Swish swosh, swish swosh.. Kuval's tail made a strange noise in the air, and it seemed his body was still wet from leaving the water!
The fishy and noisy male noticed that the weather today was rather hazy, bringing specks of water in the air around him. It was the PERFECT wandering weather, since he would not be plagued by the sun's awful heat. Lately he had remained in any watery area only, but today brought about a new adventure for him to acknowledge.
With a final step forward, Kuval breathed in the wonderful moisture filled air and scoped out the area for any sign of life.
Pity, on a day that he could finally wander, he was unable to spot any other 'breeded' Soquili. Besides Pakpao, he really had no desire to venture out and meet others. But today was different! It was a chance for him to learn more about the area, and not just dwell in his watery domain.

One thing that had to be said about haze; it had a tendency to make all Soquili look the same. It didn't matter how bright or flashy you were to look at, drop you in the middle of some mist and you'd look gray. Not that it really mattered for Modera, since she was ALWAYS gray, but for others...
She didn't care that much for the haze, actually, but she wasn't really that against it, either. It might be an obstruction, but it also tended to keep people close to their homes and kept them close and behaving; sunshine had a bad habit of provoking the most outrageous shenanigins and bits of wastefulness, gluttony and the complete disregard for others that comes with just a little bit of restraint.
But then, that was a problem with Soquilis; they HAD no restraint. Eat and drink till you explode, never caring about the consequences...oy.
So with THAT in mind, the gray mare was more than happy to enjoy the peace of the haze.

Kuval tried to avoid mainlanders for the most part, since when he was little he was mocked and called a 'sea monster'. Since then, he tried to walk along the quieter areas of the land, knowing that others were too social to venture near dark ponds or lakes.
To his suprise though, he was able to spot something in the distance.. something gray. Oh great, a living Soquili was in front of him, though it didn't seem like they had spotted him yet. Kuval could turn and dash in the other direction, but it had been years since he had spoken to anything that wasn't underwater. With a apparent snort, he dramatic shuffled his hooves loudly, so the figure would notice him better in the fog.
He didn't want to startle her, especially since the haze was drastic enough to hide anything. As he got closer though, he noticed it was a female, and that made him lighten up for a second. "Good day." he said, staley, and he stopped in front of the gray female before completely observing her in silence.

Walking along as she was, Modera wasn't expecting to encounter anyone else out and about. It was hazy, and most Soquili didn't like not seeing where they were going. Combine that with the clinging moisture of the mist, and you had a set of circumstances that were undeniably unpleasant...for most.
However, the sound of hooves shuffling against the ground was a clear indication that not all Soqs felt that way. Then again, SHE was out here, and if she was, then it stood to reason that other Soqs might feel the same way.
Though she wasn't really expecting what she saw. At first the silhouette that approached through the haze looked normal; then, as it got closer, a curious frown started to pop up on Mod's face that was firmly established by the time Kuval stopped in front of her.
"Good day. What ARE you?" A bit blunt, but it was a question that needed to be answered.

Kuval raised a brow but decided to have fun with the situation.
"Well, I am a male, with the name Kuval. I also live in this land, and am a seaweed dwelling creature. In my free time I enjoy long walks on the beach, as well as sniffing a nice morning breeze. I am a water dweller, so I rarely come out onto the land, which is why you may not have seen something like me before." With a playful snort, he looked at her firmly before continuing. "And what are YOU? What is that thing on your head? Your tail kinda looks like mine, though." He wiggled his to reaffirm to himself that it was still present even in the hazy air.
Ah well, everything was a game to Kuval, and as he watched the gray female he noticed her long braid that went down to the ground. "Oh, right, your question." he said, with a confident smirk. "I am a Kelpi."

Modera was NOT particularly amused. She had asked a direct question, and in return been treated to a tirade of distressing proportions. Did he have any idea how much breath he was wasting, skirting the point as he was??
Obviously not; if he DID, then he'd be committing an injustice even greater than accidental wastefulness.
Consequently, she stood with her mouth pursed slightly in a prim fashion as he spoke, waiting politely for him to finish before replying in a rather severe sort of voice. "Well, while all of that is undoubtably of great interest to you, all I really needed to know was the last bit. If you keep up with long speeches like that, you're going to wind yourself and ultimately cut your life expectancy drastically." Long-windedness could do that to a person, after all! "I hope you consider the side effects next time, though; it's be a pity if you were done in such a fashion."
By the time she'd finished speaking, Modera's voice had taken on a softer tone, the sort of 'for your own good' tone that she often adopted when moralizing. Additionally, she was even SMILING by the end!
"A kelpi? Is that some sort of fish...creature, or is more of a reptile?" Tilting her head, she eyed the stallion with curiousity; she'd thought he was at first some variant of Soquili, but if he was a kelpi...whatever that was...she must have been wrong. "I'm a Soquli; a unicorn Soquili, thus the horn."

"Ah, " Kuval said, after the unicorn was finished explaining how he might die, "Then I hope I go with great brilliance, for there is no better way to die then being in a triumphant speech." What an honor that would be, and for a moment Kuval was gleaming in the thought.
He watched her try and figure out what a Kelpi was, and brought his amused smirk back on his face. "Yeah, more of a fish. I am an underwater dweller, and I am thankful for that. I don't know how you mainlanders can enjoy this disgusting atmosphere." Especially when the sun was hot, and the humidity was gruesome. Everything was so much cooler and chill in the depths of the water.
"Unicorn? Heh, wouldn't ya know." he added, while shifting his eyes back on her horn. "I have no idea what that is, and you have no idea what I am." he paused, and shot her a raising eyebrow. "Then we are both hopeless I guess!"
The gray female did not seem amused by the way that he talked, so he pondered for a moment on a better strategy for discussion.

