It was a typical day at the inn. Celebor and Serenity were at school, Skye was off with Lore at the library, and at the moment Elnara was checking on the twins, who were up to some sort of mischief. They always were.

Truth be told, Idhril was curious to know more about the inn. After all, she had been born in another world, in her Nako’s world. She had spent her first week of life there. It had only been yesterday that they had returned to the inn.

The tiny Second mused about the differences as she swept between rooms, exploring. At her mother’s relatives’ house, she’d shared a room, a double bed, with her mother and all three of her sisters. Here, she had a room of her own. There, outside was where there was space. Here, it was indoors.

She found her mother’s room and wandered inside. The door was open, and open doors were permission to enter. Once inside, she looked around. Lots of interesting things in here. There was a shelf above a writing desk, and Idhril pushed the chair out just far enough for her to climb up on it, then climb up onto the desk and look at the things on the shelf. There were lots of pretty things on it: mysterious boxes, many of them locked … a dried rose with a note attached, some pretty fans, and a few bracelets.

Idhril picked up the bracelets and tried to put them on. One of them was big on her, the one with engraved runes on it. The other was a chain link bracelet with charms on it. It was so big that it went around her wrist not twice but three times. Still, she liked it. She kept it on and climbed down from the desk, continuing her exploration.

There were other shelves along the walls, and several long pointy things hanging on hooks and pegs on the walls, but she couldn’t reach any of them, and there was nothing near them to climb on, so she ignored them. There were several vases of flowers that were nearly as tall as she was, and she paused at each and every one of them to smell them, smiling. They were so pretty, and smelled so good!

On the table beside her mother’s bed, she could see something else, and she climbed up onto the bed to get a better look at it. It was a curved piece of wood that had several strings on it, several of which were beaded partway down. She picked it up and plucked one of the strings, and smiled brightly when she heard it make a soft sound. She plucked a few more: each one made a different sound, and when she ran her fingers along all of them, it sounded very pretty indeed.

She wondered if her mother would let her play with it, and headed off to find her.

It was a quiet day at the café. Storm and Starr were playing beside the now-flowing fountain, still attracted to it even now that there was nothing left for them to do to it. Skye was practicing her dancing in the dojo, Serenity was sitting at the counter, painting with her watercolors, and Elnara was busy cleaning the café, doing the jobs that couldn’t normally be done while there were customers there – the walls, table legs, and so on. Celebor was kind of wandering around, trying to help Elnara, trying to watch Serenity – who didn’t like to be watched – watching the twins and trying to figure out what they were doing … basically trying to keep busy, but being bored.

Idhril observed all of this from where she was sitting on one of the couches by the empty fireplace. Normally she could be found tailing someone, asking as many questions as she could spew out of her curious mouth: but today everyone was busy, and so she contented herself with observation.

She had observed many things besides what everyone was doing. She had noticed that though Celebor, Serenity and Skye were all the same stage, Skye was quite a bit shorter than the others. And that though she, Storm and Starr were all the same stage, and they two weeks older than she, she was much taller than either of them. From there, she observed that the three of them – Skye, Storm and Starr – were all angels, as she had learned to call the winged beings. Which left her with the conclusion that angels in general were smaller than the other Second races.

Except her uncles, Yue and Yukito. But then, there were exceptions in every race.

Or, she mused, her golden eyes following her brother around the room, perhaps it was that she, Celebor and their mother were all the same race – elves. She had observed that elves were in general taller than most other races here. Papa especially. But then, Papa was about the same height as Ulrich, and they were only a little bit taller than Ulani, who was only a little bit taller than Mama … yes, she concluded, the elves were a tall race, and that was why her angelic siblings seemed so short. There was that one short elf that visited the café on occasion, but she must be the odd one in the equation. Yes, that was it.

She blinked slowly at Celebor as he started in her direction. As he drew nearer, he looked as though he were going to sit next to her, so she moved over a bit to make more room for him.

“Hi Idhril!” he grinned at her cheerfully, hopping up onto the couch and sitting down with a bounce that made Idhril bounce a bit as well. “What you doing?”

Idhril smoothed out the skirt of her long dress. “Looking,” she replied seriously, gazing at him so intently that her golden eyes almost seemed to glow. Uncrossing her legs, she folded them instead, unconsciously sitting in a more ladylike position. Then she added, “And thinking.”

