The sun has abruptly faded to a harsh, dull, permanent sunset-type light. the moon has crashed into the atlantic ocean, pulled down by some unseen force.
this is a post apocolyptic world, 99.7% of the population dead by flood and a rash of some unknown disease. a group of survivors band together to find that they have some sort of supernatural powers that will help them survive. though the disease has reached this group, for some reason, they have not died. they have become a race of vampire hybrids. they walk the earth, finding other survivors like them, trying to survive.
but there is a darker force behind this apocolypse, and soon, full-fledged war will break out....

Luke McHale was watching television when it happened. the power suddenly flickered out. It was high noon, and yet the sky was rapidly darkening. However, Luke noted, it wasn't the same kind of darkening that happened as clouds covered the sun. It was different. The world outside Luke's windows suddenly turned an orange-ish color, as if the sun were setting. As Luke opened his front door in the small, crackerbox house, there was a huge splashing sound that shook the Earth. Luke grabbed either side of the threshold to keep himself from falling. He looked up at the sun to see what was causing the strange change in light.
The sun was there, alright. But it wasn't as bright as it should have been for two o'clock in the afternoon.
Already, his home was growing warmer from the lack of air conditioning, which had stopped flowing when the power went down. Luke went back inside and picked up his cell phone from a small table by the door.
There was no signal.
"What the hell is going on?" he muttered to himself. He closed the front door and went into the kitchen, opening a drawer that contained flash lights, batteries, a portable radio, and a portable television. Luke tried the radio first.
Nothing.
He replaced the batteries.
Still, nothing.
Next, he tried the small TV.
It didn't work.
Every single electronic device in his house didn't work, it seemed.
"What the hell?" he muttered again, brow furrowing. He put everything back in the drawer and closed it. Suddenly feeling dizzy, he clutched the cabinet in which the TV and radio were stowed. However, this didn't stop him from falling down and passing out.

Natasha was one of the many people who stared at the darkening sky on the streets with a confused expression, but she was one of the few who were moving. As she remained transfixed on the sky she approached the window where several of her fellow orphans, mostly the small ones had their heads poked out to see what was going on.
"What do you think it is?" One of the little one's pipped up.
Natasha couldn't resist.
"It's the end of the world! Zombies are now going to ravaged the earth and devour the flesh of little boys and girls for their sadistic cults," She replied, in a sadistic manor.
Wether they they understood half the stuff she had told them or not they all screamed and ran off to hide under their beds while she laughed hestarically. She was given the look by some of the older orphans and all she could do was give them and innocent "What?"
She walked in the builiding she was forced to call home and hopped in her bed, still chuckiling over the scare she had given to her fellow orphans. As she layed there, a sound appeared from no where that shook the ground underneath her and rocked her out of the bed, causing her to head first into concert flooring and black out.

When Luke awoke, the light in his house was the same orange sunset color. He automatically glanced at his watch to check the time. It was dead. Slowly, he pushed himself up into a sitting position, clutching his aching head. As he grabbed the cabinet to pull himself up all the way, he felt a dull pain in his eye teeth as well as his head. Slowly, he ran his tongue over his teeth to feel two sharp points one either canine. Baffled, he stood in the kitchen and felt the two teeth with his fingers and nearly drew blood. He inhaled sharply at the sudden pain. Only then did he feel the wet sensation all along the back side of his body and on his feet. He looked down to see his house was flooded. Perplexed as to why this was, he walked to the front door again and looked out.
It was as if there had been a massive storm. Everything was flooded. The street, other homes, everything was under at least a foot of water. Before he even knew what he was doing, Luke was running down the sidewalk in the direction of the beach. No one else stood on the streets. It was as if the world was abandoned.
As he came to the next block, he saw the first body.
It was simply floating in the water. Blood flowed from its eyes, ears, mouth and nose. The skin looked shriveled, as if the person had been dead for a thousand years. Luke stood in paralyzed horror as the body drifted down the water logged street. Regaining his wits, Luke continued to the opposite sidewalk with a quick gait. Soon, he was jogging, for he could see the beach, and he did not like what he saw.
The Atlantic Ocean didnt' have a shore anymore.
The water flowed freely throughout Haven, New York, and possibly the rest of the world.

After somthing odd hours, Natasha had awoke and found her face just below water. Shocked she pulled out. Her head throbbed in pain, not suprising, she did fall on some pretty hard cement. She placed her hand over where the pain was worse and felt some liquid substance. Blood? She asked herself as she pulled her hand away from her head. It was indeed blood. She watched it drip from her hand and fall into shallow water. She looked around and couldn't find the other orphans. She stood up and ran outside to see if they were out there, but there was no one. Not a single living soul in sight. She bit down on her tounge out of sher habit when she was nervouse but she apperently piereced her own tounge. She took her fingers and began to feel her canine teeth and found that they were sharper than usual. Almost like a vampire.
"Hello?" She called out. The only response was her echo.

Luke stood on what felt like sand, although he could barely tell; the water was clouded with a substance that almost appeared luminescent. From somewhere behind him, he heard a loud cry that sounded like that of a girl's. He turned around and began to run in the direction of the cry, anxious to meet someone else who had survived this bizarre ordeal.

She began to wander around aimlessly, clutching her head in hopes to stop the bleeding. What she said was true. It really must have been the apocolypse, but where were the zombies? What kind of the end of the world ordeal was it without zombies? "Oh, zombies! Where are you?!" She called out again.

Luke heard these words clearly; he wasn't far. However, they sounded like the ramblings of a girl who had clearly lost her mind.
"Hello?" he called out hesitantly, not wanting to approach such a person.

She turned around quickly. She could've sworn that she heard someone. That shouldn't be right, zombies shouldn't talk, nobody should've been alive when the apocolypse came. But then again, she shouldn't been alive either, unless she too was a zombie. She just ended up confusing herself and gave up on her thoughts.
"Hey!" She screamed, hoping it would attract whoever it was that was calling her.

Deciding that even if this girl WAS a psycho, it would be better having SOME sort of companion, Luke began to run again in the direction of the yelp to find a girl of about fifteen standing on the flooded sidewalk.
"Who are you?" Luke asked. He thought the girl looked somewhat familiar, as if he had seen her before.

"Natasha," She said with her Russian accent. Looking at the man that stood in front of her. He sorta reminded her of her eldest brother.

"The entire Atlantic Ocean has flooded over into this town, maybe even all of New York, maybe even the entire U.S. What's going on? What caused all this to happen." Luke realized this young teenage girl couldn't answer his questions, yet he continued to ask them.
