Do any of you have a nick name in Jazz band? Everyone in my jazz band calls me Bruiser because I push dudes in my section if they full around. I know that's not nice but I take jazz seriously. My trumpet teacher gave me that nick name. Does anyone what to share?

They used to call me "The Tongue" because i used to use too much tongue on my solos before i knew better. There were other reasons but i wont get into those <.<

We mostly call each other by our first names, but for some reason, I always get called by my initials. One guy started calling me "TH14" after the soccer player, and then it just got shortened to "TH." Kinda lame, but at least it's better than my bassist's nickname, "donkey-raping s**t-eater."

Everybody in my jazz band would always call me ... well joey (which is my name everybody uses (but its my nickname)). The thing that had to deal with me was that they would joke around like "joey's the MAN!" because i would step up to the plate and solo, and i was the only guy in the trumpet section. WE would call the only trombone in the class scroggs (that was his last name)

I laughed when I read each of your posts!
In jazz band during my sophomore year, our teacher nicknamed me The Secret Weapon. No, I didn´t like it: it drew way too much attention to me and my fellow band members teased me about it. He also thought of calling me Triple Threat; once again, I didn´t like it. I don´t know why he gave me either of these nicknames, but I told him to stop and he did. However, before I told him, he publicly introduced me as The Secret Weapon at a concert, and I was very embarrased. Maybe he called me The Secret Weapon because I was the only tenor in school who knew how to solo at the time. Maybe he called me Triple Threat because I play clarinet, alto sax and tenor sax. I don´t know. It just got to me, and he stopped after I politely told him to. In middle school I was nicknamed Tiger by my weird bandteacher, and once again I have no clue as to why. I didn´t care for this one since it made no sense. Others in my high school jazz band called me "freshman" because it was my first year in the band despite the fact that I was a sophomore. Other nicknames were "Kenny G" for this trumpet player who was Kenny G for Halloween; "One Question!" for our Indonesian keyboard player who, whenever he had a question for the band teacher, said "Hey Mel! One question!". Other nicknames were "Lover Boy and Lover Girl" for a couple, "Big Daddy" for our lead alto player, "Vero" for Veronica, and "Matthew-san" for this very physical trumpet leader named Matthew.

"freshmannn!" "tenorman" "chick with the licks"
Yeah. >.> Sort of boring. x3 In MS I was "the man" because I was the first one to step up to the plate for improv.
edit: I see how unoriginal the musicians at my school are. xD

People in my band call me Davy or Davy Jones or Jones because I play the organ; I have a huge organ at my house that is REALLY loud and has three keyboard measures.