“’Bout what?” Celebor asked curiously, adjusting one of his belts.

Idhril turned her eyes back to her siblings and her mother. “How we’re all so different,” she answered softly. “You and me are like Mama and Papa, but no one else is at all … is it because none of us are natural babies?”

“Yup,” Celebor grinned. “But that’s okay, right? It’s fun having a brother and sisters who are different, it means we can do lots of different things! ’Sides, Mommy won’t have a nat’ral baby cos she’s not married, and Lore says she can’t have one if she’s not married.”

“Oh,” Idhril nodded slowly. “But what does it mean, to be married?”

Celebor blinked, surprised by the question. He racked his brains for an answer for several long minutes, tapping at his forehead, scratching the back of his head, twisting one finger around his braid … and finally he had to shrug at Idhril. “I don’t know,” he was forced to admit. “Maybe you should ask Lore.”

Idhril moved her gaze back to their mother and watched her thoughtfully for a long moment. “I think I will,” she nodded. “Next time he comes to see us.”

I’ve been neglecting Idhril’s journal horribly, and I feel awful about it. But the truth is … there really isn’t a whole lot to write for her. I mean … she doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary, nothing really ever happens to her, and she’s more the type of child to sit and watch what’s going on rather than go out and have her own adventures. So … really … it’s hard for me to write about anything for her.

She’s a smart child, I believe perhaps even more so than the rest of my children. I don’t mean the way she was born speaking two languages, or anything like that … I mean … she’s just plain more observant than any of the others, quieter, more thoughtful … and when she speaks, it’s not something … childish. I suppose the word, then, that I’m looking for is … mature. Even from her first day, she was more mature than any of the others. Her mental state, right from the very beginning was (and still is) more mature, more grown up, than even Serenity’s is at the moment – and she’s grown up quite a bit since her growth.

Beyond that … I’m not sure what to say.

Like Storm and Starr, she calls me Mama, and Lore Papa. Actually, those were her first words, and I think Lore might have been just as touched as I was. She likes shinies … my little magpie. Jewelry, mirrors, anything that shines. Ah, and for mirrors, it’s not for her reflection- she prefers reflecting the light of the sun than to look at herself. But she also likes music, I’ve promised to teach her how to play the harp. She found mine in my room, somehow – I’m starting to wonder if I should put a lock on the door or something, or at least get a chest to keep everything in and put a lock on the chest – and asked me to teach her how to play.

With everything that’s going on, I haven’t had the time … but soon … I promise I will …

I'm a big sister now!

Idhril was several months old by now, but she still slept with Elnara every night. Not because she was scared of the dark, not because she didn’t like being alone, but because right from her first day walking the earth, that was where she had slept and that arrangement was just fine for the both of them.

And she slept a lot, too: morning naps, afternoon naps, early to bed in the evening, and often enough, a late riser. This particular morning, when she woke up, she was alone in the bed. This wasn’t unusual, since Elnara was usually an early riser, but what was unusual was the fact that, despite being the only one in be, she wasn’t the only one in the room. In fact, it wasn’t even just her and her mother. There was another little person in there, a little angel boy whom Idhril had never seen before.

“Mama?” she spoke up, rubbing the sleep from her golden eyes and sitting up in the bed. “Who’s that?”

Elnara had been dressing the little boy, and she finished tying the strings of his shirt and picked him before heading back to join Idhril on the bed.

“Idhril,” she smiled happily, “this is your new little brother, Silvrendir.”

The little red-haired boy put his head against his mother’s chest and smiled shyly at Idhril. He had only been called by that name for less than an hour, but he recognized it as his own and he loved hearing it.

“Hello, Silver dear!” Idhril grinned, climbing to her feet. She stood unsteadily on the bed and reached up to him. “Let me see you!”

Elnara put Silvrendir on the bed next to his sister and held his hands so that he wouldn’t fall. He wobbled uncertainly, but the grin never left his freckled face.

“You’re bigger than I am!” Idhril exclaimed, putting her hand atop her head, then comparing her height to his. She came up to his hairline. Then she turned him around to examine his wings. “Shiny!” she giggled, petting his feathers. “And all like silver, too. Mama, is that why his name is Silver dear?”