Levity. She was being serious, and he was treating the situation with LEVITY!! This was exactly what the problem was with modern Soquili society, they all treated everything like one big joke when it WASN'T all a big joke! Honestly, it was more than enough of a hassle trying to deal with the issues surrounding proper upbringing of foals and the furthering of Soquili-kind outside of the control of those awful Sins without-
No, she must stay calm. This poot...Kelpi...wasn't to blame for the sad state of the world, no matter how much he might be contributing to it. It was her job to make him understand the positives, not condemn him to the negatives!
Taking a deep breath, Modera looked up at Kuval, her gaze meeting his head-on without the smallest flinch or trace of a grin. "There is nothing hopeless about this situation, not unless one chooses to make it hopeless. Seeing as how I know what I am and you know what you are, we could always just clear this confusion up by explaining. For example, a unicorn is a race of Soquili that has a single long horn poking from our forhead, and this horn is imbued with magical healing properties which can be used by touching it against any injury."
She wasn't even going to TOUCH that little snark on the weather; there were always more significant things to discuss than weather; talk of the weather was both a waste of breath and a waste of time.

With a continuous smirk, Kuval strut a few paces forward, before returning his gaze to the female. "Magical Healing properties? I guess that makes you pretty important, then." Wow, was she serious? Well, there was a first for everything, and for Kuval this voodo doctor stuff was completely new in his book!
"I bet you can use that horn for battle too, but I doubt you have any interest in that. Its a shame that all you can do is heal people, if you could shoot out other powers I think that skill would be way cooler." Ah, immaturity.
Being immature was fun for Kuval, and since so many others seemed to get so blatantly annoyed from an immature person, it was always easy to bother a situation. "Well, I think this conversation is pretty much hopeless." he added, before pondering a follow up. "Because what if I choose to make it hopeless? When will you save it?"
Kuval, before quieting himself, wondered if everything he said made sense, but then rather then pondering it too much, he went back to chuckling and watching this 'unicorn'.

"No more important than anyone else." Watching the kelpi strut was strikingly similar to seeing a regular Soquili strut; either way, she disliked it; in THIS case, she disliked it even more because it seemed as though Kuval was bound and determined to single-hoofedly personify every negative trait that existed in the breed.
As though one NEEDED to be above others, really!
"Unicorn horns only heal when we wish them to; they do indeed serve admirably in battle, but many of us prefer to us our horns for peaceful means." Shooting things indeed. What did he think this was, some sort of game? That they were some sort of bow like the two-leggers used, shooting at others?
Honestly. Narrowing her eyes at the kelpi, Modera's reply was crisp as the morning air. "If you purposely wish to be hopeless, that's your business, and it's not my business to bail you out."

"My oh my." Kuval added, almost instantly after the female stopped talking, "You are something, aren't you?" With a cackle, he brought his eyes back on hers, and regained his normal front-placement by her. "Don't you ever laugh, smile, get angry.. well, you have seemed very.. stiff throughout this whole ordeal, and I think that's pretty weird." Since, he was used to most wanting to kick him at this point in time. "Maybe that horn went too far into your brain, and messed up your system."
Oooh, burn. Well, Kuval felt smug enough after it! What an awesome one, he really was the best.
"But seriously," [since he wasn't being serious before? My, he really was losing it.] "Bail me out? Don't you have kindness, unicorns are supposed to have those pure and luxurious hearts." Playing dumb wasn't going to work anymore, he knew quite well what a unicorn was. "If you would leave a poor soul like me to just.. rot away, what would that make you? A monster, it seems."
If anything, Kuval was the monster!

Eyes narrowing a fraction further, Modera gave the stallion a look that was both measuring and annoyed, although it only hinted at the latter. Who did he think he was, passing judgement and insulting restraint? "Whether or not I'm stiff is my business, not yours; though you could probably do to give it a hand, wasting motions as you are. Are you even capable of not fidgeting?" This with a sweeping look of profound disapproval, provoked to the surface by his blatant disregard for proper manners and protocol.
Not to mention tact. Continuing in her clipped fashion, she gave him the barest hint of a glare at his insane accusation that she was a monster. "Indulging in every whim and making it so that others never has to face the consequences for their actions is not kind; it hurts society, and it makes those so aided blind to consequences. If you don't know any better than to not do something foolish now, why would you stop if you were bailed out?"
Honestly, it was like talking to a child. A large, scaly, slimey child, but a child nonetheless.

"No." he answered, and moved his body about even more to bother her. "I like moving, it makes me feel alive. You should try it some time!" He gave her another sucky grin, and chuckled to himself at the whole experience. Stupid land dwellers, though at least this one was proving to be hilarious!
"I don't care about this society." he said, keeping his tone more serious now. "What goes on up here means nothing to me, thankfully Society is much easier under the water. We have too much fun, I doubt you would fit in."
Ah well- who knew how much longer this mare would want to talk to him, but he did have a habit of basically speaking whatever he thought!
Everyone got sick of him at some point- that was the way it was.
