She had only had a light amount of rest before pressing on, absolutely determined to find this little wayward misaligned horrid Nightmare that she called her son. She must have wandered halfway across the land by now. His scent was faint here and there, but nothing recent...
Hale'oki stopped, suddenly smacking a paw on the ground in frustration. "Damn it, brat!" She growled, "Where the hell are you?"
She paced onwards, soon crossing into Moutain territory, heading up the steep incline. Memories of first finding Zephyrizon around here began to surface, and Hale sighed, grinning, remembering the small creature when he was nothing more than an innocent curious bumbling clumsy hatchling. Those days were gone now, but the memories always managed to make her smile. The smile faded shortly after as she thought of the day she had told him the truth about their kind, about their curse...
That had been the beginning turning point in all of this mess...
A soft sigh escaped her, and she shook her head, pressing on. It just did not do to dwell on the past, and what she could not change. She knew how to let things go. Unfortunately, Zephyrizon was still a young adult and a grudge-holder. Whether that was a function of his species, or just himself, Hale didn't know.
She soon found his scent after reaching one of the lower plateaus, and practically ran across the open area, tongue flailing out of her mouth every few seconds.
"Zephyr!!" She called out to him. Meanwhile, Zephyrizon had been chewing on rabbits he had hunted. They were most delicious to eat, and he very much enjoyed doing so. He was knocked out of his thoughtful daze as he heard his mother's voice. He was full of food right now, and content, and so he was curious as he heard her approach, and then 'saw' her aura in his aura-field radius.
He rose to his feet, tilting his head at her. When she was near, he grinned and bumped his head against her, loudly purring.
"Hello there, mother." He said, friendly. "Why the rush? Where have you been? Man, it's been a while since I last saw you, how are you doing these days?"Hale rubbed herself up against Zephyrizon, purring. She was so happy he was in a good mood, and just happy to have found him again.
"I'm doing alright," She replied. "Don't worry about me, where the hell have YOU been? Oh, who cares, just thank the gods above that you're still safe.""Mom..." Zephyr chuckled, pressing himself up against her. He stopped for a moment as he smelled something foreign on her fur. "Really, where the hell have you been?" He said, now sounding genuinely curious. Where had he smelled that scent before? Was somebody else in trouble?"You need to come with me," Hale said, her voice stating it as if it were an order, or a direction. "Just... come with me. You will follow my lead. Come now, we must move quickly to reach our destination in a timely manner.""But... where are we going?”Hale nipped his ear, a commanding alpha-like gesture. "I said follow!!" She growled.Zephyrizon followed. He knew better than to argue with his mother when she was in a bad mood. He was a lot bigger and stronger than her now, and he could more than easily overpower her in a fight, but sometimes, when she was angry, she was downright scary. Besides, she was his mother, no matter what happened. He loved her, and he needed to respect her. She was one of the very few creatures he still DID respect...Hale and Zephyrizon walked back across Kitsusagi country without another word exchanged. They walked back for well over an hour, through open plains, forest, underbrush, dead scrub area... Zephyrizon was beginning to get bored. How much longer must they walk? Some time later, Hale was back in the area of the land where she had first met Adjo. She began to walk through the forest area, heading for the area where his family lived. She was hesitant now as she began to debate whether this was such a good idea at all... “Mom... where are you leading me...?” Zephyrizon's voice was low and suspicious now. For a start, Hale was slowing down, and he could sense her worry and concern. He could 'see' several foreign glowing auras in his field-radius also, but they were distant and blurry. He could not make out their proper shapes, but their colours were new to him. He stopped suddenly, a low growl sounding out of his maw.
“You... what are you planning, mom.” He said warningly. “Please, I've been following you all this time, just damn answer me.” “You'll find out soon enough, my dear son...” Hale replied, quietly. She slowly walked out into the open beyond the forest, and flicked her tongue into the air. She could definitely smell somebody now. She made a high-pitched chirping call in order to attract attention, and then waited. Either something very good, or something very very BAD was about to happen...Zephyrizon was growling now, impatient, angry, and agitated. The auras in his field-radius made him nervous, he hated the unknown. He sat on his hinds and waited to see what would happen. His mother obviously brought him here for a reason, and he would soon find out.

