It was early morning on the Aquila University campus. The wind blew softly across the grounds and toyed with the sakura that had blown to the ground. A pair of feet familiar to these grounds stood on the edge of the path. The breeze toying with her curls at she surveyed her new domain.
A trademark smirk formed on her lips and she absently reached up to touch a scar on her cheek. A scar that had cost her, her job here. A place where she had found friends and comfort. No matter how controversial it might have been.
Breathing the fresh air deeply she moved her japanese bow onto her back and started in the direction of the dojos.

Kayne Shaidey walked out of his new dorm room and tossed his keys up into the air with a cheeky smirk after locking the door. Catching them in one hand, he shifted his soccer ball and boots with the other and hopped on down the stairs to the beautiful early morning. It had been three years since he had been in Tokyo, having moved down to Osaka for his first two years of university. But after having sorted things out with his sister, he had realized it was time to start doing things for himself for a change. Returning to the place where his transformation had begun, he decided to give it another shot. Besides, he had laid down some roots at Aquila. It would be nice to watch them grow a little, he thought with a slight smirk.
He had been back a grand total of one day and had already gotten himself moved into his new room. Now he was off to start getting in some practice for the football tryout he had lined up with the coach here. As he walked out towards the athletics complex, he allowed his mind to wander as he looked around. He was hoping to catch Ra sometime later in the day so they could catch up properly. Tossing his ball up cheerfully, he missed the catch and watched it bounce on the ground and roll a bit, stopping a few feet from someone walking towards the dojos.
"Oi!" he called to get the woman's attention to ask her to kick it back to him, but he stopped and blinked. No. It really couldn't be... could it?

Jess had been happily minding her own business when a ball landed at her feet. She was fully intending on ignoring it. Let the lazy bugger who kicked it get it themselves.
That was before the shout. Blinking she stopped dead and stared ahead of her. She knew that voice. She would know it enywhere. it couldn't be, fate really was not that cruel. Breathing deeply she bent down to pick up the ball and turned round.
it bloody was.
Allowing a smirk to take over her shock she booted the ball back to him. "Well, well." She chanced a joke. "Look what the cat dragged in. You know they arrest stalkers." She said, shifting her weight to one leg and folding her arms.

A cheeky smirk slipped over Kayne's lips as the woman turned around and it proved to truly be Jess. Wow. Fate really had a sense of humor, he thought as he caught the ball under his foot, then kicked it up so he could catch it. Laughing at her joke, he leisurely closed the space between them and gave her purposeful once over with his silver eyes.
"I did know that. I was just wondering if maybe you did," he smirked and returned his eyes to hers. "I thought you no longer worked with Aquila," he said conversationally, noting the scar that graced her cheek.

Jess smirked as his eyes swept over her and raised an eyebrow in an unspoken response. "Yeah, well, couldn't stay away from the dump could I." she said with a shrug, looking around at the buildings. "Though the truth is no one else would hire a waster like me." she grinned and shrugged. "how about you? Get kicked out? Not Kinki enough for Kinki?" She asked, smirking as she looked over to a group of students out for a morning jog.

Kayne gave a snort of laughter at her return question and shook his head. "Nah. The truth be told it wasn't kinky enough for me," he smirked and gave her a cheeky wink. Truth be told, he was truly stunned by her sudden appearance. He had thought of her often in the past few years even though he had tried to move on. He supposed it was true what they said, you never forgot your first love.
"Truly though, I just needed a change of scenery. Cirrus is getting too lovey dovey with her boy toy and quite frankly, it was grossing me out," he smirked and ran a hand through his shorter ginger hair.

Jess smiled and laughed a little. "Well, I'm glad you managed to step away from the sibling apron strings." She said with a small nod of her head, wrapping her arms around her waist as she watched him for a moment. "I, uh. Don't suppose you fancy grabbing some coffee or something and catching up? Or would that not be a good idea?"

Kayne smirked at her question and looked down at his football for a moment. It was ancient history, right? There was no harm in catching up on the past two years.
"That's so cliche you know," he smirked and looked up at her, rolling his ball from one hand to the other. "How about, fancy taking a dip up in the lake and catching up on old times?" he smirked and watched her for her reaction.

Jess gave a snort of laughter at his words and looked away again. Arse. She thought to herself. Some things never changed. "Nah Kaybe, you're too old for me." she smirked shifting her bow on her back again and turning her green eyes back to him. "So if coffee's out I'll see you around." She smirked. "Glad to see you haven't changed too much."

Kayne gave a snort of laughter and tossed his ball up in the air again. "Alright, alright. You twist my arm. Coffee it is then," he smirked and winked at her as he moved to slip his arm around her shoulders. "Shall we then?" he nodded back towards the campus gates.

Jess smirked and rolled her eyes as his arm went round her shoulders. It was strange to have him so close again, even if it was mainly in jest. "They don't have coffee shops on campus?" She asked, taking his hand and removing it from her shoulder. "Or are you banned for brawling?" She smirked to herself and shoved her hands into the pockets of her track pants.

Kayne gave another snort of laughter and shrugged as his arm was removed from her shoulders. "I'll be damned if I know. I just got here yesterday. I think they mentioned something about a shop somewhere here on campus. Wouldn't you know?" he asked with an arched brow. "Besides... I've given up my old ways," he smirked and started walking in the general area where he had thought a shop of some sort had been pointed out to him.

Jess smirked and shrugged, trying to walk normally on her stiff knee but not really managing all that well. "nope, just got here this morning. Would have been here two days ago but my car gave up the ghost and I had to fork out for a new one. it's rather shiney and sporty." At his mention that he'd renounced his old ways she laughed loudly and shook her head. "Hmm, right. I mean, you look all grown up and semi sensible, but really?" she looked up at him and laughed again. "Wow, a reformed man."

Kayne slowed his pace when he suddenly realized Jess was struggling a bit to keep up and covered it by starting to leisurly roll his ball from hand to hand again as if he had all the time in the world, which he did at the moment.
"Oi, new car? You're going to show it to me right? I've always thought you've had great taste in cars," he smirked and looked down at her. As she laughed at his proclamation, his smirk deepened and he gave her a bit of a shrug.
"It's true. Haven't gotten into a single fight since high school," he smiled. "Haven't had the time really," he laughed. "It's been work, work, school. Not a moment to my self. Especially since mine and Cirrie's apartment had been overrun by both Shuhei and that bloody cat he bought her." He fell silent briefly as he glanced around at the pretty blossom blowing in the breeze and looked back down at her with a genuine smile.
"How have you been? Honestly," he asked.

Jess laughed at the thought of Kayne being attacked by kittens and looked down at the grass as he asked how she had really been. The truth was he really didn't want to know. Winding up injured and thouroughly alone had not been good mentally and really hampered her recovery time. "Um yeah, not bad." she said with a shrug. "Well aside from the whole car crash thing. Can't say that was all that much fun. Especially since my wrist got messed up." She said, pulling back her sleve to show him the scars from her opperations that ran close to her tattoo. "Got some proper good war wounds. How about you? You look like you're having fun?"
