I. DO NOT POST WITHOUT MY (Yuumei Tenshi) PERMISSION.
The only people who are exceptions to this are Ouran High school Staff and those dropping off gifts.
Otherwise, I'll chop off your head put gum in your hair. >3 If you would like to leave a comment in Sai's journal, please PM this mule for permission.

II. IF YOU ARE TO POST, PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR SIGNATURE.
I know, this is being very meticulous of things, and I may be a hypocrite,
but please try to do this so that it look all neat and stoof. I'll try to remember too. :3

III. TYPING IN SIZE 11 FONT IS PREFERRED.
Yes, I know, now I'm being kind of a**l. XD But being a perfectionist, I like uniformity (can't you tell by the over-prepared thread layout? LOL.) I don't care what color you make it. It's my thread, so please, if you are going to post, post in size 11 font. You can post in any size anywhere else in the guild even if you're RPing with/talking to me. Just not here. :3 Got it? Don't worry if you accidently don't. I'm not that a**l that I'll get mad at you over that. XD
IV. IF YOU ARE DROPPING OFF A GIFT, PLEASE DO SO IN-CHARACTER.
This leads to my next rule.
V. NO OOC CHATTING HERE.
Only exception are OOC comments in RP posts. Otherwise, PM me or talk to me in another thread.
VI. DO NOT INTERRUPT ANY STORYLINES IN PROGRESS.
When in doubt, wait it out. You can also PM this mule if you're not sure.
VII. SAI IS MINE, THEREFORE SHE IS NOT YOURS. NOR WILL SHE EVER BE.
(Unless you ask her for her hand in marriage... we'll have to talk about that with the whole family.) But seriously, what I'm trying to say is that Sai Shirakawa is my character and is NOT for SALE. Unless I go inactive and the Ouran High School Staff decide to put her up for adoption. But I'll try not to go inactive, so yeah. Get your own character! They're worth the gold! And while we're at it...
VIII. DO NOT STEAL ANY IMAGES HERE.
MY SHINIES. I spent quite a bit of gold on things I found in the mini shops. If you oh-so-badly want something of your own, don't worry--I link the creators and shops in the Credits section. Go pay all of the wonderful shopowners a visit. They deserve your gold time. 83
IX. DON'T BE SHY. I DON'T BITE... MUCH.
I'm sorry if advance if I come off as... well, anything bad or mean. I'm actually very nice ^_^ Just be ready for a lot of rambling and me to go on semi- or full hiatuses from time to time because I'm soon to be entering my Senior year in High School. I'll spare you the listing of classes and activites, but I'm going for valedictorian... so yeah. I'll try to make advantage of my breaks, though!
X. ...I DON'T KNOW.
I just wanted to make it even and up to ten. XD See? I got a sense of humor. 83

IN-DEPTH
------------
          PREFERENCE Bisexual
PERSONALITY She has a strong sense for justice and equality, which seems to fit her step-family’s business awfully well. Sai despises utter snobs who dare to discriminate, especially against women. Sai does care about gender, but hates how people think that one should be dominate over another. You could say that she’s a feminist, but she won’t.
          • • • • •
Sai doesn’t let in that many people into her heart, but when she does, she cares about them deeply. She may put on a fairly good façade, treating people as fairly as possible, but it’s pretty hard to earn her trust. When you become dear to her, she'll do anything in her power for you. Despite all this Sai can also be very competitive when put up to the challenge; she can be quite cunning and determined. What she may lack in experience, she makes up in perseverance. Her grades are quite exceptional, especially since she has a motive--otherwise, she probably wouldn’t care that much. She can be very apathetic and lazy when she thinks doing something is not worth spending time on.
SUBJECTS Math, science, law, literature and German are her strong subjects. She’s so-so in pretty much everything else. She hates History, however. She likes P.E. despite it being an optional class.
TALENTS/TRAITS Academics aside, she learned to play the acoustic guitar from her brother, as well as to swim and surf. One may not think she would enjoy these things, but since they remind her of her brother, she tries her best not to forget them. She's had cello lessons since she was in elementary school and taught herself to play piano by ear.
LIKES Music, coffee, anything having to do with water, shades of blue (especially aquamarine and sky blue), scary/gory and action movies, savory stuff
DISLIKES Sudden change, incredibly hypocritical or arrogant people, really cheesy/corny romance stories, sour stuff
STRENGTHS Public speaking, time management, quick at learning, realistic (most of the time)
WEAKNESSES Over-working herself, being short-tempered or hypocritical and incredibly obstinate
          PHOBIA Heights