Elnara laughed. “Silvrendir,” she corrected her daughter bemusedly. “But if you want you can call him Silver. No, Silvrendir actually means white, because his wings are white, but Silver is a good name for him too, because of the dusty stuff. What do you think, Silvrendir?” she asked, turning to him and poking him lightly in the side. “Silver, too?”

He grinned up at her and nodded. “Silver,” he said, pointing to himself, and added, “Silvrendir.” Then he pointed at his sister and said, “Idhril.” And last but not least, he turned and pointed up into Elnara’s face and said, “Mama!”

“Yay!” Idhril exclaimed, clapping her hands excitedly. “He knows our names already!” She liked her new brother. He was funny. She looked up to Elnara. “Can we keep him?” she asked hopefully.

Elnara laughed. “Of course, silly,” she replied, ruffling Idhril’s hair affectionately. “Of course.”

The newly dubbed Silver giggled along and put his hand on Idhril’s hair as well.

A Pet for Idhril

It was evitable that something like this was to happen after his mother cornered him into admitting marriage. She had wanted to be a grandmother and his father wanted to be a grandfather even more. It was only natural in some time honoured tradition (and the fact that Kara close to his father) that a gifting to acknowledge her would take place. However, he drew the line at the gifts being pets. Specifically the twin winter dragons (pun intended) given to Kara.

Donovan twitched and thought that his old man must have thought it was a grand funny he made by giving Kara two (he couldn't just stop at one it had to be two) dragons. Not just any dragons, they were furry (they had manes) and they were feathery (like a bird), and they were blue (Kara's favourite colour) and had snowflakes. In short, a blue and white angel dragon that looked like it came out of the snow. Kara adored them of course, hugging both within her arms like large over plushed toys. They cooed and chirped and Donovan told her blankly she could not look after both dragons even if his father assured him that they would not get any bigger than 50 cm.

It was his father, the last time he said something wouldn't happen the kitchen back home blew up. Knowing his luck the man brought baby dragons and they were going to grow.

So Donovan kindly suggested to Kara that maybe it would be good for one of the grandchildren to have one of the girl dragons. She thought it was an excellent idea, so he wrapped one of the two up in a towel to hide it and stalked down the hall to find one of Elnara's broad to sic' it on.

Idhril had just woken from her second morning nap (it was amazing how much that child could sleep), and she was sitting in Elnara's bed and rubbing her eyes to get rid of the last traces of sleep. She yawned once, twice, three times, then rubbed her eyes again and wriggled out of the bed. As expected, her mother was nowhere in sight, but Idhril didn't mind. She was used to waking up with no one in bed with her.

Besides that, from what she had been told, she wouldn't be able to share her mother's bed with her for very much longer. She slid to the floor and scratched her head sleepily, then rubbed her eyes once more. She stumbled a bit as she headed over to her vase (which was lying in one corner so that she could go in and out of it at her will) to get a cookie she had stored in there the night before.

Donovan paused at Elnara's door, knocking on it with one hand while trying to keep a firm grip on the squirming towel covered creature. He didn't want Elnara to know quite yet what he had if she was in.

"Elnara? Have you see your kids?" he poked his head in, she wasn't there, go figure. Probably busy like the majority in the inn.

Hearing Donovan's voice, Idhril crawled out of her vase, her cookie in her mouth, to see what he wanted. Once she was out, she stood up and brushed her long hair behind her shoulders, then took the cookie out of her mouth and smiled up at Donovan, her eyes still slightly glossy from sleep.

"Hi, Grandpa!" she said brightly, sounding much more awake than she looked. "Are you looking for Mama?"

She stuck her cookie back in her mouth and took a bite of it, eying the squirmy towel in his arms.

Donovan looked down to see that there was at least one child here, and he smiled. In the kind of gentile way when he didn't want to scare prey, though his eyeglasses were glinting.

"Actually," he replied back, "I was looking for you and your siblings."

Idhril blinked and swallowed her mouthful. "Why?" she asked curiously. "I don't know where anybody else is, I just woke up."

She never knew where anyone else was. For all she knew, they could be at school - depending on what day of the week it was.

He held the squirming creature with both arms as he crouched down so he could talk to Idhril better.

"Well," he replied as if quite sad, "You see your grandmother and I..." more Kara than he, "Were given these twin pets as a gift, but your grandmother can only look after one of them. So, we were hoping that someone could look after the other one, otherwise we're going to have to separate them."

