((Thought I'd start a rp here. It's mostly for the PotC otters, but everyone's welcome to join if they want. I just figured I personally wouldn't have much time for thread rp and I already promise Barby rp to some peoples.))
On the bank of the river in TOO, a scruffy otter with a large gray feather in his large hat lay sunning himself. For once, Hector didn't mind the obnoxiously talkative Maria, as she was presently curled against his side, lost in a deep nap. The sun had risen high in the day and the trees did little to block the sun in this area. Thankfully, the pirate otter's hat did wonders to shield the harsh rays.
Hector Barbossa was generally more solitary than normal otters, but in truth he didn't mind company every once in a while. His miniature companion, a small brown otter named Anna Maria, was one of few he tolerated for longer periods of time. Which was a surprise, because few could tolerate her at all.
His observant blue-gray slowly closed when he laid his head on his folded paws, but beneath his hat his ears continued to listen intently to the world around them.

Ripples could be seen moving along the surface of the water, going in a swirling fashion, a more erratic pattern trailing at a distance. The water broke and the head of a female otter was seen and she looked about, giving an annoyed huff when she couldn't find her small charge. "Smee!" she called out and dove back down into the water.
A second later, the head of a smaller otter popped out, a brown male and he gave a mischievous chuckle before he dove back down into the water to keep trying to hide from Elizabeth, or Lizzy.

Hector's eyes opened slightly to see Elizabeth surface. He was about to roughly hush her, afraid that Maria would wake up and want to play, but the she-otter only called her companion's name once and then dove back under. His dark eyes watched with amusement as the mini-otter she had been calling surfaced and then returned to the depths to hide from her. He considered whether or not to tell Elizabeth where her little Smee was. Maria huffed in her sleep and snuggled closer to the older otter. Hector looked down at her, then returned his gaze to the water when he saw her still fast asleep.

Elizabeth splashed out of the water, the scruff of Smee's neck clutched in her maw. She ignored his indignant squeakings and chirpings and hauled him to shore, pausing when she saw Barbossa already laying on shore....with an otter cuddled up to him. Amusement clearly showing in her eyes, she swam over and hauled Smee onto the land.

Hector's eyes narrowed at the amusement he saw in her eyes and wrinkled his muzzle. "Keep quiet, missie. If the little flea wakes, I'll hold you accountable for my later headache," he growled the warning out low in his throat, making sure to keep his words only slightly louder than a whisper.
In response to Barbossa's hushed words, Maria put one paw in her mouth, nibbling with her eyes still shut.

Lizzy set Smee on the ground and held her paw over his muzzle when he opened it to start fussing, "Oh I wouldn't dream of it, Captain." she said captain with a teasing quality in it, meaning he was gonna get it when the little one was awake.

The steel-blue eyes beneath the large black hat narrowed a little bit more at the female, but he grinned showing his perfect white teeth. "Your tone is rather childish, Miss Swan. Perhaps your little Smee has been rubbing off on you?" he asked, tilting his head on his paws as he waited for her rebuttal.

Before she could say anything, Smee shoved her larger paw off his muzzle, "How dare you manhandle me like that, I was just playing around, can't you take a joke?!" he said, quite loudly.

The look in Hector's eyes boardered on murderous, for as soon as Smee stopped yelling at Elizabeth, Maria stirred against his side.
"Mmmm? Wha's all this?" Maria asked, sitting up and rubbing one eye. Her gaze focused on Smee and she grinned. "Someone my size to play with!" she grinned at him and walked over. "Hi, I'm Maria, what's your name?" she asked excitedly. She always like someone new to play with.
Hector sighed and smiled, thankful that she was bothering him for once.

Smee bounced up and down when the other came over to him and introduced herself, his earlier irritation gone, "I'm Smee, wanna play?!" he asked. Not waiting, he bounded into the water, diving down.
Elizabeth let out a breath she was holding, looking like a crisis had been averted for now. Then she turned an amused grin on Barbossa, "Why Captain, I never took you for the mothering type!"

Hector glared at her and huffed. "I'm not. The little flea won't leave me alone. When she's asleep, she's quiet," he explained even though it was really none of her business. Maybe Maria would get attached to Smee and then start following Elizabeth around. That would teach the cocky female a lesson. "What brings you this far downriver? This is not the safest territory in the land, you know," he added as he sat up.
Maria giggled and followed Smee into the water, swimming after him and batting at his tail.

Elizabeth sighed as she laid her long body down, crossing one paw on top of the other, "Smee, he just can't seem to sit still, he always has to do....something! Swimming, running, trying to crawl into something! she said in exasperation, turning to watch the small otters play.
Smee made his squeaky otter noise and turned to float on his back, playfully kicking at her with his back legs.

Hector nodded and looked out at the river where the two smaller otters were playing. "Hopefully they'll enjoy themselves. Maria always wants to play and run and swim. Her persistence is... daunting," he replied with a small shrug. "Did he swim all this way before you managed to catch him?" he asked as an afterthought.
Maria barked back, one eye closed against his splashing and then dove underwater to avoid it all together.

Elizabeth huffed, not wanting to admit she got beat out by the smaller otter, but she nodded, "Yes, it is hard to catch him when he gets into those small places I just can't reach. He is smart, too smart sometimes."
Smee barked and dived under the female look alike, swishing his tail fast in the water.
