(( yeah, very original when it comes to naming threads, I know. ))
Avery couldn't help but be very greatful for the day to be so nice. It was his first day after getting settled down in the Swann household, and Peter had gone off to work. This, of course, left Avery alone with Caius, to hold up his end of the deal for the room and board. Babysitting.
It wasn't that Avery didn't like kids, they just made him nervous. They got inot things they shouldn't get into; they broke things; they ate poisonous chemicals when you weren't looking; they simply reeked of disaster-waiting-to-happen. Not to mention he really wasn't used to kids. Avery was an only child, and his parents were not close with their respective families. He had never really dealt with even younger cousins very often.
But it was a beautiful day, and kids liked the outdoors. So he always had that option if he coudln't think of anything else. Plus, caius seemed like a good kid. not some monster child that would torture animals and such. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
It was still quite early, and he sat quietly in the kitchen eating a not-very-exciting bowl of wheaties, skimming through the newspaper. The words escaped his mind, no matter how many times he read the smae sentence. Avery peered at the door way. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to get up so early, but he didn't want Caius running around when he wasn't up. Who knows what horrible thing he could've potential been woken to see. or coudl've woken him, he mused.

Unbeknownst to Avery, Caius had already been up a good while. In fact, he was currently exploring Peter's closet: he had some interesting stuff in there. And when a child is exploring a closet, the inevitable happens.
So, it really shouldn't have been any surprise when Caius walked (stumbled?) into the kitchen, wearing oversized shoes, a badly-tied tie (actually managing to tie it without strangling himself was an achievement), and a very large gray coat. Or at least, large on him - it was dragging on the ground..
Apparently, he had decided to play dress-up.
"Good morning!"
He smiled at Avery, acting completely normally. For all anyone knew, he did this every day; which wasn't true. But it was fun! He didn't often get to explore his father's closet, since he was normally at a neighbors house in the morning.

Looking up from his cereal, Avery once more focused on the doorway into the kitchen where Caius now actually was. He cocked an eyebrow, before uttering a very intelligible, "...Um."
Avery had the sneaking suspicion that, based on the quality of the clothes, they were not Caius' play clothes, but his father's ones that were most likely still in use. And the fact that they were enormous on Caius helped his deductive reasoning. However, Avery wasn't quite sure if this behavior was allowed. Some parents weren't really strict on this sort of thing, after all.
Abandoning his breakfast, Avery pushed himself away from the table and walked over to the child.
"Morning to you, too." He squat down, resting on the balls of his feet, but now at Caius' eye evel, "I see you've dressed for the occassion. However, I was not aware that breakfast was such a formal event in your household."
He motioned towards himself briefyly with exaggerated embarassment, while continuing on, "I'm only wearing jeans and a t-shirt. You'll have to forgive me."
Playing a long for a bit wouldn't hurt. He'd just make sure he changed before eating anything, so nothing was spilled on the clothes. Then, when Peter came home, he'd try to use his experiance from the day to pin down just what was allowed, and what wasn't. For now, he'd let the kid enjoy himself.
"Shall I pull out a chair for you, sir?" Avery grinned at Caius, amiably.

((I'm so sorry for the slow response x.x))
"That would be excep-table."
Caius held his head high, attempting to imitate those stuffy people he saw on tv. Not that Peter acted like that, but still...how much fun would it be to act like his dad? He already did act like him!
Kind of. Y'know, minus the whole medical degree and maturity, and wit, and intelligence, and...
Actually, just forget it.
"And it's ok! You're forgiven!"
Caius beamed that out at Avery, trotting on over to a chair.

Avery sat down in his own seat at the table once Caius had taken a seat. He'd take a slightly underhanded approach for getting Caius to change.
"Well, since you've dressed so elegantly this morning, I'd hate for you to get your clothing dirty...." he let out a melodramatic sigh, "I guess you'll just have to watch me eat my breakfast then."
Avery illustrated his point by downing a spoon full of cereal -which in truth he did not enjoy, seeing as it had become extremely soggy since he had left it. Regardless, it should've make his point clear to Caius, who was hopefully quite hungry.
And if not, he'd just have to be firm with the boy. Caius was very likeable, and seemed like he'd be easy to deal with. Some kids were just monsters... Avery could not have been more greatful of not having to deal with an uncontrollable child.