INSTEAD of being born into the family, Sai was officially adopted by her step-father. Her mother grew up as a U.S. citizen, where she met Sai’s biological father, Adam Fleshier. They had two children and lived in California before mutually calling for a divorce. Despite the fact that there are no harsh feelings between the two, it was hard for five-year-old Sai to accept the change. She ended up living with her mother, while her brother, Jin, three years her senior and a very important person in her life, lived with their father in the east coast.
• • • • •
TWO YEARS LATER, on the annual trip to Japan her mother and her always went on, they met the head of the Shirakawa family. It didn’t take too long before they fell in love and decided to get married. Although her step-father’s extended family more or less accept his choice for a wife, they much rather have a male heir of Shirakawa blood. Thus, they look down on Sai despite the great potential she has. Sai wants to prove to them that she is worthy and very capable of the position, which is why she is trying so hard at school. Seems like the "rags to riches" fairy-tale has some kinks to work out.
• • • • •
As for what her STEP-FATHER thinks of her, Sai’s unsure about that... but since he was willing to adopt her that must’ve been a good sign, right?

          IMMEDIATE FAMILY
          ------------

          STEP-FATHER Hiroshi Shirakawa
          AGE t h i r t y-s e v e n
          NATIONALITY Japanese
OCCUPATION Lawyer, Head of the Shirakawa Family
PROFILE A gentle and softspoken man outside of the court, Hiroshi is actually the third son of Masuhara. Because of his cunning skills as an attorney, his father insisted that he became heir as his dying wish. Although he's not the type to show his feelings, he fell head-over-heels for Natsumi. The reason why Sai doesn't know how Hiroshi feels about her is because he honestly doesn't know how to interact with her. In truth, he finds her to be a unique and spunky individual, which he admires a lot about her. He wants to be more of a father figure to her, but due to his inexperience, he's afraid of messing up. The last thing he wants is for Sai to hate him. He shows his fatherly affection for Sai in more stubler ways like legally adopting her and letting her keep her last name by using a hyphen (Sai made a big deal of changing her last name). Sometimes it's so stuble though, that Sai doesn't even realize it.
          • • • • •
          MOTHER Natsumi Shirakawa
          AGE t h i r t y-f i v e
          NATIONALITY Japanese
          OCCUPATION Actress
PROFILE Natsumi is quite beautiful and bright. She married Sai's birth-father when she was still in her twenties and just starting her career. They divorced because her occupations requires her to travel a lot and the long-distance relationship wasn't working for the both of them. Since she moved into Japan with Hiroshi, she has become a popular actress often cast in drama shows. Natsumi cares a lot about her daughter and will put her children before everything else. Although she wishes for her new husband's family to accept her daughter, it seems that Sai will have to earn it by herself. Nevertheless, Natsumi encourages her to do her best.

