I was watching deathnote and i noticed that when Misa had the Death Gods' eyes the first time she saw his name. But sadly i can't read Japanese... sweatdrop so i was wondering if that is actually his name above his head or a bunch of random symbols.

They never show his first name, but yes, his last name is (spoiler if your not done with the series or anything) Lawliet.

Ryuuzaki is just a nickname he has the people trying to find Kira call him so because they don't know his name, they can't write him down in the Note Book.

If your trying to say his first name is L or starts with L, then no. Your wrong. Even the author didn't think of giving him a first name.

can anyone read japanese? if you've seen the 2nd movie L writes his name in the death note and shows it in front of the screen but i cant read it . im guessing that might be his name?
