do you like your anime subbed or dubbed?

Personally I prefer dubbed. I'm trying to learn Japanese, but for the time being I like to use my ears to understand what people are saying, not my eyes.

I'd have to say subbed. It's way cooler in the authentic, un-edited-to-fit-the-channel's-rating form. Take Naruto. (Yesh, I AM obsessed with it! ^.^) In the version on Cartoon network, they cut out all the blood and the swearing! The two best parts!!! lolz. But, I have to admit, it IS easier to just listen, and not worry about having to read subtitles... <.<;;

Well, see, I guess that's half the reason I don't watch the Japanese version. I don't mind the reading so much - plus I'm trying to learn Japanese anyway - but around here we're strict on ratings, so I'm not sure... (Funny...I'm stricter on the ratings then my Mom actually is...)

i like it subbed since that way i can hear the original voices (which i find that fit way better the character), learn some japanese and its easier to me to understand the words than the voices so that way there's no chance that i could loss vital information... for example when cartoon network started airing naruto (that was the first channel i saw it) i always watched it every saturday but most of the time i couldnt understand (funny thing that i always watched english cartoons instead of spanish ones even before i started studying english) and i never thought haku was a guy until the start of this year since cartoon network was out of my channel service and they put it again in december, then i watched the new year eve special (like 13 hours of naruto) and i became a naruto fangirl and started googling naruto, watching all the episodes i lost in all that time without watching it and reading fics... lol i think you will all get confused with what i said... but dont worry everybody does since i start writing nonsense when i write too much xD

Paragraph may be choppy, but I think I understood what you were saying just fine. ^^

Mmm...I still haven't fully convinced Dad that Haku is a guy. -_-;

lolz. My brothers/sisters still think Haku is a girl, too! It's because his voice in the dubbed version is sooooo girly! I like the voices in the original version a lot better. Not only Haku... but Rock Lee, and others.

I can't help but laugh at the scene where Haku is first talking to Naruto and Naruto totally flips out when he mentions he's a boy. It's so funny the way they set it up. ^^

I think the voices fit the characters. Just my opinion, but I couldn't see them as the same if anyone else did the voices.

Well, it IS hard to really imagine the characters with the Japanese voices if you don't understand what they're saying. It just sounds like gibberish, and not like the character is speaking. Luckily, I have a pretty good grasp of the Japanese language, and so I find it a little easier. ^.^

i actually prefer both. i've been watching dubbed as long as i could remember and i only watched subbed since last year. i just watch subbed to get ahead of the english version and to see whats going on. even if i saw it in japanese i still like to watch it in english, just to compare the voices and stuff.

they didn't cut out all the blood from Naruto.
I remember that the second manga I picked up was a shonen jump and it was teh one where naruto meets haku and thinks he's a girl.

I think I like both 3nodding . It depends on the anime. Sometimes the voices on the english version are annoying or just not as nice to listen to and vice versa with Japanese. (I like men with deep voices and that is more common in Japanese. heart ) Other times I just don't feel like reading the subtitles. sweatdrop

Yes, it is Icrat smile

Some Animes you can't even watch dubbed because they speak to fast such as Excel Saga. I tryed watching it in english but couldn't understand anything. So I ended up watching it subed and pausing every time some one spoke. It actualy kinda ruined the anime though since it ruins the punch line.

I mostly watch subs because I can download them more then I can donload dubbed. I don't have money to buy anime from the store...
