The Battle System Investigation 0.8Introduction:This investigation has never been done before on Gaia. Truly, to this scale, the amount of research is unparallelled. I have no life, and i love the idea of a battle system. So, i did plenty of research, and made this thread. Hopefully, this will widen your mind to the future, and also maybe uncover secrets about Gaia that you didn't know. Thankyou. Please excuse my spelling!The battle system has been one of the most talked about features on gaia. People have been suggesting weapons for months, and frankly
the admin must be sick of weapon requests. Most people are for it, but some are against it. Some pictures have been released about it, but very few are clear about anything. I Have gathered pictures from all over the place to display here, and I have described them to the best of my ability. If you have any comments, suggestions, or observations of your own, please post. I predict the battle system will come out in late November 2005, along with Gaia beta around that time. Please remember there are features that the admins are keeping secret, and won't tell us until near their release time.27/02/05: Made the thread and posted in a few places. Note: The pitchforks, gauntlets and fishing rods will not be released as weapons.

Weapons/Armor/RPG Clothes - Also with beta and the battle system, there will be items mad for use with battling! The most obvious is

This picture is know as the battle teaser, confirming the battle system's future release. There are several things we can deduce from this picture. It shows a range of weapons, and some new items. we cant identify too much as the avatars are darkened out. We can also deduce that the admin have been hard at work developing the battle system, and that many weapons have already been made. It is reasonable to expect that the better, more elaborate weapons are being kept a secret. This battle teaser is the most improtant image in regards to the battle system. It gives some evidence as to what the drawn pictures may look like as avatatrs, its well known and it proves the admin have made weapons and are testing/programming the battle system.
This picture, displays a house with two avatars in it. There are a host of new items on it, and also weapons (the things im interested in). If you look closely, you can see the female avatar holding 2 swords, they are short and probably compensate attack, for speed and numbr of attacks. They could even be daggers. If you would divert your eyes to the male avatar, he has 1 long-ish sword. To me, this seems like quite a default weapon, or possibly an upgrade or slight variation. Note also the suit of armour in the corner, this could be a normal house ornament or it could be a proper suit of armour to wear during battles. This picture is very improtant, as it was the first picture displaying coloured avatars with weapons, and armour. It also gives evidence towards what kinds of warrior there can be.
If you look at the female avatar above and also look at the battle teaser below, 5th avatar from the right, you will see the avatars are one in the same. Thanks to ragnarok-moogle for noticing this. If you look below the female avatar, you will see the shadow of the male avatar in the picture with the house.
This is the latest and greatest version of the labelled sillhouette diagram. This details the most logical avatar types, judgding by attire and weapons held.
Another detailed guide, showing what possible warriors might be. This picture displays lots of new weapons and items. It shows a jagged dagger of some kind, an alternative spear, a wierd cyan hammer thing, a magical staff (or possibly two) and armour. Some of the weapons seen on this picture explain some of the wierd shapes we can see on the battle teaser, with the blacked out avatars. Very interesting indeed. You can relate quite a few of the drawings with tha blacked out avatars in the battle teaser.
These pics have been found around the site. They detail what these warriors will probably be. You can relate a couple of these to the battle teaser, and show that these drawing have been made a reality.
This picture shows an avatar with a spear. This is the first real weapon seen clearly, and could be avatar art. This picture is not seen on the battle teaser, which means it may very well be clever avatar art.
This is a battle banner, and a variation of what youve seen earlier. Thanks again to healer guy for finding it. This was the original from when Gaia online was called go-gaia. I know this is basically a repeated picture in some senses, (see above) but it displays that the battle system idea has been around for a very long time. It also has drawings illustrated in the battle teaser.
From the art arena - these drawings show armour and a sword. They seem to be knights from the battle teaser.
The following pictures are just drawings that don't seem to be confirmed avatar accesories yet. They still have something to do with the battle system though, so i decided to include them in my investigation.
This is the Gambino Weapon shop. It has on the roof, 2 swords. One looks distinctly western and the other looks like a pirate sword. In the future, we will be able to buy weapons here. Remember this place, as weapons won't be cheap.
These weapons have been on display in barton for a long time. There are standard swords there, and also arrows. Hopefully, the confirms the release of bows and arrows. The swords are of varying sizes and lengths, probably giving them different attributes. Possibly there will be an 'archer' type of avatar?
This picture can be found when you click on forums, its the forum banner. It displays a man with a sword on his back, like Cloud from final fantasy 7. It looks similar to one of the swords found in the Barton store (see above).
The picture above shows medieval armour, and 2 kinds of shield aswell as some kind of medium sized sword. Could we have armour like Leon's? The 2 shields may be variations or upgrades of each other, and give the battle system a defence concious aspect. With this one - i may have gone too far.
