My favorite genre. ^^
If you haven't already noticed, I have a pretty warped personality. I like movies where lots and lots of people die. The more creative the method of killing, the better. Plot optional.
Right now, my favorite movie is "Reincarnation," a J-horror by Takashi Shimizu, (the guy behind Ju-on, Ju-on 2, The Grudge, The Grudge 2, and so on...)
Of course, I can't discount Freddy Kreuger. I love him. He's so cute. heart And the Friday the 13th movies are just great. No plot. All death.
So what's your favorite scary movie? 3nodding

Nothing has impressed me yet.
I'm usually a gore-scaredy-cat, but, to be honest, I don't get scared of entire movies.
And I usually like what scares me. =)
But there are books...

Reincarnation is goood. 3nodding My favorite J-horror is either The Red Shoes, or Infection. The last really awesome horror movie I saw was 28 Weeks Later. I highly reccommend it. 3nodding

I highly reccommend it. 3nodding Really? Because 28 Days Later didn't impress me. >.< But this last one has been getting a ton of really good reviews, so I might have to see it for curiosity's sake. The one J-horror I really, REALLY wanna is Audition. That looks SOOO good but everywhere I've seen it sells it too expensive. T _ T

But there are books... Really? I don't get scared by books... but I have read some creepy things. FATE magazine is a riot, but sometimes it has the occasional ghost story. heart

Yeah, i know, i didn't really like the first one either, but the second one is SOOO much better. It's pretty much the best zombie movie ever made, imo. I keep hearing about Audition, but i've never seen it, not even on a shelf somewhere. Of course, i haven't exactly been looking. I need to look for it, i'm dying for a new J-horror.

I've seen in at Anime Club out here... it's just somewhere along the lines of $40. sweatdrop

1408 is kinda dissappointing. It's ok, but it's not as great as it looks.

Oh goooddddd~ Audition makes me sick about ten minutes into the movie. gonk It's not particularly gorey or too scary, but it's so psychologically heavy, it makes me physically sick. Even the director (Takashi Miike, one of the best directors ever), said that if you can't sit through the whole thing, take it off and watch the rest later.
Miike-san has also done a Masters of Horror movie called Imprint. LISTENING to it made me sick, it's the only movie that's ever made my sister cringe from the gore, since parts of it are -so- realistic looking.
If you're into gorey movies, catch the Thai movies Art of the Devil, and Art of the Devil II. AOTDII made me throw up, literally, but it also might have to do with the fact that I was sick when I sat through it. Well, it was much, much worse than the first one.
Another good one is the Korean movie Bloody Reunion. You wanna see creative death? xd There you go.
Uhmmm... My sister and I pretty much thrive on horror/slasher movies, we've got a nice collection going for us. xd
Seen Hostel? Saw 1, 2, or 3? Touristas? Nothing compared to the ones listed above. xd
If you're into ghost movies, I'd reccommend One Missed Call (the first which was also directed by Takashi Miike), or One Missed Call 2. Phone is a good one, too, a Korean movie. Shibuya Kaidan (the Locker) 1 & 2 come together on the same disc, it's a rather low-budget horror movie but is to this day the scariest ghost movie I've seen. Also, a Chinese movie called The Eye 2. Ooh, and the original Pulse (Kairo). Uhhh... and Dark Water (Honogurai mizu no soko kara).
Ab-Normal Beauty is a Chinese movie done by the Pang Brothers, who have also done The Eye 2, and the recent American movie The Messengers. It's a psychological horror movie, though, but has nice twists. :3
The Red Shoes is really good, as is Infection!! <333

rofl
Audition shouldn't be too hard to acquire. I had bought it off eBay for like, $10 but it turned out to be a horrible bootleg, so don't trust eBay! I then pre-ordered the special addition of it in 2006 from Suncoat and didn't pay more than $30 for it. It's well worth it if you're a fan of Takashi Miike. It's a rather slow-paced movie, but it builds the tension well for the final few scenes. <3
Umm, I'm more a gorehound myself rather than into ghost movies. Art of the Devil II is the closest I've been to being satisfied with the plot and amount of gore. Art of the Devil (the original, and harder to find as well as not at all related to the second) is good too. The deaths are pretty interesting. Like Candycane said, Bloody Reunion was pretty good. There's a particular scene in that movie that made me go "WTF?!" xD
Err... Yes, Imprint. There's a scene in that movie that made me have to look away because my fingernails started feeling weird. That's the only time I've looked away during a movie though. rofl
The Saw movies have a nice amount of blood, too. I'm more for Asian horror though. Bunshinsaba was good. That's a Korean movie. Wishing Stairs was pretty spooky.
If you wanna see some clips from Asian horror films in fanvid form, there's one I like that's on YouTube. It's well done and it lists the movies they used, so you can check those out.
I certainly hope we're allowed to post links to YouTube things. ninja
