The Averages For Female Anatomy

Taken from: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=636681

Average v****a Size
3 inches along the posterior wall with a diameter of 0.8 inches, though in stimulated phase it balloons to 3.75-4.1 in long by 2.3-2.5 inches in diameter.

Average Clitoris Length
1 inch, though the part that shows, called the clitoral glans, is 0.20 inches long

Average Hymen Thickness
0.05-0.10 inches (0.125-0.25 cm.).

Average Ovary Size
1.5 inches long by 0.75 inches in breadth by 1 inch thick (3.75 x 2 x 2.5 cm.).

Average n****e Size
0.27 inches (6.79 mm).

Average Areola Size
1.4 inches (35.62 mm).

Average Ovum Size
1/175th of an inch (0.14 mm.), slightly smaller than the period ending this sentence. Interestingly, this is the largest cell in the human body.

Average Duration of Ovum Fertility
The female egg will remain fertile for about 24 to 48 hours.

Average Number of Ova
400,000. Unlike men, who continually replenish his supply of sperm, women have a set amount of ova that's determine at birth. Only 400 are ever released during a woman's lifetime, and their quality deteriorates over time?ample reason why if you plan on conceiving a child, you'd better do it before age 40.

Average Age of Menarche (Onset of Menstruation)
12.5 years. Interestingly, a study in 1962 showed that this age has decreased by four months every decade since 1830.

Average Menstrual Flow
Approximately 50 to 175 cc., or one-quarter to one-half a cup.

Average Menstrual Cycle Duration
28 days.

Average Period Duration
5 days.

Average Age of Menopause
48-49 years

Average Time to Orgasm
Females in Kinsey's studies averaged a little less than 4 minutes to reach orgasm during masturbation, though for intercourse it took anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes.

Average Duration of Orgasm
5-8 seconds. Orgasmic contractions in both sexes occur at intervals of 0.8 seconds

Frequently Asked Question
(Answers from a certified Sex Nurse)

Q. I am a 63-year-old female who has just begun a sexual relationship with a 55-year-old man. I am concerned that my v****a may be out of shape to give him the amount of contact to be satisfying for him. I have started Kegel exercises but is there a surgery that might tighten things up a bit?

A. Kegel exercises, when done regularly, are amazingly successful. Every time you sit on the "john" to pee, stop, start, stop and start. Might take you an hour to pee, but it works. Doing them in the car at every stop light, when doing the dishes, wherever?

I would not even consider surgery. Every time they make an incision, they cut nerves - who wants a numb v****a?

Let's be very honest here, a 55-year-old man will not have the same rigid erections as he had when he was 15, and his erections will wax and wane then come back again. That has absolutely nothing to do with your v****a. It is called age. Sorry about that.

What you can do is make an appointment with your friendly supportive family doctor. Do not be embarrassed to talk about your concerns. Ask for an ESTROGEN cream, applied to your genitals twice a day would help restore your vaginal moisture and make the walls more pliable.

As women age, our estrogen production drops dramatically. The v****a walls thin out, become dry and vulnerable to tears and infections and you produce less lubrication. This ESTROGEN cream will definitely help restore the walls to their younger condition.

Do pick up the book, THE NEW LOVE AND SEX AFTER 60. After you have read it, do talk to your new partner about your concerns. He will understand and in all probability, he will be glad you did because he probably has some concerns of his own.

Q. Sex with my girlfriend is no longer pleasurable. She seems a lot looser. I find myself masturbating a lot more.

A. Has she had a baby? The v****a on a female who has never had a baby does not become sloppy and loose with repetitive sex. It really does not. It is only after the delivery of a baby with big shoulders and a big head and the v****a stretches and never quite goes back to normal again. Have you talked to her about this? I would recommend Kegel exercises for her. If she does those exercises it will help her tighten up. If she is not lubricated it means she is not stimulated and turned on. Get a really good book on sex and go back and learn as much as you possibly can about sex, so learn how to: pleasure your partner, talk to your partner, please your partner and how to bring her to orgasm. Then you can enjoy it more.