"Uh oh!" Idhril gasped, dropping her cookie and covering her mouth with her hands. Her golden eyes grew wide with despair. "You can't separate them!" she wailed. "That's just not fair! That would be like taking Storm away from Starr, or Starr away from Storm, or Mama away from Papa, or Papa away from Mama!"

She bit her lip anxiously, looking at the floor for a moment, then looked up at Donovan and burst out, "I can take care of it! Really I can! If I do, does that mean it doesn't have to be taken away from the other one? I can do it! Can I Grandpa? Please? I don't want them to be separated!"

"Really?" Donovan sounded surprised (in which he wasn't), "You are going to have to take care of her. Play with her, train her, brush her... and yes feed and water her."

Gah... he made the thing sound like a plant on the last part. Though he had to make it sound like he was at least resisting a bit.

"I can do it!" Idhril insisted, her eyes wide. "I know I can do it! Grandma can help me, right? Because she has one, too! And you can help me too, Grandpa, because you know all about it! And Mama can help me too! Right? I can do it, Grandpa! Let me take care of her!"

She drew herself up to her full height (which was, at 1'2", rather unimpressive except to other surprise stage Seconds), trying to make herself look big and important.

"That's right, we'll help you when you need it," Donovan nodded.

It was the least he could do seeing as he was going to give this little ragamuffin to Idhril. Geez, he had thought to himself, the creature would be like having a very big dog to someone like Idhril.

"Well then," he murmured as he set the dragonlet down nearly dropping it.

It squealed as the little (not so little creature) moved along the floor.

Idhril's squeal matched the creature's, and her eyes grew even wider - this time with awe - as she looked at the creature that was now hers. It was bigger than she was, and for a few moments she was actually frightened of it. She looked up at Donovan timidly and asked, "What is it?"

"Some sort of dragon," Donovan replied, "I didn't bother asking at the time, what sort of dragon. She eats fruit and a bit of meat," he supposed one could feed her chicken or something.

Sounded strange for someone that looked like it would have lived in the Arctic, but he was sure the coat colour was due to breeding rather than natural selection. It was far too gentle to be wild.

The dragonlet chirped as if to gain some attention as she slithered along the ground.

Idhril gathered up her courage and approached the dragonlet cautiously, holding out one hand to it as she had seen others do with animals.

"Come here, little dragon," she cooed softly. "I'm not gonna hurt you ..."

She gulped and looked up at Donovan. "She's not gonna hurt me, is she?"

"Nah ... she probably wants attention," he explained.

Seeing as Kara was smothering them in attention only moments earlier. He mused on this, so it should be a good pet, neither way. At least he had that in his defense.

The blue creature slithered towards Idhril nuzzling the girl's hand with its muzzle. It squawked as if wondering what she was waiting for.

Idhril giggled a bit and patted the dragonlet on the head, then stepped closer and ran her fingers through the fluff on the back of its head.

"She's soft," she murmured happily; then she looked up at Donovan again. "What's her name?" she asked curiously. "She's pretty like Snowflake."

"She doesn't have one yet," Donovan replied.

Since naming one would mean Kara was more likely to keep it in the future. So this one didn't have a name.

"Oh," Idhril murmured softly, kneeling and hugging the dragonlet's head close to her body. She stroked the neck and murmured, "I think she should have a name. I think Snowflake is a good name but it's already our puppy's name."

She looked up at Donovan, her eyes now warm and excited. "What do you think I should call her, Grandpa?"

Donovan sighed a bit, he hadn't really thought about giving the damn thing a name. However it was going to need a name, otherwise it would not be fair to... it.... He thought about it for a while.

"Xue," he replied off handedly.

"Xue?" Idhril repeated brightly, stroking the dragonlet's neck. "That's a pretty name. What does it mean?"

She knew that sometimes when people were given names, the names had meaning, and she thought it would be neat if her new pet could have a name that meant something as well.

"Snow," Donovan explained.

It was the closest to the same meaning he could think of, and it was in his own language rather than the secondary that Kara often used. Besides there were enough people with the name Yuki as it was.

The newly named dragon cooed under Idhril's touch happily as it tried to slither on it's back if that was possible. It's wings going every which way since the creature lacked legs.

Idhril giggled. "That's pretty. Like Snowflake, except just Snow, and in a different language!" She giggled again and ran her fingers along the dragonlet's serpentine underbelly, since it looked as if that was what it wanted.

