For the past couple years now, I have really been searching for the truth... I was raised Protestant, but I always didn't really feel that it was completely flawless. I think the reason it is so hard for me is because I have never been able to follow anything blindly and without question. I have been praying about this for a long time and am just not getting any answers. Does anyone have any ideas? Or should I just continue praying about it? I really don't know...

Hmm... all I can say is that if you have a stupor of thought, that's an answer too. It usually means you're making the wrong choice. If you can think clearly about something, then it's probably the right one. I can't garentee anything, but you'll have an answer in some way or another.

Glimare is right. Try searching out another religion and then praying about it. Naturally, since you are in this guild, you may want to research the LDS religion a bit. You can ask questions all you like here, but please don't make them argumentative wink

thank you very much.
Yes, I am sorry, I tend to be extremely argumentative, but I am working on it. I have read the Book of Mormon (including a children's version) and a lot of pamphlets, but I just have trouble finding faith in it simply because I wasn't exposed to it at an early age. but, nonetheless, thank you for your help and support smile

I taught someone on my mission that was in almost exactly the same boat as you - though he attended church with us every week, and we taught him once a week. His "problem" was that he simply couldn't recognize the answer given him. If you have not, I suggest reading from the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. If you don't have one, you can go to mormon.org and get one there. While I am not online tooo often, I will also answer any questions you have.

It doesn't matter how old you are when you first hear about the church. My dad didn't get into it until he was 19 or 20. He was baptized when he was 9 but was raised away from the church.

It doesn't have to be blind faith. The more I study the Book of Mormon, and the more I learn about church doctrine and why the prophet has said the things he has said, why he has set forth the standards and guidelines that he has, why we have things like the Word of Wisom and dress modestly, things like that, the more I come to realize that this gospel makes sense. Really, for me it's no longer an issue of blind faith so much, because it all just makes sense that there would be a God, and that He would want his voice heard to his children, and so we would have a prophet today. It makes sense that He would want families to be together forever. It makes sense that He gives us challenges to help us grow. After studying it out and searching for the reasons behind the doctrine, I have found that my faith has been made so much stronger.

I know sometimes older people have a harder time with that and if you are taller you would have to bend your knees more to be immersed in the font sweatdrop

It's actually, however, the most interesting baptism story from my mission. I could have an entire thread just about it.
