It's a wonderful anime and I've really enjoyed it. I've only watched the first 5 episodes, so they're really just introducing various characters and adding them to the crew, but I like it all very much. 3nodding

However, Simon is RIDICULOUSLY a lot like Shinji. I mean, I wanted to punch him so much when he was being...a Shinji. You will get annoyed, but from the last two episodes, I didn't see too much of that, so it should be fine [or will it?].

There's also the required batshit crazy girl who's totally badass (for Ginga's rootin'!). You could compare her to Asuka.