EXTENDED FAMILY
------------

          GRANDFATHER Masaharu Shirakawa
          AGE e i g h t y-e i g h t [DECEASED]
          NATIONALITY Japanese
OCCUPATION Lawyer, Former Head of the Shirakawa Family
PROFILE Masaharu is the ninth head of the Shirakawa Family and was a great lawyer. Said to have never lost a single case, his children vied for his attention to prove their worthiness as being the next heir. Though in other families, the heir is usually the first son, Masaharu decided against that to be fair. He died eight years before Natsumi and Sai joined the family.
          • • • • •
          GRANDMOTHER Kaede Shirakawa
          AGE s e v e n t y-n i n e
          NATIONALITY Japanese
OCCUPATION Oversees the other Shirakawa businesses and affairs
PROFILE Kaede has become more of a bitter, old woman ever since she became a widow. She stongly believes that the heir of the family should be a male and of pure Japanese Shirakawa blood, which is why she doesn't approve of Sai so much. Hiroshi is her favorite son, so she hopes that together with his wife they will bear a son. Kaede is very opinionated; she influences Hiroshi a lot but in the end, she lets him make decisions on his own. After all, he is a full-grown man.
          • • • • •
          UNCLE Ichiro Shirakawa
          AGE f o r t y-s i x
          NATIONALITY Japanese
          OCCUPATION Lawyer
PROFILE Being the first son, Ichiro thought that he would easily win the right as heir. Unfortunately, when his other siblings were born, he found out he had to earn what most of his peers had as a birth right. He buries his jealousy for his brother as he knows that his skills are indeed better than his. He had to work hard for everything in his life, which makes him think that this is unfair for him. It is also for this reason why he disapproves of Sai becoming the next heir: for a child married into the family to become a heir is incredibly unfair to his children.
          • • • • •
          AUNTIE(BY.MARRIAGE) Saeko Shirakawa
          AGE f o r t y-t w o
          NATIONALITY Japanese
          OCCUPATION Wife, Socialite
PROFILE Saeko honestly can't see why Ichiro is so obsessed with the fact that he lost to his little brother. They often fight because of this. Sai doesn't see much of Saeko due to party ways, but she seems troubled and depressed.
          • • • • •
          UNCLE Toru Shirakawa
          AGE t h i r t y-n i n e
          NATIONALITY Japanese
          OCCUPATION Lawyer
PROFILE When it comes to family matters, Toru is comfortable with what he has. He doesn't mind supporting his little brother as head of the family, though he made an effort to win the position himself. He knows when he's beat and when to quit. He's very logical and yet lazy in a way; he only does as much as he needs to. Sai can't tell if Toru hates her or not, as it seems like he's neutral about everything.
          • • • • •
          AUNTIE Midori Shirakawa
          AGE t w e n t y-s e v e n
          NATIONALITY Japanese
          OCCUPATION Musician
PROFILE Considered to be the baby of the family, Midori decided against tradition and decided to follow her dream of becoming a famous violin player. Currently residing in Paris to study and participate in competitions, Midori seems to be the only one in the family to openly like Sai. She sees quite a bit of herself in her and acts more like an older sister compared to an aunt.
          • • • • •
          COUSIN Shinichi Shirakawa
          AGE t e n
          NATIONALITY Japanese
          PARENTS Ichiro and Saeko Shirakawa
PROFILE The perfect example of what "spoiled, rich kid" means. Unfortunately, Ichiro has instilled a hatred in him towards Hiroshi and his new daughter as he's pretty much trying to live his dream through him. A prodigy now in Ouran Private Academy's Junior High division (so that he's still close to peers his age), Shinichi swears to become the next head of the Shirakawa Family.
          • • • • •
          COUSIN Mamiko Shirakawa
          AGE s e v e n
          NATIONALITY Japanese
          PARENTS Ichiro and Saeko Shirakawa
PROFILE Timid and shy, Mamiko doesn't say much and hides behind her parents whenever they come over to the main house. She understands enough to know where her place and duty is in the family, and that is to become a prim and proper young lady. Since Sai is a new face in the family, Mamiko is afraid to talk to her.

          BLOOD FAMILY
          ------------

          FATHER Adam Fleshier
          AGE t h i r t y-f o u r
          NATIONALITY American (half-German, half-French)
          OCCUPATION Co-owner of a cafe
PROFILE She rarely keeps contact with her biological father, but it doesn’t mean that she hates him. In fact, she loves him very much because of his calm, kind nature. It’s just awkward for both of them to talk, especially since Adam’s so soft-spoken. (Therefore, Sai has never had a strong father-figure in her life.) He sends her gifts on holidays, though. Truth be told, he still loves Natsumi, but wouldn't admit to it.
          • • • • •
          BROTHER Jacob Fleshier
NICKNAMES Jake, Jin (Japanese name given by his mother; Sai calls him this)
          AGE e i g h t e e n
          NATIONALITY half-Japanese, o n e-f o u r t h German, o n e-f o u r t h French
OCCUPATION high school Senior, part-time worker at a cafe and guitar player for a band
PROFILE Sai looks up to her brother so much. She often speaks fondly of him and stays in touch through long phone calls, IMs, and e-mail. Jin still lives in the U.S., attending a public high school. He has a passion for politics and is very bright himself. The two have the same face structure; the only thing that would throw people off from knowing that they are related would be that he has spiky, blonde hair. Probably if no one knew about them being siblings, they’d think that Jin was Sai’s boyfriend (which sometimes happens and makes Sai gag).

