Alrightie, as we all know, directors typically love to try to do crazy things that are hard to pull off...or at least mine does. Last fall we managed to put on Phantom of the Opera in a Northeastern Indiana high school, and it was amazing. I was merely in the chorus, but damn if it wasn't an amazing show. So many people were shocked that we could do it~
((unfortunately, we had to cancel our spring play that year. A lot of people saw Phantom and thought it was really cool, making them want to be a part of something like it, so they tried out for spring. But when they found out that a play took WORK, they bailed. We started with 70+ people to work with, and called it quits with less than 20))
Anyone else ever been part of a show like that? Or had a failure like the stuff in parenthesis?

In the production I'm working on right now, there's something. It's Godspell, and I got cast as Jesus. It's normally an adult show(The high schools use Godspell Jr.), but we got the real script of the broadway production. The cast is really energetic, and I think it's going to be a great show. And, a slight mishap, is that I'm the only guy in the cast, and we still can't find a Judas. So, yeah.

The most amazing show I've managed to pull off was an original sequel to Peter Pan called "Second Star to the Right" that I directed. Absolutely NOTHING went right for the show, and at one point I actually had to commit a federal crime to keep the show going (I won't go into details. sweatdrop ), and we were woefully under-rehearsed. We didn't even manage to get a complete run-through in.
But somehow God was on our side, and the show went off really, really well. Everyone was energetic, knew their lines, and the (small) audience absolutely loved it.
And I didn't get arrested! : D

I stage managed The Apple Tree, if you've heard of it...its actually a pretty awful play, we ended up rewriting most of the script and actually changing the sex of a character, but that wasn't the really crazy part. Its three one act plays, and my director kept switching the order of the acts. EVEN opening night!! all of my scene changing cues were completely off, on top of which as I was telling my crew to switch to "act two" or whatever, no one had any idea which act that was anymore! Yet somehow (I honestly have no idea how) it all worked out, and the show was a roaring success. It still confuses me to this day, but I guess its all good sweatdrop
