Welcome to the Roleplaying Forums of the PokeLAB Guild!

Before you RP, there are 3 points that are important to understand:

1. The pokemon you own are unwelcome in the pokemon world. They are a secret! Trainers who own them should be trying to hide them. When you get your pokemon, you're told that they are the prototypes for a new breed of pet, a luxury item. This isn't actually the truth, but this is what everyone is told.

2. When a trainer receives a pokemon, they also receive a key to a double room in the mansion, to share with their pokemon. So, you can assume that you have a place to live there.

3. To help hide them but also give them somewhere nice to live and battle, the pokemon can explore the labs and the mansion.

4. You do not need to RP as your Gaia avatar, you may make up a trainer persona. Also, you do not need a trainer, you may RP a pokemon on its own.

There are a few rules and suggestions for our RP:

1.Follow Gaia TOS and keep talk PG-13. This is a given. sweatdrop

2. No god-moding/playing. In other words, keep the power of your characters in check. Pokemon may seem amazingly powerful sometimes, but keep it realistic.

3. Use proper grammar to the best of your ability. We all make mistakes, but no chatspeak or all caps/undercase, please.

4. Limit "purple prose". This is overly "flowery" and unrealistic prose. "Orbs" for eyes, and all of that. Jo Beverly explained it well when she wrote,
Quote:
Physical description only needs to be done once or twice. Any further reference should be indirect. Having told us that the hero has long ebony hair, I don't want it mentioned again, thanks. For me it definitely comes into the purple prose category to not only be constantly repeating physical characteristics, but also using the same flowery phrases that we probably shouldn't have used in the first place!"

"Purple prose" isn't always bad-- it can be good! The bottom line, though, is to limit it.

5. No controlling other characters. The only characters you control are your own! This is most important in battle. You may not choose what hits another character and what doesn't.

For example, you could not post:

Quote:
Chavi smacks Dai with a fish and he DIES.

But you COULD post,

Quote:
Chavi smacks Dai with a fish, hoping that he dies.

This doesn't force Dai's hand, and allows him to dodge or be hit, depending on the skill level of his character.

A more formal battle system might be set up, but for now, it is on your honor to be fair in your attacking and dodging. The staff suggests you PM the other RPers beforehand, to decide who will win and lose the battle.

6.Listen to the Staff. If you have any issues, please PM us. Thank you!