          AGE s i x t e e n
PROFILE Sonata and Sai met when they were in Junior High (Sai was fourteen and totally baffled at the new school system). However, since she couldn't concentrate on her schoolwork (because of boy troubles) her parents decided to send her to an all-girls school. Sai at one point thought she had a crush on her, but it didn't take her long to realize that she was just a good friend--nothing more. (Sai blames Spring.) NICKNAME Mel, Mel-mel (what Alice calls her)

PROFILE Al's older sister. Sai always liked her, probably because she used to be their babysitter. She's sweet and a lot like Al. She happens to be Jin's best friend in the whole wide world, but he doesn't realize that Mel has feelings for him. Nevertheless, she supports him and just wants to see them happy. Sai wishes her brother would reach his senses and go out with Mel instead of his current girlfriend. Why? Well, one reason is that if they got married, her best friend would become her sister-in-law. 83

          AGE s e v e n t e e n
PROFILE Sai's guy friend in California. When she still lived in there, they would always go surfing and swimming. He's really talented with a guitar but can't seem to focus in school. He actually really likes Sai but since she moved, he decided not to tell her, afraid that it would ruin their friendship. He still IMs her often.

LIVING.QUARTERS Because she isn't used to the rich life, Sai honestly didn't know what to do with her bedroom. It looks more like a condo to her because she has a bedroom area, a study area, a closet and bathroom to herself (not pictured), a living room area, and a table to eat at. She's still not used to the butlers and maids, so she often gives them more breaks or at least helps them out with tasks. She even sneaks into the kitchen to make her own meals sometimes, usually learning a thing or two from the household chefs. Thus, the servants/workers in the house like her a lot; they think she is charming and like a daughter of their own rather than a young master.
FASHION.SENSE Sai goes for tomboyish, comfortable... and blue. She loves the color so much that most of her clothes are different shades of it. If an outfit or uniform isn't blue, she'll rely on accessories for her blue fix; she ALWAYS has something blue on. She usually wears pants or shorts, but occassionally her girly side (or her mother) would put her in a skirt or even a dress. Her hair (when down) is a fairly good length, so sometimes she puts it up in different hairstyles... or just puts on a hat.

          CASUAL
          ------------
          User ImageUser ImageUser Image
          I. What Sai usually wears at home. It's comfortable and slightly altered by her despite the top being expensive (she didn't like the neckline). She can't wear this when family comes over, however, because her grandmother believes that she should be more "lady-like"... in other words, in a dress.
          • • • • •
II Sai's study clothes. They're comfortable and simple which make it easy for Sai to move around and concentrate. Her hair is often dishelved when she pulls all-nighters.
          • • • • •
III. Sai's "comfort clothes". Usually worn during her bad days and often accompanied by her favorite sweets and ice cream.

COMMONER
------------
User ImageUser ImageUser Image

          I. It's a good thing jeans are usually in Sai's favorite color! One reason why this is considered her "commoner" outfit is the fact that everything was mass-produced. The shirt and shoes are actually things she bought in one of her favorite stores back in America when she visited her family members there. The beanie used to belong to Jin, but was given to her the last time they met up.
          • • • • •
II. While exploring the closest "commoner" mall, Sai picked up this outfit. Although none of the articles of clothing have blue on it, her hoop earrings are actually blue.
          • • • • •
III. A more blue "commoner" outfit, though more girly. Sai has random urges to look like her age sometimes.

          DRESS-UP
          ------------
          User ImageUser ImageUser Image
          I. Sai can be girly, though she's not fond of make-up. The only reason why she likes this outfit is because the materials are comfy.
          • • • • •
II. Commoner or not, Mrs. Shirakawa still loves to spends some mother-daughter shopping time. When the two of them go out, Sai usually wears something like this. It's still casual enough for her, despite it being custom-made for her. (She added in the leggings and an old, favorite bag of hers for her own touch.)

