Some two dozen days out of D'ob, running smooth and strong with eyes open had brought him to this sight. His coat was sleek now, his muscles strong and though he was still slightly skinny he was undeniably a healthy, handosme creature.

Brown eyes stared out over the endless, shining ocean. The sun glimmered off the surface of the green-blue water and gentle waves lapped up and down the beach.

Sol pressed one hoof down in the sand, lifted it up and regarded the pattern he had made. So this was Quirne and that down there was proper sand. He seemed to remember being told that the grains under his hooves were really tiny pieces of rock and shell broken up by the ever washing ocean. Whatever sand was made of it certainly took a print well.

Smiling to himself, the pale stallion turned his attention back to the vastness of the sea. Somewhere along this coast a Rit had been seen many many days ago and had to be found. The trail was cold and, distinctive though she sounded, Kati-Nana would not be easy to locate. Sol smiled faintly at this and bent to rub at an itch on one foreleg. If it were an easy task, anybody could have been sent to do it. As it was not Lady Nyx had chosen him for it and he couldn't help but feel proud of that. The splotched Aeri believed in him even as he believed in himself.

She would not, he decided firmly, be disappointed.

Chandara looked out across the ocean again she had left her companion a few weeks ago to return to the ocean. As usual it was absolutely delightful. A mysterious smile played itself on to her muzzle. Chandara tossed her purple hair out her of face. The moon goddess colored mare turned to walk down the beach fine sand grains filling her hooves as she stepped nearer to the water. Chandara felt the cool waters stoke her legs delicately as she took her first few steps. The water was about ankle high now on her and she began to walk down the beach again.

Sand underwater was seemingly no different, Less coarse perhaps but still he same. Chandara's tail fell gently into the water behind her. It truly was lovely the ocean...

The deep blue mare with soft light silver spots was rather visible during the daylight. She indeed preferred the evening but something had compelled this lady to take a daylight walk. But it was always good to see both sides of something, Chandara though with a smile.

What would the fates have in store for her today? Chandara often thought. Fate would show her in time.

A gentle slaty smelling breeze blew across the sea shore.

A gentle breeze played through the tall stallion's mane, blowing it in front of his eyes. Giving a snort, the Ichsa tossed his head in an effort to clear the strands from his view of the world. Partial success was achieved, though as usual his horn hindered matters, but the dark-eyed creature had no time to consider it further. The movement of his head had brought a patch of dark colour into view.

A lady walked the shoreline.

It was obvious from her elegant build, tendril wings and long horn that she was one of his own kind but there was a strangeness to her. A heartbeat later the pale stallion realised what was amiss; the tail that dragged through the shallows was fleshy and muscular with only a tuft of rich purple hair at its end. It put him somewhat in mind of a single-tailed Reya, or perhaps of a Rit.

The mare was beautiful despite the alien air it gave her and, for a few moments, Sol found himself simply watching her walk. Eventually he remembered himself and, with a shake of his head, he set off at a high-knees trot towards her.

"Hail ocean-maiden," he called when he judged himself within easy earshot. " 'tis a fair day and fairer still for meeting such a fair creature as yourself," he said with a smile, coming to a halt a polite distance away from her. "I am named Sol," he said with a deep bow to the dark-eyed mare. "What name would you have me put to this vision of grace and beauty I see before me?" the pale Ichsa asked as he straightened.

She felt some one nearby staring at her but paid it no mind until she was called. Chandara stopped her walk hearing a stallion's voice behind her she turned her head and smiled at Sol. She watched him stop a distance away and turned fully to face him,

"I am known to most as Chandara,” she told him after he had spoken. Ocean-maiden no one had called her that before.

"A fair day indeed fair sir." she replied then added with a mystic tone "Does your search go well?" Chandara had felt his need to find something briefly. She had seen a rit wander by not to long ago, perhaps that was what he seeks.

The ocean's waters still lapped up onto the shore. Chandara still stood in the welcoming ocean. One day she would fly across the waters and find where the Ischa had truly come from. But not now there was still much to do and much to learn.

((^^" Ice, I really hate being a pain but I don't understand how Chandara knows Sol is looking for something. Seers are the only ones that can read minds and such.))

Sol smiled slightly at the sound of the mare's name. Chandara; a most pleasing sound. "Chandara," he said aloud, trying the word out for himself. "A beautiful name; it suits you well," he decided with a nod. Yet, beautiful though both the name and the mare were, the Ichsa stallion found his mind turning to that other mare of his kind, the one his quest was to benefit.

"I wonder if you can help me Chandara," the dark-eyed stallion went on after a moment. "I'm looking for a Rit coloured red, black and white. Have you seen such a creature lately? A friend of mine has asked me to seek it on behalf of another of our kind." It was quite possible that she had; such colouring would stand out well against the sand and the dark-coated mare before him seemed like an observant creature.

Chandara smiled "Why thank you." she said. She thought for a moment "I believe I have seen such a creature." she said remembering briefly the one that had wandered by not to long ago.

"He went down the beach." she pointed with her horn. "Mind if I help you in your search?" she inquired.

((^^"))

The stallion paused, pawing lightly at the sand with one forehoof. He wasn't used to travelling with people, to having help and therefore being responsible in part for the safety of another. Well there had been Vince but that had been a long time ago, relatively, and Vince was Vince. It had been different.

"Err..." Was there a polite way to decline? He didn't want to put Chandara at risk; from what Nyx had told him it was possible that violence had been involved in Coleen's separation from her Rit companion. "Well I..." he was beginning to sound not only rude but stupid as well and he knew very well that he was neither. Time to sort his tongue out.

"I think there could be violence involved," he said after a moment of thought. "I do not wish to put you in danger for something that has nothing to do with you. I greatly appreciate your offer Chandara but I do not know if I can accept it in good conscience." There, it was said now. He only hoped that she didn't take offence at it.

"It bothers me not, but as you wish." Chandara's smile was understanding. Few things bothered the strange Ischa. Perhaps there was something long since past that haunted him. "It was then a pleasure to meet you." she said politely.

Chandara wasn't offended in any way. She understood and accepted. "I suppose you must depart now to catch the runaway Rit for your other lady companion." she smiled "I wish you well"

Sol gave a relieved smile and nodded to the strange yet fair Nequus before him. "A thousand thanks Chandara," he said with a deep bow. "I regret that I must leave so abruptly but I fear this is a matter of some urgency." With an almost shy smile, the tall Ichsa turned in the direction that the blue mare had indicated. "I hope we meet again some day Chandara; I should dearly love to come to know you better."

With these words and a toss of his head, the pale-coated Ichsa sprang away down the beach at a gallop. Perhaps, he thought with a smile, his quest would be over soon than he had expected.

"I too wish to meet you once more, perhaps fate will arrange it." she said "To meeting another day, fairwell for now Sol." she bowed her head in return and watched him seemingly fly down the beach. Chandara continued her walk.