Q. I saw a commercial for plus size-sanitary napkins. Is this necessary? Does that mean she has a bigger v****a?

A. I love people who watch commercials and have enough media smarts to say that is the biggest crock I have heard in two years. If a woman is a larger size the uterus may be a little larger but not that much larger. She is not going to have that much menstrual flow and her genitals are not that much bigger. The space between her legs where the sanitary napkin would go is not large enough to drive a train through. It is an advertising ploy. You change your pad every four hours anyway.

Q. I am so tight I cannot fit even a super-slim tampon in my v****a. I also love to masturbate and I want to try internal masturbation but I can't even get one finger in without it hurting. What can I do?

A. It might be a condition called vaginismus (an involuntary spasm of the muscles surrounding the v****a that closes the v****a), but it might be just your youthfulness. Just relax and work on the vaginal opening. Don't try to insert anything completely. Simply try to relax the opening and make progress a little at a time.

Female Fertility

While most woman can still get pregnant the "natural" way (ie, not requiring in-vitro fertilization) through their early 40s, it's not advisable to be having children that late. For one, female fertility drops like a rock after the age of 26-28 (coincidently, the age that the glands and organs of a woman fully mature). A woman is only 20% as fertile after 35 as she is when she is at her fertility peak. Also, the rate of genetic disorders increases dramatically in babies born to women lder that 35. Additionally, the number if miscarriages (likely caused by profound genetic disorders in the fetus) also increase dramatically after 35.

Another fact worth noting is that there is *nothing* a woman can do to improve her fertility long-term. Sure, a woman can take fertility treatments so that more of her viable eggs are released at one time. But eating right, excercising, etc are not going to improve a woman's fertility. The eggs are released like sand in an hour glass - there is no way to stop egg loss. All a woman can do long-term is reduce her fertility (especially though drugs, smoking & alcohol.

There are actually several theories to the quicker menstration phenomenon. The most prominent one is that it is due to better nutrition. Also along these lines, especially in the western world, is over-nutrition. It has been found that most girls begin menstrating when they hit 110 to 115lbs. Given the obesity and sedentary lifestyles of children today, it could be that girls are begining to trick their body into thinking that they are older than they really are because of their body mass.

Another interesting theory is that girls may be menstrating earlier due to environmental exposure to estrogen in everything from plastics to tap water (because municipal water systems have difficulty filtering hormones, such as estrogen, that women on birth control pee out and flush into the toilet).

One piece of supporting evidence is that black girls seem to be menstrating sooner than white girls - even when weight is taken into account. However, black girls are more likely to use hair products that contain estrogen or compounds very similar to estrogen.

Finding Your Correct Bra Size & Fitting

Taken from: http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/sexual_health/girls/bra.html

Why bother with bras?
Bras not only minimize jiggling and shape the appearance of a girl's breasts, they're also helpful from a health standpoint. Wearing the right bra keeps a girl's breasts supported while she's playing a sport and can help prevent injury to breast tissue. A well-fitting bra is also important for a woman's posture, particularly if she has large breasts. A bra that doesn't fit can cause back problems, muscle tension, and even headaches.

Yet 8 out of 10 women wear bras that don't fit.

All About Straps, Snaps, Bands, and Cups
Finding the right bra doesn't have to be an ordeal if you know the basics of bra sizing. There are two parts to a bra's size: the chest size (also called the band size) and the cup size.

The chest, or band, size is the part of the bra that runs across a girl's chest and around her back. The cups are the parts of the bra that hold the breasts. Bras come in many sizes, which are different combinations of the chest sizes (shown as numbers — in the United States, these are 32, 34, 36, etc.) and cup sizes (shown as letters — AA, A, B, C, etc.)

It's important to get both the chest and cup sizes right to ensure a proper fit. Some bra manufacturers are now starting to offer cup options in half sizes in addition to regular cups to help girls get a better fit.

If a girl wears a bra that's the wrong chest size, the bra's band will either feel tight and uncomfortable around her rib cage or it will be too loose and ride up her breasts. Bras that are too small in the cup will compress a girl's boobs and force them to bulge out the sides (think armpit boobs). And cups that are too big can wrinkle and pucker, which won't look good under clothes.

