He was simply called Ancestor, since the first of the People came into contact with Ancestor he was already very old and his skin and coat were grey and snowy white. Ancestor had a beard and hair all over his body so long that snowy birds lived and nested in it. He was so hairy it was impossible to tell what tribe he was truly from. To wear the mark of Ancestor signifies the ways of the patient and quiet scholar and a seeker of wisdom.
The elders of all tribes fought over which tribe he belonged to one spring and all of the four legged tribes met on the plains for war. When the first taur was killed, Ancestor raged and in fear the war stopped as quickly as it started. Ancestor took the body of the slain taur and found that it was a young female. With a single breath, he brought her to life once more and her skin and hair became all white as snow.
One of her feet was as a Centaur's hoof, one of her feet was as a Cervitaur's cloven foot, one of her feet was as the Foxtaur, and the other as the Wolftaur, and she bore the tail of the Cattaur.
He said nothing, but with the sweep of his hand all the other of the warring People became blind. Then Ancestor spoke unto the People "If you wish your sight returned, you must all spend the rest of the summer in the same village. If you cannot settle your differences then you will forever be blind, as will your future children."
