Things hadn't been going so well lately. Needless to say, Ikuinen was getting tired of it. All of the children he'd spoken with didn't seem quite willing to grasp his ideals. And all of the adults... Well, to be honest, he hadn't thought converting them would be easy at all. And it hadn't been. All in all, though his mission wasn't truly to convert but merely to spread the word, he was still aggitated.

Stretching out under the shade of a tree, he stared blankly at the visible side of the Realm HQ. He imagined all the Kitsu inside. What fools they were. Some day they would realize that his words were true. After all, something cold enough to steal memories certainly couldn't be trusted. The world had forsaken him and soon it would forsake everyone. Setting his head on his paws, pale eyes slipped shut.

How could one think such troubled thoughts on a normally weathered day like this? Nahanni didn't think it sunny, merely just hot. Sunny would be too emotionally tied of a word. Tanned paws moved her forward, murky eyes not caring for details and hiding behind her curtain of red hair. Much of her family was busy doing their own thing, and all in different places. So the young daughter had decided to simply wander about, no real goal in mind.

Though, the only trail she knew was to HQ, so follow it she did. She sighed and lifted her head when it came into view. She was now here, but had no interest of actually going inside. That would bring up chatting and greetings she'd not be into. Tails flicked patiently as she scanned about, catching sight of a bright hued pelt. Not of abnormal colors, but a earth tone too rich to be the ground. Curious, she moved closer.

Sleeping wasn't something the male was very good at. Though that may sound strange, a good amount of time was spent forcing himself to stay awake. After all, asleep, he couldn't protect himself. And now, settled so close against the border of the forest, he certainly wouldn't let himself wander. The woods represented nature at its fullest; the world at its 'best.' At times, the mask of nature brought him pleasure, which confused him. Usually, however, his dislike was evident.

This time, sleep tugged at him harshly. It'd been a while since his last significant rest and the day was gentle enough to allow it. Against his principles, he felt himself drifting, until- Ears perked, leading his entire head as he lifted it from his paws. Something had sounded behind him. He wasn't quite sure what. Pale eyes narrowed as he waited. Whatever it was, it wouldn't sneak up on him.

Head tilted as Nahanni soon recognized the form. It was that kitsusagi who she had met as a kit quite some time ago. She halted her movement when she was a polite distance from the other. Was he asleep? The appearance seemed so, until ears and head soon lifted. But didn't turn.

The sashed femme's own ears drooped back, her tummy getting anxious as to what to do. But she knew this fellow already, so...it shouldn't be that hard to talk. Right? Murky eyes turned down hesitantly before looking back at the other. "Iku?" Her voice was soft and timid.

She prayed that it was indeed him and not a total stranger.......

For a moment, Ikuinen wondered angrily if the woods at his back were merely playing him as a fool. It would probably be best if he just moved up to the side of the HQ, where he usually took to sitting. All three tails swished away from his body and it looked like he was about to move. And then he heard something which quickly stayed his form. His ears once again moved before his head, sliding back against his skull. The voice was familiar, yet different, and he couldn't quite place a paw on why. Finally looking back, he was surprised to say the least.

But no, it couldn't be her, could it? Not the little kit he'd grown overly attached to, depsite the fact that she probably didn't like him much. Not many did. Empty eyes narrowed on the femme not far off. He didn't want to believe it. The world had claimed something else important to him. "Nahanni..." he muttered in a greeting that made him feel unpleasant. His tails curled in a protective manner back around his body.

Her reply was left hanging for but a tense moment before the other finally turned. Nahanni's eyes quickly fell to the ground, unsure of anything passed first greetings. Head remained tipped down as eyes peeked up. She could not understand his expressions, as mute as they were. Nor could she decipher his jumbled emotions with her empathy.

Tails curled inward and under her at the long silence. Was that...her cue to begone? Her form jumped lightly at his voice, and his tone made her own courage sink. His voice sounded almost...dissappointed. Paws backstepped slightly, the young kitsu not sure what to do or say.

Banded tails twitched at the tips. He'd noted her step backwards. There was something inside of him that almost wanted to turn away and let her go. That same something forced him to swollow the unusal feelings he had. Of course, now he only felt choked. "I see you've grown..." he finally said, voice pushed back to its regular, cordial sort of tone. "I didn't think it'd been that long."

Turning away for just a moment, he swished his tails away and pushed himself to his feet before looking back. It was easy enough to tell that she was nearly as big as him now. The realization made his form unsteady as he stood. Normally, when kits became adults, he gave them up for gone. With Nahanni, he felt denial. He wanted to drop the mask he wore and straight tell her that her growth hurt him. Yet, he couldn't.

Nahanni nodded quietly, almost to herself. She could feel her paws sweat, and so she swept her tails side to side to cool the air around her. At least his voice wasn't strained anymore.

Ears perked and she watched like a skiddish cat as Iku stood. Seemed his emotions were calming as well, as they weren't as harsh against her mind. Though the basic touches she could sense were still a confusing blur to her. Chin lifted as she pondered what he would do himself. She, on the other hand, was getting ansty standing in one place. She moved forward in a shallow arch, till she was the same distance from him, only now at his left side. "And...what have you been up to....Iku?..."

Brows rose curiously as he watched her. The movement was strange and he wondered idly why she even bothered to move if not to move closer. Turning, he arranged himself so they were once again facing. He didn't try to move closer for fear her jumpy nature would cause her to run. Again, something inside him wanted that. And, then again, something even stronger didn't.