Around Moochi's house, the bachlors were out and about, rough housing in the large field off near the side of the house where the laundry was normally hung by the two leggers or their human. But as soon as they paused their wrestling match, it was high time to start in on teasing and they all focussed in on Hanzi since he let it slip that he now had a girlfriend!
Pika, Balen and Adjo were trotting around him, making teasing jeers at him, "Ohhhh Hanzi, you're so big and strong!!! Hold me!!" Pika said in a bad imitation of a female voice, wrapping his arms around himself and making kissing faces at the blushing, winged Kitsu.
"Hey Hanzi, does she call you her Hani-honey!!!" Adjo also teased, nudging his friend and getting a nudge back. "Awww, come on you guys!!" the parrot hybrid groaned, knowing this would happen as soon as his friends found out about his new relationship.
The sound of flapping wings coming their way caused them all to look up to see Lucia coming their way, an annoyed look on her face, "Leave him alone you three!! I think it's wonderful Hanzi is finally settling down, and I think you are all just jealous!" she quipped, landing in the midst of the group as they moved aside to make room for her, sitting herself next to Adjo.
"Come on Lucia, you are only saying that because you have you finally have your own boyfriend! Which I might add, you two were suspiciously absent when Ginny brought her eggs to show us the other day!" he said, waggling his eyebrows up and down at her.
Lucia huffed and folded her arms in front of her chest, "Hmph! Well at least I have a boyfriend! Can you three say the same!!" she said.
Adjo let out a bark of a laugh, "I would hope not!!!" and this caused all five of them to laugh together.

Hale grinned as she heard the flurry of activity ahead. It had first been overwhelming to hear so many Kitsusagi socialize and interact like this, but it was always nice to hear. She had to admit, she had missed hearing it, and was glad to be back.
"And this is where I have taken you," She began to explain to Zephyrizon. "New friends. You need to learn tha---"
"Friends??" Zephyrizon spat out in disbelief, quite interrupting her. He was now 'staring' right at one of the lighter coloured auras that seemed to glow like neon in his senses. He noticed then that the aura had wings... "You call these friends? Are you insane, mother?! You have brought us into the heart of Normal and Angelic territory! Run before they charge us! Run before they pick up their rocks and stone us! Get back, I'll fend them off!"
Zephyrizon opened his maw, bearing his teeth. He raised his tails and his Nightmarish back-spines high, adopting an aggressive attack pose. Then, he made a loud roar in an attempt to tell all nearby Kitsusagi that he was a large aggressive dominant male, and very angry. The sound resonated and echoed through the area, and he scraped his paws in the dirt, lowering his head, bearing his horns.
"Don't be an idiot!!" Hale hissed back at him. "You're as bad as the Kitsusagi that attacked you! You're making a judgement before you even get to know them!"
"Shut up, mother!" Zeph rowled, snapping his teeth in her direction. "Now get back and let me handle this!" He did not charge, but he remained where he was, looking like he was not about to move anywhere. He lowered his head again, and then shook it, as if to show off the blood-coloured tips of his horns. He was pretty sure he was making a good threatening display.

All five jumped up when they heard the roar, but they just turned their heads toward where it came from. But they did not move from their spot, Adjo and Charna having told everyone that Hale would be back with her surragote son soon and that he might get off on the wrong foot. Instead Lucia smiled and nodded her head, "Hello again Hale! Is that your son that Charna and Adjo told us about?" she called out.
Charna, having heard the roar, slinked out of the barnyard and made her way towards the group. She wouldn't attack, not unless he attacked first. But she did smile when the group went right back teasing Hanzi, Lucia scolding them to cut it out, like a big sister scolding her brothers.
The door to the barn opened wider and Mami silently slunk her way out, all the loud noises causing her to wake up. She made her way to Charna and she yawned, rubbing at her face with her paw and leaning against the female Nitemare, purring happily when she started grooming at her ears for her.

"Well, that sucked..." Zephyrizon muttered. They werent running away in fear after he roared. What was he doing wrong? The male Nightmare made another loud hiss, and sat on his hinds to think. It usually scared off the other Kitsusagi he had roared at...
Hale made a loud friendly quick chirping noise to Lucia and nodded her head, grinning.
"Alas, this is the bonebrain himself, in the flesh." She shook her head. "He's under the impression that he's above us all for some reason. I certainly didn't put those thoughts into his head." She walked up beside her ashen grey Nightmare charge, and lightly whacked his hind leg with a paw.
She was immediately rewarded with a loud angry warning hiss, and Zephyr snapped his jaws at her again.
"You're insane... you're damn insane!" He growled, his tails lashing at his hinds. "You.. you're a traitor! You brought me here to set me up, didn't you?! This is an ambush or something, isn't it..." He turned his head back towards the winged one, and snarled.
He soon saw the others, and one that looked like it had more auras inside of it. "Heh," He said, tilting his head, amused. "Did that one eat some Kits or something?"
As he saw the other Kitsusagi move in closer, he backed up a few steps, and put his head down again, once more bearing the flats of his horns. If they came too close, he would certainly let them know about it.

