everyone says that utah is the mormon state but i just found out that where i live, southern idaho, has more mormons per square mile than utah. this was a suprise but i can believe it because most of the people in my town are mormon and i have very few non-mormon friends. i just thought that was interesting...

There are very few mormons I now outside of church. As far as I know this past school year there were only two of us at my school, and we were both in the band.

Wow, it must be so different, so easy to be in that kinda situation. Less persecution i guess.

I live in SE Idaho. I have to agree. I know very few non-members. Around 85-90% of the highschool is in the Seminary program. All of the teachers are Mormon. Now mind you, I live in a small town of 2,000.

SOUTHERN Idaho. I guess some just want to be out of the norm? I came to California from England, so this whole Mormons and Utah like peanutbutter and jelly is kind of new to me...

lol, nice analogy. Well since that's where the pioneers went they were the first to settle the area so we were the majority in the Utah territory. So it's just grown and grown. Naturally there are lots of mormons there now.

Yeah. What he said. I don't think it's the number of mormons in the state, although it could be. Btw, KK, I imagine how hard it could be for you, being somewhere where there's rarely mormons around. I myself live in UT, so there's lots of members. My mom grew up in California, and she was the same way. I feel for you. biggrin haha

I grew up in the Philippines... which is a (mainly) Catholic country. When my grandpa became a mormon, the priest said that they were turning into slaves of the Devil.

I live in San Antonio, TX. A lot of Catholics because of the Mexicans. I tell them I'm a Mormon. I clarify all their misconceptions.... including their concept of the Baptism for the Dead (They thought we dug up graves.... hahahaha)...

I grew up and still live in VA. Not many mormons out here. Personally I like it. It gives you plently of room to grow and share the gospel. I for some reason can't stand Utah. Maybe its not as green out there as it is on the east coast. But I also find that most Utah mormon girls dress the same. I find that weird because where I live, there are so many different styles and stuff. This is according to my experinces razz
I also like the mormons down in Flordia. My grandparents live down there and they all welcome me and say hi and fellowship me when I come to visit. In Utah, they just don't notice me. Or they ask who I am and thats it. o_o its like a different world at times. XD

I just moved from California to Utah and it is very different. In California, there are a handful of members in the high schools and here, there are tons! Seminary was before school before and now it is one of the periods of class during the day. It is very strange and different. Like someone stated before, it seems like there were more chances to share the gospel before than now.

I live in UT also, but I love it. Maybe because I've never really experienced church or wards out of Utah. I went to a ward in Oregon once, and I was in primary, so I didn't really understand.

As for seminary, I haven't taken it yet. Everyone I know says it's a blast. I'm pretty excited. I would've never thought of having Seminary before school. That seems very different.

First understand that this is said with very limited experience. But I would think that outside of Utah there are more opportunities to share the gospel but you are so vastly out numbered that sometimes it gets discouraging, but in Utah there is so many more people to uplift you it is easier to stay with the gospel.
well thats just my opinion.

I have never been discourage from there not being enough members where I live. (note that in college, there are only around 4 people who are church members). My ward is pretty small. Living outside of Utah is Very very different. It isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Yeah we have early morning seminary (6 am. So go even earlier). We do face a lot more different views. But it also makes us stronger.
