Personality: Jake is a warm-hearted guy, the kind of person who just warms up the room. Usually when things are looking bad, he always looks on the bright side, and if there isn’t a bright side, he panics. Known for his good sense of humor, he loves to make people laugh (Its 'music to his ears'). In fact, he’s always dreamed of doing stand-up comedy (but he’s never been brave enough to do it). When people ask him where he gets his material, he says he got it from the tv show
Mystery Science Theater (in fact, he regularly watches it on Youtube to get new ideas). Even though he’s usually friendly to most everyone, he has a nasty temper. If you cross him, he
will get back at you.
Although he’s usually ‘Mister Smooth’, he freezes up around girls. It’s (according to him) his kryptonite. Around a girl, he gets quiet, stutters, and acts like a total spaz. The reason for his problem started way back in 2nd Grade, with his classmate Janet. Spanning from 2nd to 7th Grade, she would tormemt Jake on a daily basis; tripping him in the halls, spiking him in the face with volleyball/football/basketball/dodgeball during gym, etc. The years of bullying caused Jake to develop his little phobia. Personally, this is a big challenge for him because he does want to have a girlfriend.
Although he may appear to be an absent-minded goof, Jake's quite an intellectual. At home, he usually spends a lot of time reading, mostly science fiction (it fuels his wild imagination). He also has quite an affinity for animals (which probably started when he was four, when his father showed him the movie
Godzilla, King of The Monsters). Over the years, Jake's had over a dozen lizards, dogs, guinea pigs, goldfish, and turtles. Currently, the only pet he has with him at his apartment is his Saint Bernard Guinness. At college, he hopes to one day get a job working with animals, like a zookeeper.
Background: Jake was born on May 19, 1989 to Katherine and Ryan Hayes. He has two younger brothers, Zach (age 17) and Tom (age 13). He grew up in the quiet town of New Lenox, Illinois. Jake’s childhood wasn’t that different from our own, full of ups and downs, crushes and bullies, work and play. In high school, he took an immediate interest in science and did well in most of his classes. He wasn’t the most popular kid in school, but he had a lot of friends. Currently, Jake lives in Chicago and shares an apartment with his longtime friend Ray. The apartment's not luxurious, but it's pretty great pad. He works as an usher at the famous
Oriental Theatre (he has sworn that he will never work at a fast food place, since he'd rather keep his dignity) and is attending college at the University of Illinois.

Jake's Pukka is a chain of St. Francis Assisi (the patron saint of nature). He got it from his grandmother (Charlene Hayes) for his confirmation (which is where he got his middle name). He never takes it over, since it's his most prized possession.
