the little dragon's head. He was extremely pleased when she began to try and sing along with his music. So pleased, that he actually grinned in between songs at the little dragon and decided to test her with easier songs he had heard from Isi's Disney collection last week. So he started with 'Jaberwocky'.
"Twas brillig and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe All mimsy were the borogroves And the mome raths outgrabe!"

Munchies, her eyes closed, didn't yet make the connection between being touched and feeling petted, so she didn't realize the ball must be touching her when her head was stroked. She simply Cheeped happily and munched on the pillow with renewed vigor.
The new song was much easier, and she would have startled many a person with how accurate she could be. She was, of course, not very good, but for a Gwee she was a prodigy! Her tail was flicking about as though keeping a beat, and she almost seemed to be dancing with the pillow, swaying left and right in turn. Once in a while the pillow would escape her jaws long enough for her to let out a particularly forceful squeek, but for the most part she was muffled and quiet.

Hmm ... The green thing must like music and pillows. Beauregard petted the wyrmling once more before he briefly left the box so he could abduct the nearby pillows from the couch. One by one, they began to pile up and in and around the cardboard box. When all seven of the nearby pillows of room were surrounding the cardboard box, Beauregard relaxed on one of them and resumed stroking the head of the little green thing.
Now ... If the little green thing couldn't make words yet, then perhaps he should sing a song with no words. Softly, he switched to Loreena McKennitt's Huron "Beltane" Fire Dance.

Munchie's eyes popped open when something soft and poufy fell on her. Oh, another pillow! and another! GASP! It was raining pillows! She let go of her own and tried to catch each one that fell. When they were all done raining, the red rubber music ball came down!
Munchie trotted over to it and bumped her green head against it before settling down under a pillow like before, clutching it in her legs and gnawing on it with her eyes closed, humming along quite well for a Gwee and twitching her tail. Every once in a while she would stop chewing long enough to lean her head back and rub it on Beauregard happily.

Beauregard smiled happily at the Gwee and continued singing to it, changing from songs that had no words to songs that had easy words and so on. Eventually he got to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, and promptly got tongue-twisted when he had to say the word backwards.
"Suoicodilaipxeci...Suoicodilaipxecitsili..." he muttered, but then he gave up and continued onto the next Mary Poppins song.
To Beauregard, this looked like the beginning of a fantastic new friendship.