"Glad you like it," Donovan smirked.

Well it looked like dragon and child were getting to know each other quite well, and he figured the two couldn't get into too much trouble before Elnara got back.

"Anyhow, since you two seem to be hitting it off quite well, I should go back and tell your grandmother the good news."

"Don't forget to tell her that they don't have to be separated!" Idhril reminded him eagerly. "Or that I'm gonna take good care of her! And tell her that she has a pretty name too! And don't forget to tell me when she has to eat, because I don't know when she has to eat yet!"

As she shouted out the requests to her grandfather, she snuggled down with Xue and continued to scratch the dragonlet's belly.

Donovan chuckled as he stepped out of the room, "I will."

With that looking like the cat who got into the cream, he walked away to tell Kara the 'good news'. Somehow, it reminded him of when Celebor was much smaller, and that just made him chuckle more.

Another? How did that happen?

It was mid-afternoon when Elnara made it home from school, a little tired from a particularly busy day. She checked on Storm and Starr (who for once weren’t doing anything they weren’t supposed to) and Silvrendir (who was colouring in a book Elnara had gotten for him) before heading up to her room to check on Idhril and see about getting a bit of rest before Celebor and Serenity also came home from school. Skye of course was at the library with Lore, though Elnara sometimes wondered how much time she spent with Lore and how much she spent dancing with Lore’s assistants. Not that it was a bad thing, of course.

She opened her door slowly, quietly, just in case Idhril was asleep again – as she so often was. Sure enough, her youngest daughter was fast asleep in Elnara’s bed, curled up with a toy that Elnara hadn’t seen before. It was a cute one, though, and Elnara smiled and wondered who might have given it to her.

She set her bag down by her desk and started pulling things out of it so that she could get to work, pausing momentarily to fiddle with the ring on her finger. She glanced at Idhril once more and blinked.

Had the toy just moved?

No, it had to be her imagination. Still … in a house like this … one never knew. She headed over to the bed and reached out tentatively and poked the tail of the dragon-like toy.

It twitched. Then the tail curled over Idhril’s arm. Then the creature – for creature it was – raised its head and looked at Elnara and chirped.

Elnara blinked again. What the hell?

Idhril stirred at the sound and looked up at Elnara, then giggled and stretched and rubbed her eyes, slowly waking up.

“Hi, Mama,” she said in a sleepy voice, covering a yawn. “When did you get home?”

“Idhril,” Elnara said slowly, not answering her daughter’s question, “where did you get that? And what is it?”

Idhril’s golden eyes grew bright, and she giggled and reached around to put her arms around the creature’s neck. “This is Xue!” she told her mother brightly. “Isn’t she cute? I asked Grandpa if I could take care of her, he said Grandma couldn’t take care of both of them and if he couldn’t find someone else then he would have to separate them! I told him I was a big girl, though, and that I could take good care of her. He’s gonna help me, too! He’s gonna tell me when I have to feed her and how much I have to feed her, and take care of her, and clean her and play with her …”

“Idhril,” Elnara interrupted, “when did Grandpa give her to you?”

“This morning,” Idhril replied happily, cooing at the dragonlet and petting its head. “She’s awful cute, Mama! And she sleeps with me and she’s really comfy!”

Elnara sighed inwardly. “I think we should go find Grandpa and give her back,” she said, sitting on the edge of the bed and reaching out for Idhril. “Come on.”

“No!” Idhril exclaimed, hugging the dragonlet tightly. “No, she’s mine! If we give her back Grandpa’s going to have to get rid of her and then she can’t be with her brother that Grandma has! That’s not fair! You wouldn’t take Storm away from Starr would you?”

Elnara stared at her daughter, completely at a loss for words.

“Idhril,” she tried to speak.

But Idhril burst into tears. “No! No! No! You can’t take her away! She’s mine! I have to take care of her!”

Elnara was completely flummoxed now. She had never seen Idhril cry before, nor had she seen her so passionate about anything. It looked as though there was no way out of this one. It looked as if Idhril had herself a pet.

She sighed. “Well then, you’re moving into your own room,” she gave in. “You may want to sleep with it, but I’m not.”

Idhril stopped crying immediately and smiled brightly, still hugging the dragonlet close. “I’ll take real good care of her, Mama! You’ll see! We won’t be any trouble, I promise!”

