i did some research on how music affects the brain for school a while back asnd that got me too thinking, shamans and medicine men have used drum beats to trance out with so why not make music that conveys an entire spell? im going to try this but i wanted some feed back from you guys!

I do that sometimes. It helps spells because not only amm I chanting and doing so with different pitches, but I love to sing. I'm a very musical person. I know 4 instraments (French horn, flute, piano, trumpet) and I can sing ok. I think spells work better if you're enjoying the process.

what i was thinking was using the notes in some sort of pattern in just a simple instrument to make up the spell where there is no actual speaking involved.

Well...hmm, it depends if you can classify the spells into specific genders. For more masculin spells use a flute (perferably a wooden one or a penny whistle). For feminin spells, I would say a drum, but there's not too much of a pitch choice, so maybe a guitar? But for mixes of the gender (or to just simplify the instrament choice) the piano is the best.

I'd say the type of instrument should be chosen based on the spells intent, because gender roles/feelings aren't the same from person to person. I know for everything there are correspondances, so friendship for example may correspond with the wind, if that were the case I'd use my pan flute for friendship (wind instrument). Perhaps bongo drums for earth, piano for fire, and not sure what for water.

seems like a good idea
how and where do you plan to start?
maybe finding a way to find or create a musical pattern that affects magick the same way that a spell does would be... the definition of what you want to do....
um.
