It was lunchtime. Instead of going to the canteen to eat lunch like everybody else, Akira had sneaked off to the garden. He peeked around before deciding that no one saw him, and that there wasn't anyone around. Settling down on a swing, Akira looked down at his lunch box with a grin. Cook had made it specially for him, and he wasn't going to eat anything else except her fantastical chocolate cake. Oh, his mouth was watering just thinking about it. Brushing his light-brown hair out of his eye's way, he clapped his hands together. "Itadakimasu!" He said cheerfully, before digging in.

You'd think that someone would have been assigned to guide him around the school, considering he was a transfer student and all. But no, Katsuo had refused, knowing that it would probably trouble the other student a lot more than was necessary. He had yet to move into a certain group yet, so he felt no need to be around the canteen during lunch. Maybe tomorrow -that is, if he finished his exploration of the campus before the next day's lunch.
If he did well enough, he might be able to find a nice spot to eat quickly and rest.
Just when he started thinking about just sitting on the ground and beginning to eat his lunch, he heard someone. So, there was someone else out there eating, too. It might not be the best idea to disturb them, but he did need to acquaint himself with more of the other students, so.... "Hello?"

Akira looked up in surprise as he noticed the other student's presence. Feet dangling from the swing(Yes, he was rather...vertically challenged), he waved cheerily to the other. Akira never have up a chance to meet new friends. In short, he was very friendly and trusting. Which was bad in a way if strangers wanted to take advantage of a kid, or so they thought. And that, was why he was made to take up some self-defense exercises.
"Hello!" He chirped, wiping some chocolate cream off the corner of his mouth with a napkin. Then, cocking his head to the side, he observed the other. "You're the new student in my class, ne?"

He should know this kid's name. They were in the same class, after all. He was sure he'd at least seen this classmate before. His name was... Something with an 'A'. Though he could figure out the first letter of the other boy's name, he couldn't remember what the rest of his name was. Now he'd have to ask. Mentally scolding himself, Katsuo smiled to Akira. "Yeah. I just transfered in. My name's Arata Katsuo. Sorry, I know that I should remember your name, but... Who are you?" He grinned nervously. They must have been introduced previously -but he must not have been paying enough attention.

"Ah! Katsuo-chan!" Akira liked calling other people like that, it made their names sound cuter. And much nicer, in his opinion. To tell the truth, he himself couldn't remember his classmate's name...well, he was a new student! Akira thought to himself defensively. He couldn't be expected to remember everyone. "I'm Akira Makoto." He grinned.

"Katsuo... Chan? That's a new one." Occasionally his mother would contract his name, but he wasn't used to kids his age adding the suffix. He wasn't exactly unhappy with the new name, to tell the truth. Nothing wrong with something new once in a while. "It's good to meet you, Akira-kun. I'm sorry again for not remembering your name -it's just, I've been introduced to so many people these past few days... Anyway, would you mind if I ate lunch with you today? This seems like a beautiful spot to eat." He smiled back.

Akira blinked then grinned up at his classmate. Not many people thought of his as a peer though; because he looked...younger. Akira took it as compliments cheerfully, he felt that it was no use to be angry over such a trivial matter. He was perfectly happy with who, what he was.
"No problem! I understand!" He assured Katsuo. "And feel free to join me! It's not very nice to eat alone anyway." Even though the reason why he had come here was to get some privacy from others...well, Akira was always friendly.

Returning the grin with as much confidence as he could muster. He knew that he wasn't the best when it came to meeting someone for the first time -his own fault, since he would sometimes ignore the people before ignoring his music- but he would have to try to be on his best behavior at the new school. If he wanted to actually stay there this time. He inwardly sighed at the thought of switching again. This place didn't seem half bad, after all. "Thank you. Sorry to completely ruin your privacy, though." He sat down wuickly with his lunch, his headphones sliding slightly on his neck from the sudden movement.

Akira grinned, swallowing his cake down before he answered. "If I wanted privacy, I'd be hiding in a corner. I just don't feel like eating with all the others today." He swung his legs absentmindedly and then peered at the other boy. Eyes widened as he spotted the headphones.
"Ohh? What music are you listening to?"

Katsuo broke out what seemed to be a few fresh onigiri. That morning he hadn't had time to actually check what he'd brought. Silently, he prayed that the chef hadn't gotten creative with the ingredients again. "I can understand how you feel. It's good to have some time to eat by yourself." He didn't exactly feel bad for interrupting the other boy's solitude, but he couldn't say that he was proud of himself, either. "Some music of a friend. Care to listen?" He grinned, taking off and offering his headphones.

Akira poked his fork absentmindedly into the frosting and put it into his mouth. Mmmm...it was good. He really must compliment Cook when he got home today. And ask her to make more of this.
"I don't mind!" The boy smiled and took Katsuo's headphones and slipping them on himself. Bobbing his head to the music, he grinned at his classmate. "It's not bad."

Katsuo sighed in relief after taking his first bite of the rice-based food. Though he could taste the expensive ingredients, they weren't anything foreign. "Watch out, if you say you don't mind, I might come back." He smiled, willingly letting Akira borrow his headphones. "He's had better. It's just a good thing he doesn't plan on having that song be the main focus of the album." He shrugged lightly, making a mental note to tell the musician when they saw each other next.

Akira laughed, spooning up another spoonful of cake. "That's fine with me." The brown-haired boy was silent for a while, chewing on his cake. He did know that it was impolite to talk with his mouth full. "Wow, he has an album? What's his name?"

Grabbing another riceball, Katsuo continued to eat. Neither he nor Akira spoke for a short while. This gave him time to eat quietly. However, when the boy asked him a question, he finished the bite he was chewing before answering. "Tobisu Yori. My parents produced his first album. If sales go well, then they may continue with him. If not..." He shrugged. The musician would have to get another contract if things fell through."

Mentally, Akira filed the name. The music was quite nice, and he meant to go to the mall to get some art supplies anyway. Slipping the headphones off, he handed it back to Katsuo with a grateful grin.
"Arata...oh yeah! You guys are in the music industry! Mine do interior design."
