Drugs Most Harmful Effects

Alcohol

* Liver damage, birth defects, kills brain cells, intoxication, can induce violent behavior
* Addiction: As addicting as cocaine!
* Overdose: Possible.
* Deaths/year (U.S.): 100,000 (Not counting drunk driving or crimes caused while intoxicated.)

Tobacco

* Lung, throat, and mouth cancer, emphysema, heart damage, premature aging of skin, underdeveloped newborn babies.
* Addiction: As addicting as heroin or cocaine!
* Overdose: Possible, but extremely unlikely.
* Deaths/year (U.S.): 400,000

Marijuana

* Slight chance of bronchitis in some users.
* Possible minor sperm count reduction, but unproven.
* Lung cancer remotely possible with extremely heavy use, but unproven.
* Short-term memory loss only while intoxicated--Not permanent!
* Addiction: less addicting than coffee, soda, meat, or sugar!
* Overdose: Impossible!
* Deaths/year (U.S.): 0 (Zero!)

Exactly, I don't see why alochol and tobacco are legal and marijuana isn't.

All 3 are downers....only one is illegal?? Hmmmm.........
Alcohol...well, I haveonly had one drink in 2 years..had to have one of my own Pina` Colada's!....but I'm not into the alcohol like I once was...just not into the whole bar scene anymore, it got old after seeing the same people do the same things year after year, ya know?
I do still smoke, but know I shouldn't with having cancer and all, but the smoking didn't play a role in the cancer I have now (as per my personal Onc.).
Weed, been there, done that and not so thrilling to me personally...I can do without it but have nothing agaiinst anyone who does (over 1/4 of my friends smoke anyway).

As for the stats....seems to me that alcohol would be the highest "danger zone" and then cigarettes/cigars and then weed. And yet...it is still the only one illegal. lol

Who could even afford enough marijuana to smoke often enough to get bronchitis? Seriously.

Still, the one issue with marijuana is somewhat of a combination of two issues, one with alchohal and one with cigarettes.

Marijuana intoxicates you to a variable extent. While intoxicated it is suggested that you don't drive, operate heavy machinery, or try to snort funny things you found in your pockets. The same goes for intoxication caused by alchohal.

But unlike alchohal and like cigarettes marijuana can produce effects on any who inhale the smoke, which does not mandate actually smoking it directly. If I were to light up a bowl in a public place anyone who hung around long enough might get a buzz (or more than a buzz if they are a total easy-bake). The problem with that is I am getting a non-consenting third party intoxicated thus hindering their capability to make good decisions and operate for a brief period of time. The negative effects of second-hand cigarette smoke take years to manifest. The intoxicating effect of second hand marijuana smoke takes much less.

So if marijuana were to be legalized it would likely be prohibited for use in public places without explicit permission by the authority of the governing body. Other than that it's sale and production should be treated like alchohal or tobacco which we all know are more harmful substances overall.

Sorry, but unless you are hotboxing or don't know how to inhale, second hand cannabis smoke wouldn't/shouldn't get anyone a buzz. Almost 95% of THC in the smoke is absorbed within a second of inhaling. That means only a measly 5% is left which would dissipate in the air.

hehehe. Oh I should add that I once told my mom (used to be a stoner in her days) that weed don't mess up your teeth! <3 But as long as you don't get resin in them, you are completely fine, but I don't see how you could get resin in your teeth...*thinks for a moment* OH yeah, smoking it in a joint... hmmm... but then again, if you smoke out of a bong, then all you get is the smoke.. rolleyes But you know, if you did get resin in your teeth, (by some particular way I have no clue of what) You can always brush them and they be sparklin! **
Tobacco- >>Don't even want to show tobacco user teeth. EEEEEEWWW *barfs in the nearest bathroom* My dad does chew tobacco and it's disgusting beyond the grossest thing in the world. That's why I only smoke weed and not tobacco.
For 1: It kills
For 2: Marijuana never killed anyone. Only the government hurt the plants poor feelings. (*aww I feeling sensitive to the pretty plant* 4laugh )
Alcohol->> I really don't know about that one..
