Ok. I just thought it would be fun to post a thingy where people can tell about funny experiences they had in Japan, or heard about. I have never been to japan crying but I want to someday. I have no stories of my own but my french teacher told me that she lost her passport once, and she couldn't understand what the guy in the subway speaker was saying so she circled Osaka like, a million times before realising that she had kept on passing her stop. She said that people wanted her autograph since she was foreign and she said that she was traveling with another foreigner (or she met him there) who was really tall and blonde, and they couldn't get a taxi because they were all scared of him! lol. so just post stuff that would go with the topic, ok?

I got back from Japan a couple of weeks ago and there were a lot of funny stories, but the most funny things happened on the last train home that we took every night. Everyone was so tired that we all spoke in gibberish and everyone was loopy.
So yeah....
It was a fun trip.

iv never been to japan but iv heard about a friend who went their. but her stay was short lived because her father or some relative died. but the thing was she was trying to explain to her host family why she had to go home.-they didn't understand because she was using the wrong word [you know how there's word for my dad, your dad thing] so they were like 'what?my dad died years ago" im not sure if it was funny at the time, but its sure awkward for those misuses of the language

One time my friend and I were waiting for someone at the busstop and there was a Japanese couple (I'm assuming) sitting diagonally in front of us a bit. So, we're just sitting there, but the next thing we know, we look over and we see the guy with his finger shoved way up into her nose and picking it. It was so bizarre!

Then, a couple of days later, we were in a very crowded part of Namba in Osaka (right near the bridge where you can see the Glico man), and we walk by these two parents and their kid and we notice that that kid is peeing into a bottle that the mom is holding. Then since the dad noticed us looking, he rushes to block our view quite dramatically with arms spread and everything. It was quite comical. biggrin And I really don't understand why they chose right there to have the kid pee in a bottle, especially since there had to be a public bathroom somewhere nearby.

XD That last story was a nice one. I went to Japan two summers ago, and I remember my sister asked me to take pictures of any Engrish I saw. The lady in the store was quite confused as to why I was taking a photo of the 'fraid chicken.'

Also, they find foreigners quite fascinating. I have a picture of a girl in harajuku taking a picture of me with her cellphone- we were both halfway across the square, too. XD Also, a couple of girls took a picture of me taking a picture of my dad in a restaurant. They caught the tourist in action, I suppose. XD

Also, it wasn't really a funny experience as much as it was awkward and fun. We had gone to Kiyomizu Shrine in Kyoto (Kyoto I think? Mebbe Yokohama, but I think Kyoto), and a trio of college girls who were majoring in English had stopped by to give a tour of the place to foreigners! (They came out every weekend or so, they said) They were the cutest things, and spoke English really well, which was a nice break. Well, anyway, after going through most of the place we finally got to the, er... waterfall thing. I forget it's name. XD But that's where the Shrine got its name (Kiyomizu/pure water), anyway, and there are three parts of it that you can drink from- but only one, you shouldn't be greedy- wisdom, love, and longevity. So they have these loooooooong-handled ladley things that you use to drink from (and I chose wisdom... knowledge ftw!), but I had the hardest time getting mine. XD I got the water in it just fine, but people were walking back and forth all the time and it was so crowded, and I just couldn't manage to pull that long handle back. In the end, I whacked someone, but it was worth it. XD

Yup, that's it. It was a great experience going to Japan, though.