So how do you calculate your chest and cup measurements? It's easy, and it's something you can do in the privacy of your own room at home. All that you need is a tape measure.

Chest measurement. Bra fitting experts offer two methods of calculating the chest measurement. The most common method involves running a tape measure just under your breasts, all the way around your back and rib cage. The tape measure should rest flat on your skin and lie straight across your back — not so tight that it digs in, but not so loose that it sags down in back. Make a note of your measurement and add 5 inches. That's your chest size.

You can also estimate your chest size by running a tape measure across your chest above your breasts, under your armpits, and around your back (measure from the same back position as in the first chest measurement option). This method is easier because you don't have to do any addition or other calculation, but some people feel it's less accurate than using the first method.

If your chest measurement comes out as an odd number (such as 31 inches or 33 inches), it's usually a good rule to round up to the next number. Most bras have a few sets of adjustable hooks and eyes, so you can adjust the tightness. It's a good idea to round up, rather than round down, because when you buy a new bra that hooks on the first or middle hooks — rather than on the last — you can leave room for growth.

Cup measurement. As with the chest measurement, when you're measuring for cup size, make sure the tape is not too loose or too tight. If you already own an unpadded bra that fits well, wear it when measuring for cup size. Be careful about the type of bra you wear to take your measurements, though. Sports bras can flatten breasts and give a cup reading that's too small, and padded or lined bras have the opposite effect.

This time, when you run the tape measure around your body, you're going to take the measurement across the fullest part of your breasts. Write down this number. Now subtract your chest measurement. If the difference between the two numbers is less than 1 inch, your cup size is AA. If it's 1 inch, your cup size is A; 2 inches, you're a B; 3 inches you're a C, and so on.

So you've taken your measurements and you're in the fitting room trying a bra in what's supposed to be your size — but it doesn't seem to fit. Now what?

Before you pile on all your clothes just to go out and look for a different size, experiment by making some adjustments to the bra. Extend or shorten the band around your chest slightly by moving the hooks to a different eye on the hook and eye closure (or adjust the velcro if the bra has a velcro closing). The bottom band of a properly fitting bra should ride across the middle of your back and pass under your shoulder blades to provide the right support.

A bra's straps allow you to modify how the cups fit and support your breasts. When the straps are the right length, a bra lifts the breasts comfortably and the back of the bra will run straight across your back (if a bra is pulling upward in the back, it may be a sign that the straps are too tight). You should be able to get one finger under the straps to prevent them from digging into your shoulders. In general, girls who are petite will need to wear their bra straps shorter than girls who are tall.

Bra Booby Traps
In addition to fit, there are some other things you might want to take into account when choosing a bra.

Breast growth. A girl's breasts can grow and change rapidly during the teen years, which means that until you stop developing, you might have to change your bra size several times. If your breasts are still growing, consider buying fewer bras and measure yourself frequently to double-check your size.

Because growth can make a girl's breasts sensitive, you might find certain styles or fabrics work better for you. For example, some girls like seamless cups because they don't irritate the nipples; others choose styles that minimize jiggle to ease the occasional aches of breast development.

Menstrual changes. Some girls' breasts change size or shape at different times in their menstrual cycles. Many girls find they like to wear different styles of bras at different times in their cycle.

Different-sized breasts. Most girls' breasts grow at different rates — and many girls find themselves with one boob that's bigger than its partner. This is so common that bra manufacturers design their products so they can be adjusted to accommodate asymmetrical breasts. Start by moving the strap adjusters on a bra to different lengths to see if this helps.

Some girls also use the trick of buying a bra that has removable padding and then taking the extra padding out of the cup for the larger breast. Push-up bras can work well for this because they often come with an easily removable padded section (called a "cookie") that sits under the breast.

Hooks, wires, and other hazards. Take a look at the bra you're about to buy and imagine how it might survive a full day of wear. If the front closure pops open too easily, could this bra let you down in front of your entire drama class? The bra's straps may feel fine in the fitting room, but if the adjusters are sitting right on your shoulder or collarbone, how will that feel under your backpack?