Charna growled as she stepped away from Mami, licking her ear in reassurance, "Listen here you little fool, Hale'oki brought you here, but that doesn't mean I won't take you out. No one is above anyone, least of a little dirt grubber like you. You don't know the meaning of being a true Nitemare or even WHY we have this curse. I dare you to attack to attack anyone here, and then you will know why Nitemares are feared after I am through with you." she growled.
Adjo came over and nudged his mother, "Mother calm down, no one is going to hurt anyone here." he said in a calm voice, nibbling on her horn to get her to calm down, purring along with her.

"Dirt grubber...?" Zephyrizon tilted his head, turning his attention towards the female's voice, scowling as he focussed on her aura and nothing else. Odd, she was shaped like a Nightmare, like himself and Hale. And there was another nearby her that was the same. He didn't understand. Why was she angry with him?
"Dirt grubber?" He said again, his voice echoing the disbelief he was feeling right now. "Dirt grubber?!" He puffed out his fluffy grey chest and made a loud warning rumble. "I know what being a Nightmare means, what the hell makes you think I don't!? Having been one my entire existance, I think that means I know SOMEthing... I know exactly why we have this curse too, so don't try and give me a history lesson!"
"Oh no..." Hale sighed, moving in to nudge Zephy in the side. "Calm down, my son..."
She was promptly pushed aside as Zephyrizon moved forwards, head high, horn tips pointed forward now.
"What do you know anyway? Of course some are above others - otherwise we would have no place in the world. There's a high point, and a low point. A hierachy. A balance of order, and a food chain. We eat the rabbits, we are higher than them. And we do not go socializing with the idiot Normal Kitsusagi, for they are the ones that brought on our curse in the first place!" He snapped at the air, and made a loud growling noise, teeth bared. "Why are you allowing yourself to be among the very species that condemns us all to die? What madness is this, anyway?!"
He growled, waving a paw back in Hale'oki's direction. "And now you want to corrupt my mother?" He snorted. "You want to attack me? You'd be just like anyone else... go ahead, I welcome it."

"Tell me something you idiot, who has ever attacked you?! Who has ever said they were above you?! You tell me, why exactly do we have this curse on us? Tell me, a Nitemare, far older then you, who has experienced things alot worse then you, a brat, could ever understand, you tell me our history. Do you honestly think the gods will have mercy on you because you whine about how we have no place, how we cannot see, how the Normals torture us. I would gladly love to meet a Normal that would torture us, but I have yet to meet one, just one.
You are lower then dirt to because you say our place is above everyone else. You have no place because you have not found it. This is my place, with my FAMILY, who loves me. Your place would be with your mother, who loved you since you were an egg, but you throw that in her face and threaten her with your horns like an ignorant fool. If anything, you deserve the curse, because of your insolent whining of how life is so hard for you." she growled, her hackles raised, stepping closer and closer to the male, her back spines getting rigid.

"I'll tell you who has attacked me!" He snarled back in response. "At least half a dozen idiot Normals, that's who! If I my jaw was strong enough to crush their paws so they couldn't throw rocks or pull my tails any more, I would've gladly done so." He made a loud aggitated snort. "And then there was a snobbish one who thought he was above me. He ridiculed me, called me stupid, and electrocuted me - wasn't that just great fun."
He scowled, tails swishing behind him now in a very aggitated manner. His tone was not so much angry now, just exceedingly bitter, and frustrated, like somebody weaker who had lost to a bully.
"Do you even know what it's like to be hated for what you are? Look, its an angry Nightmare, let's pull its tails and make it mad because we have nothing else better to do." Another angry rowl. "If they're so equal to us, then why can't they just respect our same desire to be left alone? All I ever wanted was to be left alone."
Hale sighed, and slowly moved up behind her son. She nudged him in the side with her snout, bumping him slightly. This time she was not pushed away.
Zephyrizon could only make an angry snort at Charna's next statement.
"You don't deserve the curse, I don't deserve the curse, neither does that one there," He waved a paw to Adjo, "And most of all, neither does mother! Yet the stupid all-powerful gods want to punish us because of some stupid ancestory!? Where the hell is the lesson in that - you tell me!!"
He backed up, moving away, his tails swishing. He moved over to a nearby tree and whacked it hard with a clawed paw, taking his anger out on it.
"It's just... stupid senseless garbage..."

