Sen had a theory.

--Actually, Sen had a lot of theories. About... Well, about everything. But this! This was BRAND NEW theory, so it was different. This one she had only thought about after meeting the Goddess, and only came to a conclusion about recently.

Some of her siblings gave her odd looks when she babbled on about her run-in with the winged beast. A few of them even chuckled when she cried out, 'I TOLD you lions could fly!'

Oh, she'd show them.

So, her new line of thinking was such: The Goddess must have gotten her wings because she tried really hard to get them. It just didn't make any sense for her to just have them, right? You'd have to earn something like that!

"OOOF!" the cub squeaked, toppling face first into the mud. Again. Luckily, the recent rains that had passed had left the ground soft enough that she wasn't cracking her skull open repeatedly jumping off a rock like this.

It was a boring ol' day around the den, living near water left the area rather muddy and soggy after rain- which was fine if someone actually wanted to play with you in it or something, but Mafuriko quickly found that no one was interested right now. So the disappointed cub had gone off to look for someone fun to play with, or something fun to do on his own. He wasn't paying much attention as he walked along, and didn't notice that he was so near someone until something in the corner of his eye shifted and was followed by a squishy thump sound and squeak.

"Huh?" he wrinkled his nose, and turned to where the sound had come from. Curiosity and his boredom drove Mafuriko to go investigate- obviously someone had fallen, or jumped. But why?

"What're you doing?" the cub questioned when he found the cub in the mud. Asking if she was alright didn't even cross his mind, he wasn't too sensitive to those kinds of things and as far as he could tell she didn't look like she was hurt badly or anything.

Just as well. Sen certainly didn't want any pity, especially not from some little cub she didn't even know. (It tended to escape her mind she was still a cub herself, but nevermind that.)

After all, those who could fly, in her mind, were to be anything but pitied. Ooh. Her siblings would be so jealous. They'd HAVE To believe her then! About the Goddess, too! Ha!

She blinked, pulling herself out of the daydream she'd unknowingly drifted into to. "Learning to fly," said the female simply, in the tone of voice one would expect to end with 'duh'.

Mafuriko stood nearby waiting to hear what was going on, and when Sen declared she was learning to fly- and like it was obvious- he gave her a look like she was crazy. He'd heard of flying lions, his nephew had been telling him something about it before, but this cub didn't look like she had wings. Any mention of the ability to hide wings was forgotten- he hadn't been paying that much attention to Wahabu's story.

"But you don't have any wings," he pointed out loudly, not exactly trying to be tactful in pointing it out. Why bother doing that when her tone wasn't so friendly either.

Oh, sure. Go along with the crowd and point something like that out. The cub grumbled mentally, and then mused over how to word it so such a... normal being could understand it.

She decided on, "I'm going to have them." Eventually.

After she'd been flying on the back of that Goddess, there was no way she could give up now. Of course, since being wings meant being a Goddess, she still had to figure out what she was going to rule over.

"I'm going to be a Goddess."

Mafuriko continued to look at her as if she'd lost her mind. He had an imagaination, but it was so much easier just to think it was impossible- especially since she seemed to certain. It wasn't hard to picture the stranger with wings, but he just couldn't imagine growing them. If she could, then couldn't anybody? Could you really become a goddess?

"How are you going to get wings, then?" he asked, making a very vague attempt at sounding interested in what she might say though he was clearly expecting to just have a laugh about it.

"Obviously, I couldn't tell you," Sen sharply responded. The look she gave him was not quite a glare, but rather... The expression resembled one of dissaproval, one a parent might give to their cub for wandering too far from home or for fighting with their brother or sister. It was strange on the face of one so young, yet, almost convincing.

"You have a pretty big mouth, and if I told you, you would tell everyone. Then everyone would be one. And there just aren't enough things to rule over."

Hopefully, his tiny, mortal brain could understand him, she thought. The cub scurried back up the rock and jumped---

--and landed with a thud.

