Vampirism; The act of having/using tendencies of a vampire, i.e drinking blood.
'Real' vampires don't necessarily regard what they do as strictly vampirism. There is the Sanguinarian, Psy, and Hybrid.
Sanguinarian: A type of vampire that drinks/consumes blood. Though this person may have a 'donor' [or a person that they take blood from, with consent], not every one of them do. Some buy blood from a butcher.
Psy: A type of vampire that feeds from a persons psychic energy/force. It has been reported that these energy donors get very tired, i.e feeling 'trained'.
Hybrid: A type of vampire that is both Sang/Psy. When blood is not readily available, many Hybrid's take Psych energy from others in order to put off their hunger. This usually is only a temporary effect.
Keep in mind that some people consider all factions of the Vampires to be included in the Otherkin groups, however, this is not always the case.
Many 'vampires' follow what is called the Black Veil, basically the vampire's code of law, or their 10 Commandments [though, if I'm remembering correctly, there is 13]. The Black Veil is not mandatory, and not all vampires follow it. It is simply a set of guidelines written by Council, and most aspects of it pretain of pure common sense.
Yes, I know people who -claim- to be Sang/Psy/Hybrid. And yes, I know quite a bit about them, including Otherkin, so feel free to ask questions.

&&&(VAMPIRES DON'T EXIST)
Again, sorry. That's just my opinion.

Mello-chan o.o Sorry. I'm going to spoil the mood, but... That's a load of crap.I know people are able to drink blood, but that's DISGUSTING. &&&(VAMPIRES DON'T EXIST) Again, sorry. That's just my opinion. You're right, disgusting is just a matter of opinion. Also keep in mind that many of these people are also anemic [lack of iron in the blood. This makes them pale, and often weak if suppliments are not taken, thus making them, in some cases, sensitive to sunlight].
Vampires in the sense of 'immortals that are allergic to garlic, burn in sunlight, hate crusifixs, holy water, sleep in coffins, ect.' do not exsist. This is pure fiction, I believe that was made up from the symptoms viewed in anemia and other illnesses, in which people long ago had no idea what exactly they did to the human body.
Vampires in the sense of 'drinking blood' I believe, do exsist. Though that is only a name. I'm sure people would be more willing to believe that people enjoy the taste of blood had the name 'vampire' not have been applied.

There are three girls at my school who practice a type of spiritual vampirism. Instead of feeding off each other's blood, they feed off each other's energies...it's a very strong sisterhood, even though none of them are related.

I don't really know what to believe. It's all so interesting to me. I live in a town where nothing happens. So when I here there are people like that out there that really believe in that stuff....Wow is all I can say. I'm a firm believer in what I believe in, but to be so dedicated as to actually drink blood...That's amazing in my eyes.

Where did you gain all of that?

OMG I need to check this guild more often. Okay here I go with the answering of questions o.o; : Quote: There are three girls at my school who practice a type of spiritual vampirism. Instead of feeding off each other's blood, they feed off each other's energies...it's a very strong sisterhood, even though none of them are related. As I mentioned earlier, feeding off of a person's energies is called a 'Psionic Vampire'. However, seeing as it's a spiritual practice, it may or may not be considered vampirism. Sisterhoods, covens, ect. do hold such practices and often do not link themselves with vampirism. Psionic vampires actually 'need' the energy to survive, because often their own is very low and without absorbing another's, then they may feel physically and/or mentally weak or ill.Quote: wow where are you from? sense you have met these self proclaimed vampires. I only met one well in michigan all you get is neo nazis, possers and hicks. (no offense if your from the south) Non taken. I was born in Delaware, moved to Pennsylvania, and currently live in Florida. I actually met most of them in a guild here on Gaia, though I know three or four offline. No, I won't tell you the name of the guild, for the member's security, of course. One of my friends actually moved here from Trannsylvania.Quote: wow that seems pretty out there but i can see it- unfortunately i've never met anyone who claims to practice such. lost_in_my_nightmare: you say the sanguinarian consume blood but thats not all they consume is it? because ur body can't seriously have just blood to drink/eat. how often do they consume blood? No, it of course isn't all they consume, though when they haven't had blood, many Sanguinarian claim to actually become physically ill if they eat normal, conventional food. Of course not all of them say this, so it is still debated amongst their community. As far as how often, it varies from person to person. They do whenever it is they feel a craving for it. Whenever they let that hunger go unnchecked for a long period of time, everyone I've met has reported 'vamping out', which is where they go through a sort of withdrawel from not having blood. Sometimes they find themselves to be a bit more violent than usual during this period, so they usually retreat to a place they can be by themselves for a little. Quote: utterly true, I know a couple of people that need to live off blood because they are so low on it. And there are a few that I know...(don't ask if I'm one, cause I won't aswer) that actually like the taste of blood. Plus, like you said, there are those that feed off the energy of other people (which again, don't ask) and should be considered vampires...but really, if they like the taste of blood, or something like that, that doesn't mean that the term 'vampire' should be linked to them *unless they choose to* Plus, i wouldn't think that they would be wiered...let them do what they please ~by the way, you are very knowlagable about these things. Where did you gain all of that? The people I know, various websites, and a guild here on Gaia. Again, I won't reveal the guild for the protection of the guild members. Quote: i have heard about that kind of 'vampires'. i must say i do like the taste of human blood but iv only taste my own blood but i also must say that i find it refreshing when i drink my blood (no i dont cut my self) i just find small wounds and reopen them and lick the blood up... yes im also pale and i guess i have ok size cainines (how ever u spell it) whatever this is just who i am That, depending on who you are, who you talk to, and what you believe, would be considered autovampirism, and the act of consuming ones own blood. Autovampirism, though, is reported to actually drain the 'vampire' of their energy, giving them the need to consume twice as much to get it back. However, apparently autovampirism works as a temporary sedative to their 'hunger' when there isn't any place they can get what they need.ALRIGHT finally, replied to everyone.
