I was wondeering if maybe someone could explain this to me:

Mark matched my pace, apparently eager to spend his pent-up energy with out breaking anything.Even beeter, considering my recent delve into all things human and fragile,I couldnt hurt him.

The part im confussed about is the end of the first sentence.
This piece is from the book Stray.

basically, Mark used his energy though very little of it (not breaking anything like a sweat) seeing that the lines after it would refer to the frailty of the human body, the breaking may also mean that he did it with quick stride, not clumsy. the pent-up, never heard it put that way, but i'm sure that it means, built up energy.

Did that help??

I think it means that Mark has some kind of rage, and by going faster he can burn off the energy from that rage without smashimg things like chairs or vases.

The pent-up part makes it seem like Mark is frustrated with something or someone, but can't do anything about it.
