Occupation
She did work in a bar...

Purpose/Personal Objectives

Physical Description
Tau is about 5'6", a nice olive complextion. Her ear right ear is pierced all the way around the lobe, 15 earrings in all and a simple, jade stud in her right nostril. Left hand: ten rings, five below the knuckles, five above. (elaborations later?) She keeps her fingernails short and polish-free

Her eyes are a very dark and hard black-green, almond shaped - a definite exotic flare to them. She usually lines her eyes with purple glittern and black shadow. That's all the make-up she wears. Her cheekbones aren't high, but they aren't set low on her face either. They're defined - like her brow bone. A nice soft line but nonetheless a line. Her nose has been broken three times - almost directly between her eyes, at the bridge, and right above the nostrils. That bottom piece set a bit crooked when it healed.

Her hair has seen many dyings - and currently it is a very odd shade of maroon with mahogany lowlights and orange highlights. It's cropped short around her face - almost boyish. Somedays she spikes it, others she slicks it back. It really all depends on her mood.

Magical Description
Well...she doesn't consider it too "magical", but she does suffer from Kleptomania. She's a damn good thief, too...but it doesn't make sense. Why would that land her in such a high-security, top-notch insane asylum?

Wrong spot. I'm going to move this to the right location in a sec. It's the Character Development subforum. Don't worry, though.

A Little Bit of History

Tau was the best and most sought after bartender in the region. Not a dancer, or performer, but a bartender – mixing drinks and talking the dead drunks into taking a cab – the whole bit.

She loved her job. Alcohol was her favorite smell, so she didn’t really mind that clothes and very skin seemed to reek of it. When she interviewed for jobs, the managers often asked about her safety regarding the “big tough men.” Calmly, she would explain that while small, she could take care of herself. No one ever truly believed her until her first week on the job.

The first drunk to make a pass at her got lemon and vodka in his eyes. The second persistent fool found splintered glass in the palm of his hand. Oops… It never too long: word spread that Tau was not to be messed with (and that she mixed like some possessed but talented apothecary.)

Tau Cobalt’s drinks could cure any disease – or so went the urban myth.

However, despite the liquid Eden she created, problems always surrounded Tau. Customers began to report thefts, along with the staff. When the managers became suspicious, she always slipped out, blaming some family member and never leaving a trace.

She was a kleptomaniac (and not one of those uncontrollable fools who stuff everything she saw down her shirt or into a bag.) Tau was good. Great even, a damn good pickpocket. She stole for the rush, for the fun. One day, she hoped to organize a job. Man, that would have been great. Unfortunately it never happened.

She had gone to Macy’s that day to meet with another thief – the master. After all, you couldn’t pull a job without working on a few first. Macy’s… that had been the rendezvous point. But those oafs (guards) had arrested her for lifting some eye shadow. That’s when she knew there’d been a mistake. She wasn’t careless or sloppy. No one had seen her take the makeup.

Someone had set her up.

That interrogation in Macy’s changed everything. After that, she found herself in that white, padded room strapped down with wire. When she got out of here… she’d make that b*****d pay.

(Please bear with the experiment with style...)
Personality Synopsis – more like, philosophy on life/people skills

If there were three words to describe Tau, they would probably be: paranoid, cynical, and hard. Let me explain…

By paranoid, I mean something more like undying suspicion of everyone and everything around her. Maybe it comes from the fact that she steals from those who surround her and she wouldn’t be surprised if they stole from her… maybe it’s because a thief always needs to be on her toes. She couldn’t really pinpoint its cause – suspicion was as natural to her as breathing. If you assumed that everyone was going to rob you, then you were never surprised… and it made the sweetness of a successful theft so much more rewarding to cackle over.

By cynical, I mean something more like… well, cynical is what I mean. She likes people best when they’ve got a drink or two in them, when she can see into them but they can’t see into her. She figures, “If everyone in the world is like me, I don’t want to meet/trust/love/depend on any of them.” It leaves her a bit lonely… but when she has a job she’s with people from about 5 PM to 6/7 AM. That’s enough human interaction to keep her soul intact.

By hard, I don’t necessarily mean demeanor. I mean the way she thinks, speaks and acts. (Ok… I mean demeanor.) All of Tau’s thoughts are short, concrete, and mostly logical. She’s not one for magic carpets and talking mirrors. If she talks, she prefers to talk about reality. About life. About why it sucks and what people are doing wrong. She had yet to meet someone who could get her to talk about emotions. As for emotions, she doesn’t hide them like some hard asses. She cries when she needs to, yells when she needs to, swears, mopes, etc… But, she won’t ever talk about what she’s feeling. To her, emotions barely count as reality.

If she was warm and fluffy, maybe people wouldn’t label her as they do. However, on the up side, most people she comes into contact with consider her to be grounded and a decent human being. She’s not dominating (sometime intimidating) or unapproachable. She’s just… Tau. After all, she does have to deal with the creeps that come into bars at 3:38 in the morning. If she were soft at all, she’d have been raped more time than you would care to count by now.
