Why Dorothy and Toto went over the rainbow: -- {SONATA} --I think he would have definietly used it, just not to the extent that Raito did. Knowing L is a very curious detective, he also might've tried it to see if it is true, and probably annoy the heck out of Ryuk by asking him all kinds of questions about it (as I've seen in a fanfic once confused ). And like Raito, he believes that "the end justifies the means"-he uses the life of Lind L. Tailor to bait Kira (and then uses the phrase "precious lives" to describe the FBI agents a few chapters later, obviously to him a criminal's life is not "precious"), he orders to install secret cameras and bugs in the Yagami household, he imprisons and even orders Watari to slightly torture Misa to see if she really is the second Kira; and then also detains Raito and his father by their requests, and uses criminals (Aiber and Wedy) to capture another criminal (corporate!Kira). So I think he has potential to be something like Kira, but he wouldn't rely on the television and the media and kill them off immedietly. He won't kill them unless he's 100% sure or actually has hard evidence (as shown with his suspicion of Raito-he instinctively knows he is Kira, but because of the former two reasons, he won't arrest him yet)-unlike Raito, whose victims might just be falsely accused, etc. And possibly, L might only kill criminals that only have the death sentence, or at least dangerous ones whose actions deserve the death sentence and that he doesn't require help of to solve his cases. To blow off Auntie Em!