Test to see if the bra band is too loose by lifting your arms in the air and putting them back down by your sides a couple of times. If the bra rides up across your breasts, the band is too loose. If you're looking for a sports bra, jump up and down in the fitting room a couple of times to evaluate the bra's bounce control.

You may also want to try on a T-shirt or sweater over a bra you're thinking of buying to get the finished effect. That pink rose on the front may look cute on the bra itself, but does it make you look as if you've sprouted a third breast once your T-shirt's on?

No matter what the size or shape of a girl's breasts, the most important thing to remember in choosing a bra is comfort. Try on a variety of bras to find the one that's right for you. Some girls prefer the comfort of cotton, others like the support of synthetics or underwires. There are minimizer bras for girls who'd like their breasts to look smaller, or padded bras for girls who'd like a little extra shape. No one bra is better than another — it all depends on which style works best for you.

About bra sizes- I've found, and most of my friends have found, that the adding 5 inches to the band is a crock. When I go to get measured, none of the people do. When I was looking up size calculators on the internet, the only ones that came CLOSE to my measured size were ones that did not add those inches. I've seen various recommendations, but my advice for looking for a bra is to GET YOURSELF MEASURED. Most department stores do this. Nordstrom's had really well trained staff, typically.

How I calculated my bra size (and got the same size I measure at):

I did the chest measurement below the bra as stated above, but DID NOT add anything. Then follow their directions.

I was actually told the opposite by a professional fitter. Bras loosen as they get older, so you need to use the tighter hooks. If you think you're pretty fully grown (my band size has barely changed from when I was 14, though my cup size has changed dramatically. A looser band wouldn't really have affected this) get the size that fits on the last hook, IMO.

Also, bras vary from maker to maker, and style to style. You may be one size in one kind of bra, and a different one in another, and that's OKAY. Just try on the bras, and look for a good fit.

You'll have to go to the store and pick out some bras. You'll have to try lots of bras on. Try on anything that's even close to your size. If you do not know what size you are, you can go to a place like Victoria's Secret. They have women there who will measure you.

Not really. We always have discharge whether we are in the mood or not, but very few women ejaculate anything.

I tried the close to my size thing, it work pretty well. Now my new problem is its Summer and now they don't fit, well not really. One does and the other one is more or less, but I have to change into P.E. clothes and well, when I do it makes me feel...not so covered.(They both go down the middle and, frankly, thats what stops it from hurting) My favorite type is the spaghetti strap with the built in bra, but its too warm during summer, and I sweat, a lot, a lot(I can sit in a 70f room and still sweat my T-shirt though without a bra on DX) I can handle a little more heat, but still it would be nice to know what to buy.(I plan on talking to my mom) I wear anti-antiperspirant/deodorant, but it doesn't really help. I really feel like I need to wear some really good support, as well, lets just say my P.E. shirt doesn't lie flat anymore.

So it sounds like you're saying you're outgrowing your bras and don't want to wear a tank top style shirt with a built in bra? If so, you have plenty of other options.

It's not uncommon to outgrow bras, especially during your teens, if you get pregnant, if you gain or lose weight, etc.

If you sweat a lot, you'll probably want something made out of a fairly light weight fabric that doesn't chafe. So go back to the store and try on more bras. Move around and bend over while wearing the bra. Look for one that you don't fall out of. If you go to Victoria's Secret, a saleswoman will even come in the dressing room with you and let you know if the bra fits you right.

If you feel you sweat an excessive amount, you can talk to a doctor about it. Some people do have sweat issues and use special antiperspirants or deodorants.

For the cup sizes, when do you start doubling the letters? I was just recently measured and the lady said I was a DD/E.. which surprised me since i always thought I was a C cup.. Does it just start doubling at the D? 'cause I measured myself later, and subtracted 32 from 37 which was 5... A, B, C, D, DD?

Don't ask me why, but there is no BB or CC. There is a AA, and there is a DD, which also may be called E. There are also the less common FF and GG.