Elnara sighed again. It was a little late for that.

Mother’s Log
26 December

What a surprise! Idhril’s grown! I couldn’t believe it when I first saw her, but it’s so wonderful! She’s taller than everyone now, taller even than Serenity. Poor Celebor, he wanted so badly to be the tallest. Well, he still has a chance: after all, he himself is also still a child. Idhril’s grown to be so beautiful … a child she may be, but she looks like a small adult, very mature and very beautiful. Her eyes have grown slightly darker, but they don’t sparkle any less than they did! Her hair is as long, proportionally, of course, as it used to be … it still drags on the ground. Thankfully, Feng’s taught her how to put her hair up a bit, at least enough so that it doesn’t drag.

I suppose the strangest part about Idhril’s growth is the fact that she did, and Storm and Starr didn’t. They after all are … older than her, and by a fair amount. Then again, of late it seems as though there is little about my Second children that makes sense. Perhaps something has happened. I don’t know. At any rate, I’m glad that at least Storm and Starr are still small together. This way, they at least have each other, still, so it doesn’t bother them as much as it might have.

Idhril of course is most concerned about Silvrendir – again, understandable. He had always taken care of her, and now she’s worried that since she’s bigger than him, he might not want to, or see a need to anymore.

We shall see what comes of all of this.

Mama says it’s time I start keeping my own journal. I know the things that are the most important to me, so I’ll be best able to write about things that actually matter.

Here goes nothing.

I’ve been attending all of my classes at school, and I’ve been doing well enough in most of them. I’m not fond of math. It’s not my strong suit. Then again, it seems as though nothing is. I look forward to the day when I can finish with school and learn things that I care about, or when I can work with Papa …

Skye spends a lot of time with Papa. Going with him to work every day. I know it’s because she can’t come to regular school like the rest of us, but still … I have to admit that it makes me a little jealous. I would love to go with him, learn how the library works, and how I can work with him to help with his workload … Even Shiro gets to go more often than I do.

On the bright side, though, Kaito hasn’t been bothering me as much lately. Not since Silvrendir broke his wrist … it was a horrible thing to do, really, but he couldn’t help it. It was an accident. Kaito knows better now. He hasn’t tried to pounce on me since then, though he still does try to tug my hair, especially when it’s in a braid.

I suppose that’s just his nature.

Silvrendir’s been wonderful, except for that one incident. He helps me with my studies (which I need very much), and he’s been learning barrier magic from Grandfather so that he won’t have another accident like with Kaito. It took him a while, but he’s finally catching on – and now he wants to learn more from Grandfather. Well, I wish him luck – he deserves to do well. He always does so much for me … it’s time he did something for himself.

Celebor brought me another pouch of the henna dye from Niyana – I guess he ran into her in the Seconds world. It makes me feel wonderful to know that she’s thinking of me. I hope I get to see her again.

As for my studies … I suppose I’ll just have to work harder.

Guardian/Guarded’s log
June 9

I don’t know what to call myself anymore. Am I still the one being protected, guarded, or am I now the one who is doing the guarding? I know that as far as Silvrendir is concerned, I am the one being guarded. He has always been watching over me, learning defensive barrier magic so that he can protect me from whatever might threaten … but I have found someone who needs me more than I need him.

His name is Joruri. He is an angel, a puppet, a marionette … yet he is alive. I found him in the Seconds world, hanging in a tree, his strings all tangled … he wasn’t alive then. According to him, the correct term is “suspended of life” … once I got him out of the tree, and brought his vase back to him, he became alive …

He saved me from the storm, too. I’ve always been scared of storms, even though I’ve never really had reason to be, like Skye. But … the lightning … and the thunder … it’s so scary … but when it stormed there I didn’t feel scared at all, Joruri held me like Mama does and he put his wings around me and even though we were just in a cave I felt warm and safe with him. I’m never going to leave him, never ever, because if I do I’ll be killing him too, just like his old master did …

His old master hurt him. A lot. He’s got a big scar across his chest … like someone cut out his heart or something. I want to help him, I want to make him all better. Mama tried, but Joruri got scared so she didn’t even get to really try … but maybe he’ll let me try, maybe he won’t be scared of me.

I have to go to the library then, and I have to look at books about healing. I bet Papa can help me find books like that. Then I can know how to help Joruri and make him all better!

I’ll go as soon as I can, maybe after school.