III. Usually, Sai doesn't really like custom-made threads, but this one is an exception. This is one of many dresses that she's forced to wear when family come over. This dress is her favorite one, especially since it's blue. (Though, she wishes it was a little bit longer...)

          I. Sai loves to swim. She doesn't mind being more feminine when it comes to swimsuits, but she prefers to wear surfer shorts to the beach.

II. Every afternoon on the weekdays and every morning on weekends and breaks, Sai goes jogging. Wearing a jacket often makes her sweat more, which is what she wants.
          • • • • •
III. Her evening dress usually worn for events and The like. It took a lot of debate and persuasion, but her mother and her came to a fairly good compromise--she would not show up to a formal party in pants if the dress was:
            a. blue
            b. has a jacket to wear over it and
            c. made of a soft material.

          In turn, she:
            a. is required to wear make-up
            b. wear hosery or shorter leggings and
            c. restricted from wearing costume jewelry or really messy hairstyles with the dress.

Surprisingly, she likes this outfit more than she thought she would.

RHINESTONES.ARE.THIS.GIRL'S.BEST.FRIEND Aside from the countless earrings Sai has, she has other jewelry, too. Sai isn't comfortable wearing really expensive stuff (especially all the time) so she uses those for special occasions.
HOLDING.ON.TO.MEMORIES She also holds on to some of her chilhood things. As Sai's father said to her before she left:"Be sure to always move on. If you fall, fall forward. But every once in a while, look back--you never know if you left something important behind."

SILVER.LOCKET A locket in the shape of a heart given to her by Jin. He saved up to buy it for her before she left for Japan. The heart splits open to expose a picture of him when he turned sixteen (his age at the time) on one side and her as a baby on the other. She wears it with everything, despite the fact that it isn't blue. XD

STAR+MOON.RING After the divorce, when Sai had to move to Cali, Al and her bought matching star and moon rings as a sign of their friendship. They swore on these that they will keep in touch no matter what. Sai wears hers on her right ring finger.

BUTTERFLY.PIN Sai was the bridesmaid for her mother's second wedding. Since she's always adding on her personal touch to things, she decided to wear this on her dress. Good thing it didn't clash with the dress.

MERMAID'S.TEARS A tiny sea-glass bottle, containing a single perfect pearl in saltwater, decorated with bronze metalwork. It is said to enable its wearer to breathe underwater. It was Sai's first gift since she moved to Japan... therefore it is expensive. XD Sonata gave this to Sai since she noticed how much she admired it. Although logic governs her thoughts, Sai especially wears it when swimming or going to the beach for kicks.
          • • • • •
FLIP.FLOP.BRACELET A birthday present from George. Every time she looks at it, Sai is reminded of the times they spent together at the beach.

QUILT Used in the wintertime, Sai's grandmother (from her father's side, now deceased) made this. The soft, comforting cotton interesting quilt squares always intrigued her.

Spring: some people thought it was a beautiful season, blossoming with joy and love. But to others, its rainy days truly exemplified the suffering of a broken heart.

As Sai made her way down the flight of stairs, she wondered what could be wrong. When her best friend called on the phone, she didn’t sound like herself and evaded all questions regarding her well-being. She only asked to meet Sai somewhere, but when she suggested the First Music Room, she rejected the idea immediately.

Why? It didn't make sense. Sonata spent most of her time after school in the First Music Room as a violinist and always insisted on them meeting there to talk about things: school, work, their interests... and--

"Oh no." Her voice was a whisper as her eyes fell upon her dear friend's lowered head. The handkerchief she saw in her delicate hands was absolutely soaked with tears. Sai approached her carefully and took a seat next to her on the bench behind the water fountain.

Surely, it would rain soon. It was as if the space in the area was too stuffed up that there was no room to breathe, let alone speak. But somehow, the ebony-haired girl managed to mumble. "You know, it was pretty selfish of me... to join the music club."

Sai glanced at her. "Why would you say that? You love music, don't you?"

