BTWF KAYFABE

This post will explain how Gaia, in the world of the BTWF, relates to the rest of the world around us. Read this to understand how you should treat other wrestling companies, your current location, etcetera.

So I was looking around at the profile page on the site the other day, and I noticed that almost everybody in the BTWF's character has a hometown in the real world. Due to the fact that Gaia is not a part of the real world, I decided to create the history of the country and kind of tie it in with the rest of the world today. And thus, the story of Gaia:

Gaia is an island located in the eastern-central Pacific Ocean. It was most likely formed of a giant hotspot. Gaia is approximately eight hundred sixty-eight miles wide (east to west), and four hundred thirty-four miles long (north to south). It has a distinct squat teardrop shape, with a rounded bottom that leads up to a northern tip. The island of Gambino is located thirty miles off the northern coast, and is almost a perfect circle, with an approximate "diameter" of fifty miles. Gaia's coordinates are 131W longitude, and 6 N latitude.

Gaia has a constant tropical climate, and normal temperatures range anywhere from 70 F, to 100 F on the hottest of days. It's constantly humid, and much of the non-settled parts of the island are tropical rain forests. Gaia is thought to have been settled by Polynesian migrants from the Society Islands and Marquesas Islands around 500 A.D., who came from the Samoan Islands, who in turn came from southeast Asia. Gaia was in a constant state of warfare throughout most of its early settling by the Polynesians, with settlements attempting to overtake other settlements and gain control of the island. Eventually, however, a brilliant strategist and leader, Kalani Kappuleo, was able to bring all of the Gaian mainland under his rule, and thus became known as "Great King Kalani", around the year 700 A.D. Gambino island, however, was left alone to flourish by itself until almost 860 A.D., when it was brought under the rule of the Kalani dynasty. The first European to find the island (or at least to report his discovery of it) was one British explorer Captain Anthony Granger, a lesser-known explorer, with Gaia being the only major island he has to his name. Captain Granger landed on the island on July 7, 1777. Of course, Granger referred to it as his "lucky day."

Granger was met with relative friendliness by the natives, and due to the woman who greeted him on the coast of the island who was dressed in natural floral wear, he was reminded of the ancient Greek myth of the goddess Gaia, and thus gave the island that name. Settlers came from many different European countries, but preferred not to get involved with the slowly deteriorating monarchy, instead keeping to themselves and their plantations in the fertile tropical soil. Finally, in 1854, a revolution was held, and the great Kalani dynasty, never having lost its original bloodline in over eleven hundred years, was thrown out of power. After a period of governmental anarchy, a constitutional monarchy was instated, and the current king, Keali'i III, was brought back to serve as the monarchial figurehead for the new government, althought he would have almost no power.

In its place, a new government was formed, which is still kept by the country today. A group of representatives, known as the Diet, is divided into two houses, the House of Representatives, and the House of Councillors, each elected by the people. They are mostly in charge of making and enacting laws, designating prime ministers, ratifying treaties, approving budgets, and proposing amendments to the Gaia constitution (which are then voted upon in a country-wide election). The Diet elects a prime minister, who then appoints his cabinet members (the prime minister is, in essence, the executive leader of the country). The Diet can at any time remove the prime minister and the cabinet from their duties. All proposed laws must be run by the prime minister for his approval, though a 2/3 majority can overrule him in the Diet.

The current prime minister of Gaia is Lanzer Liu. The current king of Gaia is His Majesty King Keoki. Heir to the throne is Prince Ka'imi (in general, the rule for royal successors on Gaia is that the eldest male child becomes the next ruler, however, if there is no male child, then the eldest female child becomes queen).

The capitol city of Gaia is Barton Town, located in almost the exact center of the island. It is also the most heavily populated. Next highest on the population list is Drem, located near the western edge of the island. To the eastern side of the island, located in the middle of a bay, is another island, this one rather small, and made up of a giant rock thrusting itself up out of the water. A town was built upon it, this one dubbed Aekea. Most of it is completely walled in by a giant steel barrier. Finally, Gambino Island is a great tourist attraction, the city actually called Gambino. This is due to the prominent family that got business in the area going, the Gambinos. This family, and the Von Helsons, located in Drem, are the wealthiest of the entire island's population.

Gaia's main economy is from tourism and the growth of tropical fruits such as citrus. Many people have imigrated to the island, but the population of original Polynesians still makes up about 65% of the population.

Gaia applied for membership to the United Nations in 1950, and was brought in in 1951.

Gaia has stayed neutral in all major wars, though there are reports of some supplying to the Allied Nations during WW II.

Gaia > You

Also, because I felt like addressing it here, WWE and all other real life wrestling companies exist in the world of the BTWF. They're all our rivals, in a sense. But because we're based in another country, it makes the WWE kind of a moot point to us. We broadcast throughout Gaia, the U.S., Europe, parts of Asia, and various areas through the Carribean. Currently, we're about as popular as ECW was in its prime, if you want to look at it that way.

Additional Note: Gaia stayed mostly neutral in World War II despite Japan's conquering of most of the Pacific due to a bitchin' blockade.

BTWF ARENAS

These are the places that our shows are located in, with a description of the crowd and arena.

DUREM SUPERDOME

Seats: 32,175
Screen: DDD (Durem Digital Display)
The Crowd: FAVORS HEELS! That's right, we've got a face-hatin', heel-lovin' smark crowd in Durem...

Note: Formerly, the Durem crowd was sometimes taken as a smarky crowd, who appreciated matches above all else. Now that we have Aekea as an arena, this is no longer the case. Treat the Durem crowd exactly as you would the typical mark crowd, only as favoring heels. In other words, they don't care how good a wrestler is. If he's not a face, he sucks.

BARTON ARENA

Seats: 28,750
Screen: The BarTron
Crowd: Typical Marky, Face-Loving Crowd... Though, there is a group of nasty fans in the front row near the corner of the ramp and ringside that loves heels. They're also known as the Brian Blade Fan Club.

GAMBINO HALL

Seats: 5,250
Screen: JGVisions (Note: IT'S NOT THE SUPER SIZED TRONS THAT ARE USED IN BARTON AND DUREM... There's 3 of them on the entrance ramp and 4 above the ring in the old "scoreboard" style...)
Crowd: Blood-thirsty mutants... Seriously, these fans are ultra-hot for violence, and because of the smaller size of Gambino Hall, they're allowed to be much more vocal and intimate with the wrestlers. They're overall just insane ECW Mutant style fans...

AEKEA CIVIC CENTER

Seats: 1,525
Screen: Aekea Windows
Crowd: Aekea fans are workrate whores. They will cheer for anyone who can put on a good technical match, but usually aren't very happy with brawling wrestlers, or those who center themselves on a hardcore style. They could care less for face or heel alignments, and often will ignore insults to themselves as long as they like the wrestler doing the insults. They usually aren't very interested in hardcore matches, but the one thing that pisses them off unlike anything else is seeing a great match get interrupted and have a non-finish, whether it be a time limit draw, disqualification, or run-in. In general, they hate gimmicky wrestlers as well, and tend to like wrestlers that have a no-nonsense attitude more.

Also, please note that the Aekea Civic Center is a relatively small arena, so huge explosions of pyro would likely burn the place down rather than awe the fans. They don't like flashy-flash substance anyway.

GWC

This is the Gaian eWrestling Community HQ.

It's not very active right now, due to guilds going down and such, but things should pick up again in a few weeks. If you want to talk with other e-wrestlers from other guilds and see what's going on in other e-feds, it's a good place to go.
