Was Christine right about leaving the Phantom and betray him for continuing her life with Raoul?

If I was Christine, no matter if the Phantom had scared me because I pulled of his mask, I would love him still.
The poor guy hadn't any love or compassion from anyone. The only thing people made him feel about himself, was that he was a monster. And by the way, he's the one who teached everything about song to Christine. Without him, she would be a normal ballerina, like anyothers who would finish her career in the street because of age.
What about Raoul? Sure he's brave and good looking. A young man from a good family. Very proud of having his fine horses and remains a slave of fashion. What so extraordinary about that? If you compare him to the Phantom who is extremely talented and way more appealed and charming, Raoul is nothing!

Movie wise, I wish she did go with the Phantom. The poor guy didn't love anyone but her, and yes he did inspire her with his music. She also seems to have some kind of "deep attraction" for him.
But think about it. By teaching her to become a great opera star, he kinda wanted her to feel obligated to love him. It's like saying "You HAVE to love me for giving you a chance at the stage."
Yes yes, Raoul is as bland as vanilla pudding and rich and all those things, but what would you (or anyone) do if a loved one is being stalked/tricked by some mysterious guy? Of course you would want to protect them.
Same thing with the book, except replace Gerry Butler with a creepy, old corpse guy.
The thing is, if Christine did go with the Phantom, it wouldn't be such a good story. The moral is that he lost Christine because he was ugly BOTH inside and out (well, Gerry's Phantom was not even ugly, just a boil and some side baldage XD ). She left mostly because he frightened her with murder, threats, and lies. Not just because of his face. The Phantom may be talented (and handsome depending on which version), but not very right in the head.