"I... I admit that. But..." Sonata hesitated. "but I never felt like anything would come from becoming a professional. I gave up on the dream a long time ago. Besides, I could play at home, whenever I had the time. I saw no reason to join."

"So, why did you ever join?"
"Because... he asked me if I would like to. And I just... can't say no to him."

Sai shook her head. She figured out what happened, despite how cryptic Sonata was being. "You told him how you felt, didn't you?"

"He was only interested in my playing!" Sonata cried out. "I was blinded by my feelings that I thought that his request meant more than it really did! How stupid is that of me?"

Her friend only shook her head in protest. "No, it isn't."

"How can you say that?" All of sudden, Sonata was defensive. It certainly wasn't like her. "You've never felt this way before about anyone! I mean, a handful of people have confessed to you before, but you have turned them down!" Sonata was now standing up, pacing as her voice shook. "How could you know what it's like to be on the receiving end? How could you know what it's like to experience unrequited love?"

Sai stared at her sternly. "To tell you the truth, it's not fun being on the giving end either," she spat. "And love is a fickle and crazy thing, Sonata. Don't think that I'm not human because I don't voice how I feel about others so easily."

"... I'm sorry, Sai." Sonata looked away, stunned and ashamed like a puppy that just got hit for doing something bad. "I guess... I'm just so overwhelmed right now."

She only sighed. "It's fine. I've been quite upset at myself for even liking someone right now... but I digress." As soon as she said that, Sai regretted it. "Sometimes our emotions can blind us from seeing what's in front of us for what it is. What can we really do about it, though? It's what makes us human." Sai paused, as she thought about her own feelings--how she must've been in denial all this time about seeing her friend as much more than that, and how afraid she was of ever mentioning it to her. It's one thing for Sonata to know and accept her for being bi, but for her to know... it was out of the question. "In the end, Sonata, we can only try to learn something from the bad, look at the bright side, and move on."

The other girl frowned. "Then what's the bright side of this whole mess then?"

"Well... you seem to have so much fun in the club whenever I drop by. And we both made some great friends there, haven't we?"

A timid smile tugged on Sonata's lips, as she thought of all the great things that happened to her because of the experience. "Yeah... I wouldn't have met such talented and interesting people if it weren't for the club. And I wouldn't have been able to ever to play such wonderful pieces or gotten much better at the violin than I am now." And as quickly as the smile came, it disappeared, leaving a frown in its wake. "But Shinichi-sempai will still be there--"

"Eh, Shinichi-sempai can go jump into a river for all I care," Sai retorted, casually waving her hand as if swatting away an insect. "If he can't see you for the wonderful young woman you are, it's his loss."

"But still..." Sonata gazed up at the sky, imagining him in her mind. "He's so kind, and handsome... and the way he plays the piano! It's just so--" Splash! "Ahh! Sai!"

Erupting in laughter, Sai couldn't put on a straight face to apologize. "I'm so sorry! I couldn't help it!" she struggled through her giggles. She was, after all, so cute when she was mad. "But it looks like getting over him is still going to take a while."

Sonata only rolled her eyes, picked up her bag, and began to walk off. "I guess you're right."

"Hey! Don't be like that, Sonata-chan!" Sai caught up with her and offered her spare, clean towel from swimming. "It's never easy to get over someone, sure enough. I'm sorry that I can't really give you any better advice. But how about we try and do something to get your mind off of him? Like drop by the host club?"

There was something ominous about the pause between the question and the reply. "Sure, Sai." For some odd reason, Sonata had a smirk on her face. "After you tell me about this crush you have."

The first-year groaned. "So, you were paying attention to what I was saying, after all."

"Well, this is the first time you've told me you liked anyone."

Sai was horrified. How was she going to get herself out of this one? Surely, she couldn't tell her--of all people!--who it was. "Oh sure, what better to get your mind off your problems than to listen to someone else's."

"Of course!"

"Heh." Ah, that smile of hers. It always disarmed her. Defeated, Sai put an arm around Sonata and gave her a hug as they began walking to a new destination. "Now that's the Sonata that I know."

Maybe she would tell her, maybe not. It didn't matter right now. Sonata was smiling again, and that was all that mattered to Sai.