"It may seem like stupid, senseless garbage, but what will you change with your endless whining. What will you change with your need to hurt those that wish you no harm. Do you think it will help the next generation? Do you think the gods would take pity on any children you have and give them their sight? They would allow the curse to keep going and going, all because of YOUR anger and hate.
But my son.....perhaps my son's own future would be the one to break the curse. Because I know he is 'seeing' what the gods have wanted us to finally 'see' even though it took us many years. That there is no one above anyone, that one day, we could go back to the peace we had before the curse were placed on those that wished harm to those that cared for them.
So you can whine and cry about those that pulled on your tails and threw rocks at you and you can keep on never getting over and never trying to do better with your life and trying to make things possible for future generations. You can keep wallowing in the past, because that is what it is. The past. It cannot be changed and you will live a miserable life because you could not look to the future and 'see' what could be." she said, sitting down and nuzzling at the top of Adjo's head when he ducked it under chin. Lucia padded over and gently nuzzled against Charna as well, smiling and closing her eyes, purring lightly, pushing her own calming aura around them.

"I certainly didn't start out hostile," Zephyrizon loudly growled. "Hell, I didn't even ask to be born. Nor did I ask to be harassed and bothered either - what kind of sadistic freak would ask for those things?" He shook his head. "For the record, I never actively seeked out to hurt anyone that was not a threat."
"You know what would help the next generation?" He grunted. "Going back to that accursed shrine of the gods, and... well..." He shook his head, not being able to think of anything more for now. What Charna was saying was truth. he couldn't dispute that. He had thought about going to the shrine, but what would he do then? Demand his sight?
"The gods would refuse to listen."
It didn't make him any less angry, however. He flexed his claws and took another swipe at the tree again. It was pointless to whine, sure. He was powerless to change his situation. But it didnt stop him feeling angry about it.
Hale just sat quietly and listened. She hoped this was doing some good...

"Of course they would refuse to listen to you, I can hardly stand to listen to you! Have you even tried listening to yourself?! If you went to that shrine, they would ignore you or even worse....put an even worse curse on you. Do you think they would listen to a Nitemare so full of anger and so full of hate, because that is exactly the reason they cursed the few Normals that went to the shrine.
I believe the gods want to take the curse off us, but not when so many are like you, and so the curse will keep going, through every generation. No one asked to be born, and I especially didn't like my lonely years out in the wild. But if you really want the curse taken off, at least for any children in the future, you need to let go of the past, because that is what it is, the past." she said, going to sit behind the male.

Zephyr flattened his ears against his skull in response to Charna's words, only making a soft tuttering noise in response. It was halfway between a rowl and a whine. He felt utterly lousy now, like he was being broken down, and this female certainly wasn't making things any better for him. She was speaking truth, but he certainly didn't like hearing it. Disputing it would be dumb, though.
He lowered his head and began to score a hole in the tree in front of him with his left sharp horn-point. It was all he could think of to do in his awkwardness. A sad sigh escaped his nostrils and he shook his head.
"I never attempted to carry the past into the future." He said finally. "It's the right here right now that keeps bothering me..."

"Then let those who love you help you. You're mother, all she wishes is for you to be happy, but I know it breaks her heart to see you like this, because mine would break if my son turned out like this. I am not saying stay here, even though you would be welcome from my family, but let her help you as best she can. Love from a family, no matter who or what is in it, is something that....well, I can't really put into words. But it gave my life meaning." she said, laying herself down.

Another sad sigh escaped the ashen-grey Nightmare. If his anger wasn't deflated before, it certainly was now.
"Well, family was never an issue," He began. "Hale... mother has always been there, and is the only family I have ever known. Not even my real parents stuck around - they abandoned my egg on that mountain. It would be the pinnacle of idiocy to throw that away." He raised his head again, but refused to turn around and face the female behind him for the time being. "I just..."
He flexed his claws again, then took another harsh swipe at the tree bark.
"How the hell are you supposed to deal with the Normals anyway then, when they're in your face and annoying you?" He said suddenly, sharply. "Some don't respect you - you obviously know that. And they will bother you." He quickly paused. "The ones outside of your family, I mean. There are Kitsusagi who exist merely to make other's lives hell. So what the hell am I supposed to do? Just sit there and just take it?"