"You can't tell me because you don't know, or you really can't," Riko snapped back smugly, confident in what he said and having no problem saying what he thought when he got such a tone and look from a perfect stranger. If she didn't want to explain, she didn't have to- just like he didn't have to fall for something she was obviously dumb enough to believe. Still smirking, he took a couple steps back and settled in comfortably when she got back onto the rock. If she was going to try to fly this way, then he thought it would be worth the watch.

When she landed, he snickered quietly. If this had something to do with getting her wings, and he assumed it did, it wasn't working very well.

The way Sen's eyes drew together. The way her nose drew back before sticking up high-and-mighty in the air. These were indications that the unwelcomed guest had hit a sore spot, but she wasn't about to give him the satisfaction of knowing it. Actually, she wasn't going to give him the time of day.

When all else fails, ignore, ignore, ignore.

Reguardless of the on-looker being present, Sen kept trying. Over and over.

Until something caught her eye, and suddenly, she was following it.

Riko's smugness intesified when he got even the slightest reaction out of Sen, and continued the more she tried and failed. His laughing became more obvious and more obnoxious as time went on and it became clear he was being ignored. The best way to fight back against being ignored was to make it so you were harder to ignore, of course.

"You're doing it wrong," he pointed out calmly, though he had no idea what was the right or wrong way. She hadn't sprouted feathers yet, so he assumed it was wrong.

What was that?

Sen stared at the same spot for a long while, then shook her head. Perhaps she was seeing things? It might have been a leaf blowing by, something like that. She had more important things to worry about.

"Like you would know," she curtly said to Riko. Upon the realization she'd made contact with this...this...this mortal AGAIN, she ground her teeth together.

Back up on the rock the white cub went.

It took Riko a moment to realize that she wasn't even paying attention to what she was doing, let alone him, and with a raised eyebrow he looked off in the direction she was staring out at. He didn't get a good look for Sen soon snapped back at him. The cub couldn't help but childishly make a face at her when she did, though he was pleased to have managed to get her attention against her will again.

"I wonder how many times she'll try," he wondered out loud, very loud, "Or how long it'll be before she gets hurt." He wouldn't normally want anyone to get hurt, and he didn't really want it to happen but he was intent on bothering her. When he'd gone looking for fun, he hadn't expected something like this but was entertained. If she did manage to completely ignore him, he knew he would get bored of it rather quickly.

Hurt? Psssh.

It hadn't ever crossed Sen's mind. Not after various cuts, various bruises. Not after she'd been with her particularly annoying brother and fallen through an elephant skeleton. Not after she'd jumped off Pride Rock (her mother had caught her, thankfully), and been scolded for a straight hour.

Hurt was just a word she refused to acknowledge the exsistance of. What did some annoying stranger cub know?

Ignoreignoreignoreignore.

As she failed again, and returned to the stone, her eyes almost instincitvely jerked to the left. There it was again! Was her brother out here?! Maybe he was going to tell Mama what she was doing and get her in trouble?!

"I'll get you first!" the cub wailed, and jumped from the rock, bounding toward...whatever it was.

"Oh, maybe-" Riko said, still in a loud enough voice for Sen to hear clearly, as she jerked to the left. He expected that maybe she might lose her footing doing something like that, and despite whatever inclination he'd have to want to be proven right he did get to his feet in case something happened. He was particularly confused when she shouted, and turned his own gaze off in the direction- and again he was distracted from getting a good look as suddenly the cub leapt from the rock and bounded away.

"What the heck?" he mumbled, and hesitantly took a step in the direction she'd gone off in. He was certainly confused now, and wondered if she really was crazy- yelling at nothing. If she was, he'd have to be there to make fun of her again, though! So Riko finally decided to hop off after her.

With the creature backed into a pile of rocks, Sen slid to a stop. Her ears flattened. Realization was a b***h sometimes. "A rabbit?" she said aloud. Sighing, the cub stepped back and let the creature take off.

It was around the same size and color as her brother, but... What a waste! Valuable flying time had been spent chasing the thing! She should have known he wasn't that fast.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

The ground quivered underneath her, and Sen watched,wide-eyed, as a single elephant stomped slowly past.
