Pyper lay sprawled out on the deck with the sun beating down on her. She was feeling as lazy as ever due to her recent workload. Now it was time for a little break. She felt slightly bad that she was making Eri do the roof work by herself today, but her kitsune friend didn't seem to mind at all. "You okay up there?" Pyper called to her friend.










"Yup! I'm fine!" Eri replied, wiping a bead of sweat from her brow. She felt a comforting, cool breeze glide across her shoulders, giving her a new wave of energy as she pounded a nail through another roof tile. They wouldn't be blowing off during the next storm!










A radio that was sitting somewhere near Pyper was tuned in to 60's 70's and Whatever we Want station. Carry On my Wayward Son by Kansas was playing, and Pyper sang along, carefree. She quietly wished she had her guitar, whom she lovingly calls 'Arvinda', set up. But at the moment it was packed away somewhere. She didn't want to get it out, especially during that last terrible storm. She was afraid the house would blow and the instrument would get carried along with it to some place far away. Now she couldn't have that happen!

Fluffy ears picked up the sound of her name being called. "Eh? Oh it's Tamu-chan!" Eri said with excitement, hopping off the roof and landing near Pyper, almost scaring the half-asleep girl out of her wits. Eri black kimono flaring around her feet, as she bounced over to greet their friend.









"What?! What?!" Pyper gasped, sitting up. "Oh ok," she chuckled, waving her arms back as she gave a loud yawn. Her white kimono sleeves slid down her arms, resting coiled on her shoulders, until she moved her arms again to prop herself up so she was leaning partially back. "Hey there!" she called. "Long time no see! Come over and sit with us!" she called, clicking of the radio.

"Hey, on holiday? I suppose. I've had no calls today so I'm just sort of lounging around. Eri wanted to use the opportunity of nice weather to work a little on the roof though. I told her I'd help, but she insisted I take a break," Pyper replied.










"Yeah. And what about you? I noticed you're by yourself today. I usually see you with Beth-chan. Of course that doesn't mean a girl can't go off on her own when she feels like it!" Eri laughed knowing people thought the same thing of her and Pyper though they weren't a couple. "Would you like a drink or anything? I can make you something special. It'll taste amazing. It's perfect for days like this!" Eri suggested as her tail flipped about and stopped to coil around her leg.










"Oooh I'll take one. Your drinks are good!" Pyper cheered, waving a happy fist in the air. "Mine with alcohol please. You can get'm both ways," she added, turning to Tamuril.

Before Eri could hear entirely what Tamuril had to say, she was already inside getting drinks.











On the other hand, Pyper was still listening. She chuckled at Tam's not being used to alcohol, and 'poison' comment. "The more you drink, the easier it gets," she laughed. There was a long pause though when sheh eard the last part. "You need help with Bethan? Is everything okay?" she asked, suddenly getting a very serious look on her face. Maybe this is why Tamuril was alone at the moment.









Just then Eri had reappeared in the doorway holding three drinks on a tray; one for Tamuril, one for Pyper, and one for herself. She had even brought a plate of sweet and sour chicken and three sets of chopsticks. She slid the door shut behind her skillfully with her foot. She set the tray down and looked to Pyper who for some reason looked suddenly anxious. "Is everything alright," she questioned.









Pyper picked up her drink and took along sip. "I dunno. Something's up with Bethan? Pyper answered, well it really came out more like a question. Both girls looked to Tamuril. "Tell us more, we'll help anyway we can!"









Eri noddd her head vigorously. "Of course! the winged-kitsune agreed.

"Ooooh...oh ahhh I see. I see. Well then you've come to the right place. If there's anything I know about it's demons, ghosts, and the supernatural. That's my business after all," Pyper said with a sagely nod.










"Yup," Eri agreed, nodding wisely as well."And so you say it's a Herald?.... Eri asked allowed, proccessing the thought. She wrinkled her nose a little at the fact that Bethan thought it was evil based on it's appearence.









