It was a hot, sunny day. Fortunately, it was also a windy day. The sort of day that was perfect for kite flying. Of course, this Numa didn't own a kite, didn't even know what one was, but in her mind she had something even better. Something that would be absolutely perfect for such a summer's day.
As it got late, and the sky turned orange, Graciela emerged from her home with a purple flowered bedsheet. Holding one corner in each paw, she began to run across the the gumdrop meadows, letting the sheet fly out behind her. She kept this up for some time, laughing as the wind blew through her hair, her bracelets clinked, and the sheet whipped and waved with each passing breeze.

Anala was sleeping in the warm late afternoon sun when joyful laughter reached his ears. His head perked up and his blurry eyes searched for the source. The moon on his flank pained him suddenly. His other side was waking too. "What is that?" dark Anala asked aloud. "Laughter. Happy laughter," light Anala answered. A flash of purple caught Anala's gaze. He gasped. Even his other self was at a loss for words. A beautiful female ran without a care through the meadow with a purple bedsheet flowing behind her. Joy radiated from her entire being. Intoxicated by the sight, Anala could do nothing but stare. He couldn't even bring himself to stand up.

Finally exhausted from her run, Graciela slowed to a stop, letting the sheet fall to the grass behind her. It was spread out almost perfectly, and for a moment reminded her of a picnic blanket. Then her stomach growled, and it occurred to her that a picnic might not be such a silly idea after all.
"All right!" she exclaimed, not talking to anyone in particular. "¡Tiempo para un poco de comida!
Before she found food, however, she saw someone she had initially overlooked: red, like the setting sun, and either asleep or dead. Graciela hoped for the former. "¡Hola!" she called, walking over quickly. "¿Está bien?"

Spanish? She spoke spanish? Anala lifted his head from the sweet grass and stared at the female. "I don't understand," he wimpered. Dark Anala laughed loudly in the back of his mind. Anala stood and shook out his flaming red fur. The moon on his flank glowed softly allerting Anala to his other side's awareness. Anala bowed, "Me allmo Anala. E tu?" he stammered hoping he was speaking in spanish, even if it was flawed.

He moved! That meant he had to be alive, didn't it? Overjoyed, Graciela quickened her pace, arriving at the other Numa in a matter of seconds. He seemed okay, if a bit bit nervous. She smiled, hoping to make him feel better. She wasn't anybody to be scared of! In fact, quite the opposite!
When he tried to speak to her, her eyes lit up. He spoke Spanish! Or tried to, at least. "¡Que bueno!" she exclaimed, applauding. "Me llamo Graciela. Pero," she continued, "hablo Ingles- I speak English too, so you don't need to worry. Are you okay, Señor Anala?"

"Bein," Anala replied, "I'm good. Still dazed I guess, but good. Oh, you speak english too!" He gave his tail a slight wag. Standing on four legs, Anala shook himself out and pushed up into a sitting postion. A blue leather book lay open where he had been sitting.
He stared at the female with bright amber eyes. A goofy smile hung on his features. He beckoned the female to sit with him and share each other's company.

Smiling warmly, Graciela nodded. "¡Sí! I speak both- it is lucky, I can speak with more people that way!" While she hadn't met many people who spoke Spanish as she did, she was still hoping. It was her native tongue, after all.
With another nod, she accepted the invitation and settled in next to Anala, leaving her bedsheet a few feet away. "¿Te gusta leer?" she asked, gesturing at the book. "You like to read?"
