Outside the temple's shadow, where normally everything was swathed in gold sunlight at this time, everything was now gray and muted. The clouds above were dark and there was a signal of coming thunder on the horizon of the vast desert. It was still exceedingly hot, however, and the air seemed to lightly choke everything with its moist matter that clung to fur, grass, sand, and stone.

To try to stave away the binding heat, one freckled cream maluess moved to the large fountain in hopes that its usually cool and clear waters would help her. ...Except that even the water was warm today, and its clearity didn't look so...pristine any more.

The female muttered to herself in annoyance and turned to leave, but quickly thought otherwise and just turned right around again and flopped onto the warm muggy stone.

This weather most certainly did not suit the young maluess as she pawed her way around the temple. The frown that graced her muzzle could not be helped, and she huffed softly when she found as well that the fountain was quite warm today and offered no cool relief. For a few moments she didn't acknowledge the other female as she dipped her paws in the warm water testingly. Oh, dear, if anything the water just made the humidity twice as unbearable. She supposed those who worshipped any form of heat were having a hayday with this nonsense.

Turning her head toward the sound of breathing, her bright eyes caught sight of the cream-hued malu and her lips spread in a sarcastic, though kind, smile, "Well, this weather simply won't do, now will it? It's dreadful." Not the best way to start a conversation, but then didn't almost everyone use weather as small talk?

Said cream-hued malu half-heartedly flicked an ear before she realized that someone was talking to her. A little surprised, the female lifted her head from her forepaws and canted it to the side in a lazy fashion. She wasn't exactly sure on how to reply to the minty stranger.

"It is." The lame reply came after a few moments of silent thinking and staring. The freckled female knew she was probably coming off as a dense idiot, but talking to others in general had never been her best skill.

Her pink eyes widened slightly as her brows arched and she approached the stranger. The freckled cream coat was quite pretty and her smile softened as she came close enough to study the other maluess. She was young; an adult, yes, but younger than Minze. Letting her hind legs fold beneath her, she looked away toward the dark clouds. Her head moved with the direction of her eyes, taking in every invisible corner of the visible horizon with dismay. "Oh, what I wouldn't do for a bit of a cool breeze."

When none seemed obliging enough to grace them, she sighed and looked at the other once again. Deciding it was rude to sit longer without introductions, she smiled and inclined her head, "I'm Minze."

As the other malu looked out and away towards the gray and choked horizon, the young female took a second to fully inspect the new comer. She noted, with silent satisfaction, the other's colorful pelt and liked very much so how the hues seemed to give a rather "cheerful" look... however past experiences caused the young malu to not voice these opinions outwardly, and so she kept quiet until the other malu gave a name.

"I am Enoa,"
she replied softly and adverted her gaze towards Minze's rosy lanterns. "It is nice to meet you."

She didn't lay out, preferring not to subject her belly to the same harsh heat her rear was being exposed to even in a seated position. How this other maluess could stand such temperatures against such a tender part of her body, Minze could hardly understand, but she didn't grudge her any eccentrics. Afterall, many thought poorly of Minze for the goddess she had chosen to worship, though they were quick with their unkind judgements. She blew her hair out of her face, making a grim expression once again at the clouds.

It was hard not to grin for Minze usually anyways, but this young one made her feel comfortable. Fluttering her cherub wings, she nodded, "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Enoa. Are you finding some way to entertain yourself in this unbearable humidity? It seems not even the fountain is our friend today."

Enoa turned her head towards the fountain and its spewing warm water. Subconsciously she wrinkled her nose at it in unsaid annoyance before glancing back at Minze. "I am affraid not," she replied and crossed her fore paws.

"Have you?"

The maluess chuckled as her new companion pulled such a sour face, but she did not voice a disagreement. Indeed, the fountain seemed as if it were a volcano spewing lava today rather then it's usual light hearted and gay scenic presentation. Tilting her head to one side as she looked at the fountain for herself, she looked away when the other female spoke once again, this time asking a question. Valid. Her pink eyes widened briefly before she winked one, smiling innocently at the cream coated malu, "Of course! I've found myself a prospect for a few friend, have I not?"

The maluess' reply actually greatly surprised Enoa. She tilted her head to the side and stared at Minze for a moment, searching the other one's features to perhaps make sure that she had heard her correctly and had properly understood.

When the other didn't suddenly burst out saying "JUST KIDDING", Enoa righted her head and gave a sheepish little laugh. "I hope so," she said, a rare smile crossing her maw. She hadn't had the best luck with friends, but she hoped that that might change.

It was fairly easy to be friends with Minze. After all, she didn't expect much more then a kind word now and again. She was mostly an independent malu, though she relied on occasional conversations with kind souls whenever she found herself in the temple again. She was a roamer, but nevertheless, she was loyal and dedicated to those she called friends.

She didn't know that the smile was rare, though it was pretty and she returned the expression readily. Fluttering her wings, she shrugged, "Typically this is when I'd offer a dip in the fountain or a walk through the gardens to pass the time, but today is not the day for that, unfortunately." Maneuvering so that she was resting with her belly against the stone, wincing at the heat until her skin adjusted, she lay one forepaw over the other before settling on one side.