Almost as if picking up on Eri's thoughts, Pyper began to speak."Well there's no way we can tell whether or not it's actually evil without meeting it first. But just because it's demonic-looking doesn't mean anything....well that can necissarily help me figure anything out. Oh, but as you say it's a permanent guest....well then I'm guessing it's not hurting anybody. My thoughts are... if you think it will be staying, you should give it a name. One it approves of, of course. Hmm..."









"What does it look like? You say it's a 'he'?" Eri asked curiously, leaning closer and taking another sip of her drink. She smiled when Tamuril thanked her. Her ears were focused on another sound now however; flicking toward a rustling bush. But she tried to ignore it for now.









Pyper on the other hand was staring directly at the bush. She was still conversing with Tamuril and Eri though. It made her look like she was talking to the shrubbery or something. She removed her eyepatch revealing a lighter-colored, but still blue eye."But getting them to stop fighting. That's key.... You know...speaking of Heralds....Shino stopped by here..." She paused, as if thinking it over. She had surmised, after talking to the little mouse girl, that she was close to Tamuril and Bethan. "She has a new friend, a Herald whom she seems to have adopted. His name is Locke. He's still young though.... But perhaps they're bond...could showing something to Bethan. Or at least Shino could talk to her. She comes by here often. I could ask her. And I wouldn't mind....of course if YOU don't mind, letting me meet this fellow Herald of yours too."

Eri's eyes widened. He knew her name? No, he must have heard Tamuril or Pyper say it. Reguardless, she answered, "Yes, I'm Eri." She stood up and fluttered over to wear the Herald was standing; landing right in front of him and holding out her hand in greet. "Don't be so harsh on Tamu-chan. She just came to visit....."










"Yeah," Pyper agreed, coming to her friend's defense. She watched the Herald carefully before speaking again. "So...what's your name...or what would you prefer to be called?" she asked curiously. "All with good intentions are welcome at are temple. It's a haven for both humans and the supernatural. You're invited to stay if you like, as I don't forsee you being a threat...or evil at all really. At least not TRUE evil. That darkness doesn't surround you." ((I'm just assuming that as of now, he's not a murderous evil dark lord or anything. xD; ))








"Mhmm, we can even get you something to eat or drink. Or a place to rest if you're tired even. Though I would love it if you stayed awake and chatted with us. We'd like to get to know you. I'm sure Shino and Locke would too. It's too bad they're not here now. I'm sure Locke would like to meet another Herald." she gave a sagely nod, and smiled. "Oh! But forgive me. We've forgotten our own introductions! As you guessed, I am Eri....a winged kitsune. And here is my friend Pyper. She's an excorcist of sorts; dealing with ghosts, and demons like myself," she finished, with a bow. She turned and hopped back onto the deck, motioning for the Herald to follow and join them if he liked.







Pyper rolled her eyes and took another sip of her drink."There's no need to be thaaat formal Ri-chan. But yes, join us if you will. It would be our pleasure. Come relax on this fine day with us!" Pyper said, offering him a smile. Her blind eye seemed to sparkle just a little more in the sunlight, what a strange sight.

"Yes I suppose you could call it a hotel," Pyper snorted, sending a glare in the herald's direction. "Of course I wouldn't let just ANYONE stay here. After all... I am an exorcist. Evil beings can't stay here," she remarked casually, though it sounded almost like a threat. She was so stubborn.









Eri quickly elbowed her and rolled her eyes. "She doesn't mean it like that. Anyway 'hey kid' simply won't do. We should try to think of a better name for you. Don't you guys agree?" Eri said, not really leaving it to question as she began to immediately name names. "It should probably be based on his appearence...hmm Kage-Shadow, Ouji-Prince, Hi-Light, or maybe Shan-Beautiful, or maybe Kane. That's Welsh for beautiful. And you could change up the spelling for creativity."








"Beautiful huh? I suppose, but you should add something... Beautiful? Beautiful what? Uh...well his appearence is dark...like the evening..or.....yami? Yami tenshi-Dark Angel? Or going with Kane.....Kain?...hmm. I dunno. What do you think Tamu-san?"
