Ok so I asked my bd if I could take a flute home over summer break so I could have another instrument to play. Well, I being a trumpet player, can't hit the upper register! So would the lovely flute players be ever so kind as to help the poor stupid trumpet player hit the upper register sweatdrop

Tighten your corners, and blow faster air.
Trust me, it takes some time, especially with the notes that are an octave above the staff (yes, we play that high up).

The highest notes have alternate fingering. Find a good chart, one that goes to the Highest C in our range. Blow hard.

roll in a little bit as you tighten your embouchure. after a while, rolling in becomes second nature and you won't even have to think about it.

The higher you get, the looser your bottom lip. The corners of your mouth still need to be pulled back, but if you can't tighten everything. Think about relaxing your lips more.

Sit up, or stand, have good posture. Don't stress yourself out, just blow hard.

don't worry about it cause im right there with ya. i am a french horn, low brass, and trumpet player. i also play flute and it just takes some practice. what i did as practiced constantly on working my way up. slowley mastering each key and note until a month later i could do it.

Fast air. Don't tense up too much; make sure the embouchure is still relaxed, almost as if you're playing low notes (just faster air). Make sure your throat is opened, too.

Don't clench up and force the notes out. Fast and constant airspeed. Make sure to blow across the hole and not into it.

Well. If you play trumpet and you're trying to play the upper range on flute. . . Do not think "BLOW SUPER HARD". That almost never works. It takes a lot of getting used to though. Trust me. When I started playing flute after originally playing trumpet. . . My lips were gone XD ANYWAYS! Getting the notes out in the upper range is a whoopdeefrickendoo. Getting the notes out in the upper range with a good sound is a YAY! razz
Personally, when I play up in the higher range, I don't think blow hard... More like... Super fast air. Kind of like when you're playing piano or pianissimo -- big breath small fast air. That's how I learned. It's the same as playing piano so you're really trying to focus your air. Another thing that kind of helps in the upper range is directing your air flow/air stream up. I actually do that when I run through my scales, but when I play in class, it's more like... the higher you go, the smaller your air stream and your lips should stretch in the corners and your actual lips should go up biggrin hope this isn't too confusing razz
one last piece of advice, when all else fails just play with a good sound smile

It all has to deal with embouchure. I've been playing flute for three years and I still have issues with high notes.
