Who is Uncle Sam?
There are two ongoing explanations for where Uncle Sam came from. One suggests that it was the name for Uncle Sam Wilson, the man responsible for providing the US troops with meat. The other is that it was taken from the Irish term Stáit Aontaithe Mheiriceá (SAM), meaning United States of America.
