It was night, of course. Leinth didn't care to go out in the daytime; it was too bright and active for her tastes. The night was still, and dark, and cold. It reminded her of the time she had spent shut away, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Those times were remembered with reverence, and even fondness. They had been quiet, if nothing else.

Often out of place among the living, Leinth preferred the still night. It wasn't without its share of interruptions- the bandaged idiot that she had to share space with, for instance- but in general the sort that came out after the sun had set were more to her liking. At the very least, she tolerated them, provided they didn't ask stupid questions. Like what she was doing by the river at night, dangling her feet in, and watching the ripples they created.

All was quiet, still, pristine in the strange-light of the moon. It was as though some celestial being had taken the opportunity to take a snapshot of the nightscape, freezing time while the world slumbered on.

Sadly, such stillness was impossible to even hope to imitate..and it was not for a lack on effort on the part of the night-reflecting numa. For a time, he had sat in the whispering grass, attempting to still himself, to become part of the natural serenity that was the night. But his heart had refused to stop its noisy beating, his breath denying him the ability to cease all motion. And thus, he had sought out another means of disappearing into the scenery entirely. He had found a method of moving without movement- a river, to be exact, threading sleepily between its two shores. Although he had winced at the splashes he had been unable to prevent, now that he was afloat and immobile, he could remain a piece of the river..no more a disturbance to the calm than any bough caught in the currant.

Leinth watched the river as it flowed, this section gently enough for even a slight movement to cause ripples in the water. They spread out from her feet, first close together, then spreading further apart, and further away from her, impacting other parts of the stream. It would have been a good point to insert some sort of philosophical reference, but she wasn't in that sort of mood.

Then there was a loud splash, and the scene that she had been watching progress slowly shattered in a crash of noise and motion. Wincing, Leinth looked around for the disturbance. Her legs kicked more quickly, betraying her agitation, but otherwise she appeared calm. Cross, but calm.

When she isolated the noisemaker, her red eyes narrowed. "If I were you," she said, her voice nearly a growl, "I'd stop."

His ears having been submerged beneath the surface, the almost-growl directed at him became distorted and muffled, and he did nothing more than open his eyes at first, scanning about him..until their gaze came to rest upon the glowing redness of another numa's eyes. For a long moment, two, Moiety merely blinked at her, and then a frown flickered across his face. Rolling onto his belly (carefully, carefully, don't disturb the currant), he glared at the one who had interrupted the peace..how dare she, when he had tried so hard to keep the quiet? Foolish, noisy female...he chose not to respond audibly at once, instead silently baring his teeth in her general direction as he looked her over. Then, he sighed almost inaudibly, and allowed himself one spoken question-word: "Why?"

Why? Such a silly, simple question, from someone Leinth could only assume was equally so. She rolled her eyes and carefully pulled her feet out of the cool waters of the stream. She folded them underneath her, not looking at the other. After all, if he was so uncultured as to splash about unapologetically, he didn't deserve her attention.

Still, she was classy, and just because someone else was coarse didn't mean she had to be. Sighing softly, Leinth turned her head to the river again. Partly to explain- something she rarely did- and partly to lay down the law. She was here first, and so felt justified in setting a few guidelines.

But when she thought about it, the stranger hadn't splashed in some time. Leinth frowned, somewhat confused. Then, deciding not to worry about it, she simply shrugged. Hopefully that would be enough for him.

Frowning at the aloofness of this bandaged and sickly-green numa, Moiety carefully and silently emerged from the river, simply allowing the droplets cling to his fur instead of shaking himself. She was being rude, and with absolutely no apparent cause. She was being quiet, at least, and seemed to understand (from what he'd seen) that fewer words often said more than lengthy babblings did..but few words was not the same as an insolent shrug and a refusal to respond. "It is well that you are not me, then." he murmured, shrugging in kind. After all...her rudeness would not be an excuse for him to be rude as well.

Leinth's ears pricked; she had excellent hearing, after hearing nothing for so long. "So, you have a tongue after all, do you?" she asked quietly. Her legs kicked faster, but she'd lifted them so that all they disturbed was the night air. "You may need to train it. In these circumstances, I'm quite glad that I'm not you."

Rude, yes. But Leinth viewed any sort of interference as rudeness towards her, and unlike the purple stranger, she had no qualms about being rude back.
