Is anyone going to get a tattoo from the new store?

I'm not, I don't have one IRL and I prolly never will.

But if anyone needs ink, I have a ton of it.

I might get one on my avi, but I'd never get one IRL. I can change my avi as I wish, I can't do that with my own skin. My skin is not a canvas, I have other creative outlets such as drawing.

Isn't judaism against tattoos? I heard that getting one meant that you cant be burried in Israel I think. I never looked into it, but I really should. My internets down, I'm on a friends computer. ;-;

Hmmm, how much gold do you want for 1?

xd No way. First off, I find them rather ugly, no offense. In reality, not a chance. I hate needles, it's against Judaism, I probably would make a stupid choice of something I'll hate later- you name it.

Depends on what color you want.

Oh and I've been selling on the market place... I made 5000 g in like 20 minutes selling ink.

But I have some left over.

I also have some premade bouquets I'm trying to get rid of.

And... lots of flowers that no one wants.

I want the basic colors, those that you could get in the daily chance.

I'm not sure tattooing is against Jewish law as set forth in the Torah. The Torah clearly states, "You shall not make a mark in your flesh in remembrance of the dead. That's pretty clear to me, anyway. So, Torahly speaking, getting a tattoo for the sake of fun, decoration, or in honor of something other than the dead -- such as one's nation, one's religion (theoretically), one's spouse or child who is alive -- should be permitted.

However, Talmudically all tattooing, piercing, and (some say) even shaving are forbidden. Why? Because the body is a vessel for the soul, and personally designed, formed, and fashioned by Hashem. It's considered arrogant to believe that one can improve on Hashem's work, and so we avoid it for that reason.

I still shave my legs and under-arms, though, and yes, I would get braces for my teeth if I could afford orthodonture at this point. If I had a cleft palate, I would have it corrected. If I was missing a leg, I would get a prosthetic, and no one would argue that it was against Jewish law, because there's clearly some grey area in there.

But! The Gaian avatar was not made in Hashem's image. It was made in our own imaginations, and it may or may not represent the 'real' you. So if you think a tattoo (which isn't even permanent!) is cool, hey, get one. I plan to get several, here on Gaia. It's not making a mark in the flesh at all, it's making a mark in pixels, which should be just fine.

It's interesting that you say that, because I was born with a cleft palate. Bilateral. I still haven't gotten braces, but it will happen one day, I hope. It's annoying, but I've gotten used to it.

At the same time, I also plan on getting a tattoo too. I don't want to show it off to anyone, because it's between me and myself. It will be hidden at all times. And at least it will mean something. Not just butterflies and roses.

sweatdrop wow I'd so never stop shaving my legs or underarms lol.

I might get a tatoo for my avi.
I really would love to get a tatto, I was planning on getting a really cool one for my zodiac stuff, but once I became serious of converting to judaism I decided not to. I still want one, but I choose not to do it.

AMEN! I may be a child of the earth, but having a clean shave is one of the better feelings in the world. Also, there is less uncomfort. 3nodding

I think that the tatoos are pretty cool, seeing as I already have 3. I didn't know that tatoos were against Judaism though. Do any of the Jewish people here have tatoos?

I think most of the tats are ugly, and none of my avi outfits show them off anyhow. I still went ahead and got some of them just for the heck of it, to use up all my inadvertently-hoarded inks.. I do have to admit I like the "Devil Wings" tattoo.

I'd never get one IRL, has nothing to do with Judaism and everything to do with the fact that I can't imagine anything I'd want on my body for the rest of my life - I have one set of ear piercings that I got as a child and almost never wear earrings in, but that's about it.

Divash put it perfectly, though: "The Gaian avatar was not made in Hashem's image." I think we had a discussion before about tznius and avatars, didn't we? lol

I've never heard that shaving of the legs and armpits for women is forbidden by any source, though. o_o In fact, around here it's more or less mandatory before you dip in the mikveh for women to shave those areas unless they just don't do it, ever.