"Me?" he questioned, canting his head in a Iku-like way, looking almost normal as he slipped on a masking grin. "Nothing exciting." No doubt. "Just spreading the word. I'm sure you remember... like when we first met." The memory was a treasured one. Despite how dark the world was to him now, he would find a way to hate it more if it took this memory from him. Though his mind wouldn't recall, he was sure his being would. "And what have you been up to, tyttö?"

As he adjusted to her moved location, she kept one side to him, not facing him directly. It was a method she liked to keep to, leaving all sides open for glancing or darting. Unless there was a wall to curl up against.

Nothing exciting? Well, that was a normal case of living that she found acceptable, if not enjoyable. Compared to the hectic lifestyles of her massive family. Eyes hinted recognition at the word he was speaking of. She herself may have never taken it to heart, but it was always something to consider. Especially with how different and almost enlightening it was; totally opposite to those of her families beliefs. Head tilted in blank confusion. "Ty...tytto? What is that? I've.....done nothing much. Just the normal readings....." How unexciting, and that was fine for her.

"Tyttö merely means 'girl,'" he revealed upon her request. He'd found it to his liking to fit certain others with a little title of sorts. It was similar to the way he sometimes called Gabriel siipirikko, or winged. A harmless habit and one he wasn't often willing to stop for the sake of others. Yet, with this female, he was willing to make an acception. "Would you prefer I didn't call you that?" He asked idly, canting his head in a curious matter. In his time, he'd met many different personalities and clashed with many different opinions. He didn't doubt being called something of a foreign tongue could possibly bother someone.

Pondering the rest of her words, he chuckled lightly. He didn't read much. In fact, not at all. Most books radiated certain feelings. And most of those feelings went against what he believed. He found it wise to keep away from the written word. "It seems we've both been quite idle, doesn't it?" He tried to stop himself at that, but his thoughts pushed past in the second or two he let down his guard to laugh. "Besides your growth, of course. I'm sure becoming an adult was exciting." Both 'adult' and 'exciting' were stressed in a bitter sort of way.

Nahanni tilted her head cutely in blank confusion. She had never heard another language before, and it was interesting to hear. Girl, huh? No harm in that, it was the truth afterall. She shook her head softly. "That's...okay." Even if it was something rude, she'd find it difficult, if not terrifying, to protest such name calling. Brows raised as she observed him chuckling, not knowing what a rare sight that was in itself. She was more hesitant as to what he was laughing at. But Iku kept it to himself, instead speaking about idle nature. "I suppose so."

Tails swayed to one side, pondering his mention of growth. She was timid, with little experience of emotions. But she did recognize tone, to a fearful degree. Her ears drooped at his words. "Exciting?" Was it something to celebrate? She simply grew, nothing much else changing. "Do you...resent me grown? I'm still me...."

Ikuinen nodded. He rarely used the titles to address, but at least for now he wouldn't have to remember not to use it on her. Thinking it was a bit safer at this point, he took a small step closer. Of course, just to make sure, he sat immediately after, wanting to prove there was no hostility in the gesture. Tails wrapped protectively around his paws as he awaited her answer to his last statement. It certainly hadn't been something he wanted to say, yet, there was no way to take it back now.

"Resent?" The last of her words had been too quiet to hear, but surely he didn't. But that part of him so hell-bent on hiding emotions wanted to tell her he did. However, he knew if he were to do so, it would be a blatant lie. He could already feel pressure building behind his eyes from the almost-lies in their conversations. "Of course I don't resent you, dear Nahanni." He smiled. It was nearly gentle. Still, there was something about this male that didn't allow 'gentle.' "I resent the world we live in, is all." Under normal circumstances, he would've just twisted her words into a question, rather than tell the truth.

Titles were never used on Nahanni's tongue, except for those of mother and father, brother and sister. So this new system of naming was something she didn't think on for too long. His movement made her stiffen, but otherwise she remained placid. She had sat close to him before, and had said then that feeling threatened was something she just dealt with. Besides, he assured her no such threat when he immediately sat down. Her own tails mirrored his, moving to curl around her feet as she sat.

Murky eyes watched him as he seemed to debate her question, and she felt her tummy tighten. Was her question that hard to answer? She had thought it'd be a simple yes or no matter. It was, after all, an emotionless concern of aging. His answer brought no pain or comfort, just a simple nod at hearing the others opinion. "The world...." Such a thing was too...enormous and undiscovered for her mind to take in or understand. "What...what did it do?"

"Something I find myself too bitter to forgive," he muttered in answer. It'd been quick and not very well thought out, but it was pretty much what he'd felt. A deep down feeling kept him from revealing anything in detail right off. When he'd told Gabriel why he hated the world, she'd thought him foolish. Well, that had upset him quite a bit. After all, who was she to say how he should feel about it? She had no idea how it had effected him.

Looking off for a moment, he took in the surroundings. His expression was placid, almost thoughtful. "The world...." he paused, shutting pale eyes to the outside. "The world took something important from me. I resent the world because it made you grow. It took away your childhood. Just like mine." Of course, by that he meant memories. Whatever had happened when he was a kit, he couldn't remember a thing of it. "One day I just woke up and was an adult. I couldn't remember why or where I'd come from. I just was." Not having a past made him feel like less of a Kitsu. Chuckling, he continued sarcastically. "I suppose that makes me as weak and foolish as those I preach to, hm?"
